Sad thing for the club was Jordan didn’t want to leave his beloved club, but when Fita Hala cancels meetings and doesn’t get back in contact to arrange another meeting there’s not much a player can do. I know his manager contacted the club and never even got a call or email back.
Tigers loss is certainly Mackay Cutters gain, they’ve got a loyal and talented kid heading their way

Has fafita hala left Tigers?

He should....

Has the ultimate dream job and can't even do the basics.

Always been clear Hill has a future but he dropped the ball on that one.

I'd say if the club wanted to resign him and Hal stuffed up he would be sacked. If he is still employed by the club maybe he has done his job. Easier for family to blame the club than admit the truth...

Edit: should add there is a reason meetings are cancelled and not rebooked. Its because the player is not wanted. The manager and player were probably told... may not tell the family though....

spot on if he wanted to be signed Sheens would have instructed it to happen
good luck to Hill but better prospects around the corner I would think

Pretty sure he was gone before Sheens arrived.

If the club didn’t want him then that should have been communicated. Part of running a professional business is delivering bad news as well as good news.

100%

Seems like they did want to keep him, hence the two failed roosters appointees (Hala and Hartigan) arranging the meetings but failing to follow through.

**Says more about them than the kid who had big wraps, tried hard and wanted to stay but had to take an offer from another club because those two couldn't do their job.**

No wonder they got sacked.

This is the only reason I made reference to his family asking for some assurance with helping with work/studies (or whatever it was they wanted for Jordan).
I'm not even sure what's in the scope of the club's responsibilities - particularly with our junior pathways players - but aside from that incompetence, there was mention that what I've alluded to was the only factor holding things up. As he was extremely keen to stay on, from what was said on here at the time.
You'd never see a club like Melbourne not accommodate a simple need like that. Or that's my feelings on it anyway.

So tbh the type of incentives we offer could be the difference to why we're able to retain or recruit the next best talent - aside from paper bags, the decision is always made easier for a player being targeted by the Roosters, as their future is always guaranteed to be taken care of post footy.
On that note I don't think what the family was wanting was too much of an ask really and I hope the club does offer some type of support in this area.

Pretty sure education is outside the cap as well. Not hard to sort a kid out through a sponsor if we really tried. Cronk had a Harvard degree in his rosters contract from memory

I was unsure about this, so thankyou.
Yeah I just think that the club should be able to demonstrate some ability of helping players expand their horizons. That's all.
I feel, regardless of what stage they're at - and especially until our roster is more highly competitive and successful - the club could instill values that not only benefits the team, but also which players can apply throughout their lives.
When players sign with Melbourne, Bellamy sends them to building sites to impose a culture of hard work, teamwork and dedication.
Nurture their growth. Give them a sense of trust and commitment, and they'll want to be loyal to a club like ours.

Spot on. Makes a huge difference to juniors and their parents when choosing clubs. Such a small thing as well. Get an education officer appointed, let the, loo after it, partner with tafe or a college etc. easy

Luckily we have one of the largest player welfare teams out of all the NRL clubs then...

Hasting is a winner

Who's never won anything....

Achieved more than about 90% of the blokes in our squad...

Probably more talking about his attitude anyway. Bloke wants to win can't say the same for most of them. Hopefully the Wests Tigers stink doesn't take away his passion too soon.

He hasn't established himself as an NRL player. That is his first task.

He's played more NRL first grade games than a good number of our blokes plus his game in England

I'm sure he'll do alright. Was only talking about his attitude anyway

What I personally get tired of is people talking him up over the most trivial things. The best one I’ve one read was someone was convinced he was the guy to lead us because he had a chat with him at the gym and that he was a great bloke.

Pretty meaningless when two of the most experienced players in our squad are two of the most loathed. Those two being Brooks and Noffa.

Yep... I know my Superleague,

And stand by my comment....
Seen plenty of MOS winners who wouldn't stand out in ressies here....

The fact that Sam Tomkins won it last year, Should well and truly help you gauge the standing on the award you mentioned...

Well Brooks won our player of the year.
Doesn’t say much for that award either.

Can’t argue with you on that personally IMO the award should have gone to Cronk not because his team won but he just played much better than Brooks

At least he’s passionate and wants to win very vocal too can’t say that for most of our players unfortunately

They are only loathed by the person/s who dislikes them, i.e. there are many Wests Tigers supporters who like them, possibly they are in the majority.

Don't you believe that the clubs need quite a lot more players then the one or two it currently has? It may change the way the team has been heading.

And I won 2nd in the under 12's 50m Butterfly at the School Carnival in 1987... I don't see your point.

Hastings won nothing in a nothing comp, Was moved on from multiple clubs while doing nothing in his last NRL Trot, Plenty of clubs in the NRL could use a "A Match Winning 7" (As he's touted here) yet one of the worst clubs in the comp is the only one to remotely show interest.

Don't get me wrong, As long as he's in our Jersey - I want him to kill it, And the team do well. But a little perspective here won't go astray (That's for sure)

He's literally proven nothing... He may well do (God, we all hope he does) But, In such an important position - Any "runs on the board" that could be factored in - really don't account for anything... Certainly not the way half this forum indicates....

Anyone would think we've signed the 06 Thurston...
