Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

With this increase in salary cap for 2023, I am just trying to think logically who & how this will benefit ...

PERSPECTIVE: Reportedly players will have a % increase in their contracts for salary cap rises so Clubs may not have as much 'up their sleeve' as many think.

MAY MEAN NOT AS MUCH MOVEMENT OF OFF CONTRACT PLAYERS: Players at current top 4-6 clubs who may have been inclined to look elsewhere for a fatter deal may be happy enough to stay now. (The likes of Moses, Dylan Brown, Tedesco down the track etc).

MORE UNDER CONTRACT PLAYERS MOVED ON: Clubs looking to offload a player under contract who is on 'overs' currently may be in a better position to offload them. i.e. Current club may be willing to pay a bit more for them to play elsewhere & new club may be also dig a little deeper. (For us, could we see a Maumalo or Nofa depart & the forum's favourite player LB & the likes of Klemmer, Nathan Brown etc).

Am I on the right track with this forecast?
think so mate. helps the bulldogs, Penrith and panthers. not so sure on teh move on. eg we had enough cap to get Moses and now we have a million more. will still be movement. Minimum going up will be an issue at some clubs like the roosters

It was posted that Klemmer would prefer a few other clubs but our offer was way better. Well now some of these other clubs maybe able to get their offer looking a little sweeter due to the bigger salary cap.

In saying that, Iam sure clubland had a pretty good idea what the increase would be, and some of the higher profile clubs were probably tipped off well in advance

Although i'm pissed we haven't signed any big names , that's far better then what the nervous nellies did in the last 3 or more years . Noufa 's extension and money, a fullback that can't play fullback, a half going to 13. etc etc. All clubs make mistakes, but surely when your spending huge money, you should spend far more time evaluating a players ability, speed, level of fitness, size and agression , The club has a goal, Sheens has been open about it, Its going to take some time!
We have to roll with the punches,
Unlike Madge spunking money on blokes like Peachey

We have to roll with the punches,
We've had more punches thrown at us then Ivan Drago did against Rocky.

I reckon it isn't the high end players ...it is your stars on the rise that will benefit the most with the salary cap increases .....I agree with less player movement now though

GLOCK I DEMAND ANSWERS WHY HAVE WE NOT SIGNED ANYONE YET IF WE DON'T SIGN ANYONE WE WILL CONTINUE TO BE LAUGHED AT THAT CAN'T HAPPEN I KNOW THAT TIMES ARE TOUGH BUT PASCOE NEEDS TO GET A DEAL DONE FOR THE FANS JUST CAUSE WE ARE THE SPOONERS DOESN'T MEAN WE CAN'T SIGN PLAYERS JUST LOOK AT BULLDOGS SIGNING HALF THE COMPETITION UP THE MIGHTY TIGERS

Sorry wasn't intending to make a post but come to think of it zero is a fair rating of our recruitment ability .By the way now pre season training has begun where is Sheens ? Is he back in the country ?
Putting out fires at McDonald's outlets apparently.
I'm surprised that WT haven't gone hard with media and the CO.
All that hype that it will improve recruiting and so far we've seen just a couple of pics. Preseason training pics and general life in and around the COE would help curb a little of my anxiety. 🤔
