Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

too many times we replace good/solid players with has-been-hopeless players (e.g. Momirovski -> J Leilua, Gildart, Roberts;
Aloiai > Tamou), hopefully we will do better with L Leilua, and K Tuilagi🙏
Leilua has already been replaced by Papalii so that's not a concern. And Tamou has been excellent all this season

anyone mentioning matterson coming back is a goldfish, the bloke was a benchie who came here and became one of the better edges in the comp, madge spoke to Freddy and got him in the NSW squad then he goes and thanks madge by trying to cause trouble in the playing group and walking out on us refusing to play, guys an arrogent, vein flop and deserves exile from the nrl.
Screw Matterson. No thank you to him coming back.

The blokes a grub and i dont even rate him as a player. Can't believe his name is even being mentioned. Crazy stuff.

Possible that Aitken may be released early… but looking at other options?

I’d still look at Bird and Hopgood

The next battle front will be the juniors. We have a few really good young Qlders plus our own excellent juniors. We need to make sure the best are secured and continue to identify, retain and develop them.
It was the blue print for North Queensland.
I know it’s a long season but it looks like their youth are developing nicely and being complemented by competitive and well balanced experienced men.
Do you see similar talent in our own youth?
Is the answer similar, include a couple of hard nosed senior first graders into the side?
I’ll admit we are starting to see more out of our roster than I thought to be possible.

Hopgood is a very good player and he would fit into the playing group the club is trying to build. Plus, he comes from a very good system.
I think he could be quite an important piece. Aitken is solid, but we already have some very solid forwards doing a great job.

Believe we’ll be looking to aim higher in terms of bench props or reserve 2nd row/centre - one guy that falls in this bracket is Matt Doorey(?)
Unsure of spelling

Topine, Doorey, Seyfarth, Blore, Talau, Hopgood is a good mix of backrowers / bench players.
The warriors have remained competitive despite having no strike backrowers available with Tohu Harris’ ACL and playing Similar aged players, Katoa, Sironen, Murchie, Aitken

I have a theory that the reason there is a lack of genuine centres is because the good centres either want to play fullback or 5/8
Centres’ pay rate is going down, while back rowers’ is going up. Back rowers are now hanging out on the edges. I guess if you want to be a 3/4 get a contract as a back rower?

Let’s put it this way so you may understand.
If he was with us right now….. he would be the first centre picked. OK?

I'd order our centres and Momo like this. Doueihi, To'a, Roberts, Kepaoa, Talau, Momo and then Gildart.

So you are right in the context of Laurie, Nofo, Doueihi, Roberts and Talau all being injured.

A second row of
11.Papalii
12.Aitkens/Bird
13.Doueihi

Screams sheens all over It, tbh I actually like it. 7 years ago I’d be saying oh noooo but the games changed since then, mobility is the key!
No way offa is left out of the back row. AD to centre - has the added bonus of improving our lack lustre centre debacle.
