Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Could Te Marie Martin play fullback?

He wants to come back, local junior. Seems a little short but definitely a lively player, reminds me of Ben Barba.

Seems like someone who could play 1/2 way in or off the bench and just jumpstart the attack. I.e. not a defender or solid like we need. But with Teddy, Mitch, Woods and others going we need to keep our attack up. At least he seemed to have some loyalty to the club…. still preferring Reynolds naturally but is there room for this guy?

It'd be a gamble. What's the backup plan if it doesn't work out?

Supposedly we are looking at Alex Johnston & Connor Watson - DT Article below

"TIGERS WON’T CHASE DUGAN
WESTS Tigers WON’T be chasing St George Illawarra fullback Josh Dugan to replace James Tedesco. They are far more interested in South Sydney’s Alex Johnstonand the Roosters’ Connor Watson — who can’t crack it for a start with the NRL team.

Coach Ivan Cleary is keen on both players although it is highly unlikely the Roosters will release Watson, who is not free until the end of next season. Johnston’s contract is up at the Rabbitohs this season."

Wouldn't be thrilled about Johnston tbh

I'm not a fan of Johnston. TMM would be awesome at FB if he wants to come back and play there. The other two we should chase are Connor Watson and Dylan Edwards. I encourage you all to watch their YouTube videos. Lolohea would make for a better winger and back up FB. I don't trust him in critical roles.

Johnston, no thanks. Have not seen him play a good game at fullback. Not sold on Hoppa.

I would make a play for Nicoll-Klokstad. I know that people have said the warriors want to keep him, but when thay have RTS, Shaun Johnson, Isaac Luke, Tohu Harris amongst others, I am not sure how much they could afford to pay him, and they would not be able to sell him the idea of being their no1 fullback.

Otherwise to some extent we are waiting on a team to offer up a contracted player. Watson, Lolohea, Edwards, Brett Morris

Wonder if there's any former nrl fullbacks in the super league that wanna come home…or props/outside backs

It amazes me, the amount of false information people have. Firstly, TMM is 181cm and 90 kg which is not small. Also, he actually defends quite well. His tackles/ misses stats confirm this.
Regarding whether or not, we should try and get him - a definite yes. He is an elite talent. However, the problem is is that he would want to play five eighth and would not be happy to come back as a stop gap fullback. He is an excellent five eighth and will become one of the best. The Tigers made the wrong decision in going for Reynolds and not him but, perhaps, he was not available, as suggested anyway. The latest news is that he will try to go to the Warriors. Makes sense, replacing Foran…

ONE TO WATCH — INTRUST SUPER CUP

William Bugden. A front-rower with the Northern Pride, Bugden weighs 112 kilos and is a graduate of the Parramatta Holden Cup team.

After two years with Tweed Heads where he won Players’ player in 2015 and Best and Fairest in 2016, the 23-year-old spent the 2016-17 pre-season training with North Queensland.

While the Cowboys could call on the big unit at Origin time, he’s not under contract with them and rivals are aware.

A similar build to Reagan Campbell-Gillard, this athletic unit is powerful.

Standing 6’2, his post contact metres are nothing less than impressive and we hear a certain Sydney club in need of big men is ready to make an offer. We’ll keep you posted.

Sounds like us. No one else needs frontbrowers. Be a good buy.

Apparently we signed this guy for next year:

Buzz just wants us to go for crap players….if we get Alex Johnston for fullback I'll no longer watch our games till he leaves....Latrell is the real deal and I can see him running over the top of Tedesco for a try satisfaction....he been left out of the roosters side again today....Ivan if you had any sense what so ever you would throw some money at him

First Gordon, now Teddy. Latrell has plenty of talent, but I suspect that Roosters see centre as his permanent position. I'm inclined to agree.

If we have signed this Tyson Gamble I assume that this means we are not re-signing Littlejohn.

He has been a good fillin when required but doesn't really have that spark that can drive an attack. Love some his work, some of his kicks were good but he didn't run enough for mine.

This young Gamble has scored 3 tries recently which means he is ready to attack.

Hopefully he can expand his game in our ISP team.

Russell Packer is now a Kiwi International, that certainly adds to his standing in the game.

May up his money as well.

Dragons are very keen to keep him as we are to get him.

Seems the Dragons are much more keen to keep Milne now, one of their supporters even called their best centre prospect since Gasnier !.

Go hard WTs.

Yeah he looks good I reckon might be just like Corey Norman in a few years

Would be great if we could nab Watson.

I take it that we've gone cold on Lolohea then?

Appears that the Warriors won't let go of Lolohea unless they get a replacement which could be TMM
