Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Does this make sense

Mbye to Tigers before June 30
This frees up Money for the dogs as they would be able to front load a player for next year saving them cap money
I think the Dogs would see this as releaving some pressure
I can see this happening

Spot on with cap management. The Roosters did this with SBW and Maloney. Dogs in a slightly different situation but same principle.
WT should hold still no team will pay much for Mbye knowing their cap position.

Can anyone tell me why Wayne Bennet hasn't tried Corey Oates in the 2nd row? He has the agility, speed and size to be a really good forward. I'd try and pick him up and play him on the edge. After a preseason.

He did in preseason games and it was mixed results he did not give him enough time there

He has better back rowers Pangai, Sua, Gillett, Glenn, Mcquire to choose from. TPA will keep him at the Broncos.

 this thread has gone for nearly 700 pages and I'm fairly confident not 1 suggested signing has been signed..

I think Mbye is a player without a position. He is fast and elusive but just does not have the smarts as far as I can see to inject himself into the game when he is needed.
I can see others rate him, but he just hasnt been able to make a position his own with the Bulldogs even though they have given him every opportunity.
A change of clubs might make difference, but I think his progress as a player at this point has stalled.

It's always the way mate. I doubt we'll get any of the above mentioned. I posted a list of where I predict all these players will be going a few pages back. Pretty sure I will be correct with most of them too.

All the signings are waiting for this thread to reach 700 pages

We aren't trying hard enough Geo and your probably the biggest problem with your pessimism

Don't bring our people with hope in our heart and soul down

When we think Mbye we should think "how does he fit into the team" as well as player.

Team wise, he goes to 1, Reynolds will probably be 5/8 and Brooks at 7 were ok. Probably adds a spark in attack and lets Thompson keep our wing safe.

But the other chat in the forum, where do we fit Cleary, Reynolds and Brooks? If we get a Cleary/Brooks halves pairing they will be okish in defense. Add Mbye at 1 though, we will be too weak. That said, we need Speed and elusiveness without ego. Mbye kind of fits the bill there (so does Lachlan Coote). Mbye and Reynolds already played together at the Bulldogs and…. They sucked! Ok they have halves experience together, but that isn't a club combo I would want to keep.... But Mbye at 1 and Reynolds in the Centers could work.

Mbye, spark in attack.... Would rather a dedicated Fullback.

If I am looking at the bulldogs, I would be tapping Will Hopoate. More solid in defense and having all his brothers behind him would give the Tigers a family of talent to mine. Also happy to pinch a forward or two.

We do need probably two quality backs and impact second rower in the mould of a Gareth Ellis.

I think Mbye ticks alot of boxes, and would be an excellent purchase.

Rather than looking at Rona, i think Isaaka or Oats alot better value.

Just don't know why we got Godinet, when we had Marshall-King.

Bear in mind we have some good young talent comming through, and we do not want to loose them.

From memory I think JMK was offered a spot in the 17 at the Dogs this year, which I don't think Ivan would guarantee a player that especially with 1 First game game under their belt.

We have been saying this for years.

No chance we get Oats or Isaako.
Dreaming.

Isaako no chance, but if we offer Oats good money and a second row spot, maybe. Wayne refuses to play him there and he desperately wants to. We need a big strong back rower, so it could solve a problem for us.
