Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Heard a story today about a Broncos young gun who signed a 3 year deal for 2023-25 and he's already trying to get out of it! He changed management to Riolo's mob just after he signed the deal, they shopped him around and got better offers, now they're playing the coercion card and the old broken promises routine. Two guesses who made the offers...
I've also been told WT have met with just about the who's who of players available for 2023 and player managers are only too happy to talk because of the dollars involved. I have no idea who, or even if, anyone has actually agreed to anything but at least we're out there trying.
Dogs and rorters for offers to Broncos young gun?

Doueihi set to manage himself

Wests Tigers playmaker Adam Doueihi is taking over his own management and has placed a hefty price tag on his services.

Doueihi has been selling himself as a No.7 or No.6 to a rival club and is after a three-year deal worth at least $900,000 a season. I’ve been told by those with knowledge of the situation he wants a minimum of $850,000 for the first season, with his price going up in future years.

With a dearth of quality No.7s in the competition, it’s a good tactic, but it remains to be seen if a club will go for that price. He is a quality player, but has had knee issues in the past. Even with healthy legs, he is going to need a breakout season to reach that level of income.

There are about half-a-dozen $1 million halves in the NRL, headed by Nathan Cleary, Cameron Munster and Daly Cherry-Evans, but Doueihi is not in that class.

The Tigers’ roster is better than it has been and if he can cash in on good service from the likes of Api Koroisau, Jackson Hastings and maybe Luke Brooks he may mount a case for an upgrade.

Doueihi obviously knew about the salary cap increase😂. This article has the negotiations off to a good start.

The halves market - very few worth their dollar value to any team but like anything supply and demand determines worth.
Good reason for Hastings/ Douehi to sell themselves in their preferred positions - and not as a 13 and or centre.

Put incentives in. Drop $10k for each missed tackle and further deductions for games missed due to injury.

Would be a good value signing

At 850k minimum it would be the worst signing the club has ever made.If he is serious about wanting that i wouldn't even bother negotiating with him. That is Trump levels of delusion

Dont disagree 850k a little bit high but still about 250k less than Brooks getting next year
Admit one is deal done years ago cant do anything about

I was thinking he isn't worth his 650k contract or whatever he is on now. Maybe with the salary cap increase but let's be honest he is a borderline first grader atm.

Maybe next year he will get his game together and be a weapon but you can't sign players like that. It's nuts.

all comes down to price really, if Sheens can convince Brooks to take 700k or 750k to finish his career as a one club player as a running 6 then it is a good deal, anymore and we should look elsewhere

As for douhie and Hastings if we lose both of them in 2024 that should free up 1.2 million to go after Moses or George Williams

Brooks new deal will not be anywhere near 1.1 million, the current deal was back ended to 1 million for 2023 he was never getting that the previous years.

I don't think so. Brooks next season is the killer and it's been a backdated contract plus Brooks is on the park most of the time.

Brooks has a better kicking game, is heaps better defensively and Brooks creates at least as many opportunities as AD. Brooks has outperformed AD every season they've been here.

I'm not a Brooks fan and I've been pushing for AD to be given a spot in the halves over Brooks for a while.

Brooks big problem is that he is being played as a 7 who has to win the big moments. He isn't that guy.

We don't even know where you play AD atm.

reckon next year it will be
7. Brooks
6. Douhie

We may release Hastings to Newcastle as a sweetner to get klemmer in 2023 and play joffa or Bateman in the 13 role.
Can't see tigers releasing Brooks or douhie in 2023 though
