Viliame Kikau re-signs with Pamfers till 2022…damn

We should have tried to sign him when he was ripping up the NYC with the Cowboys. Hopefully we're searching high and low for someone with similar attributes as it's exactly what we're lacking

Could we even talk to Kikau as he wasn't off contract until next year.

Sure, you can talk to any player, any time….

I was suggesting we should have (and hopefully did) offer him a contract when he was the most dominant forward the NYC has ever seen. Instead, he joined a team which already had a strong pack and we slowly worked his way in.

Can you really talk to any player any time? I thought that a player who is under contract for the next season would need to have permission to negotiate by his club.

I confess as each day goes by without any news of signings for 2019 I'm starting to get a little worried. There's been plenty of news about players we are letting go and, for the most part, I don't think any of us are too concerned about the losses. But, lost players have to be replaced and if we're to be a better team in 2019 they have to be replaced by better players. Raising the bar a little, if we are to be a genuine title contender in 2019 we have to sign some of the best players available.
We just don't seem to be mentioned as bidders for any of the top players available and one by one the better players available are going to other clubs. Day by day the pool of good players on the market is shrinking to a puddle.
Is anyone out there getting concerned?

Behind the scenes we have a plan I can guarentee. Just because you don't hear any media reports doesn't mean we are in some sort of crisis

Really?
I hope you’re correct but I am very skeptical when it comes to recruitment retention.
Players come up on the market and we only seem to be in the hunt for fringe players or players looking for their final contract - MBye being the exception.
Other than the coaches son, what rep player or ‘in his prime’ proven first grader are we linked to?

**Being a bottom feeder club it's near impossible to be able to recruit top tier players.** Mbye, Reynolds, Packer and Mats I believe are just a tad below top tier but are still pretty damn good signings for where we were as a club. We aren't going to sign players like Cronk, Tedesco, Crichton like the Rorters did in a 12 month period but hopefully in the near future with a few top 8 finishes players will want to come to us

And yet somehow bottom placed Parramatta snared Blake Ferguson! I hear this being said about us all the time, yet so often the teams that are consistently below us on the ladder don't seem to have any trouble attracting the top players. Newcastle won the spoon 3 years in a row, but still managed to sign Mitchell Pearce & Kaylyn Ponga!

Breaking: Payne Haas set to complete a $3 million, four-year deal with @brisbanebroncos

Geez that's putting a lot of stock into a bloke that we've hardly seen anything of. He's played what…about 15 minutes of NRL? Just because he's a big body doesn't necessarily mean he will be any good playing NRL week in, week out - just look at Dave Taylor!

If the Broncos are paying Payne Hass $750K someone in there roster is going to miss out. Time to get in and stir the pot with offers to their off contract players TPJ,Jayden Sua,Corey Oates and Isako.Penriff will be in a similar position with Jack Hetherington off contract and unsigned.

Because our recruitment strategy sux. Plain and simple. We are never, I repeat, never in the market for top line players.

Gotta wonder with Penrith locking up a few of their young stars whether they will be OK with letting Cleary go in order to keep a better balance across their roster, especially with Luai(sp?) coming through.

Apparently Maloney will go to the ESL after 2019 allowing Penrith to keep Cleary & Luai

Moses Mbye..?

I'd say Cleary is doing well to change the perception of the club. WTs are viewed now as a team on the up. Probably a team of triers lacking spark in one or two areas.

Although he appears to be turning out ok for us, I must admit I didn't really consider Mbye to be a top line player during his years at Canterbury. He was more dud than top shelf for the money they were forking out for him.
