Simpkins isnt coming fellas. He was ranked like top5 potential talents in the new zealand rugby union scene. The Cows had to do a considerable amount of work to get him over. Added to that he is raw and a year or 2 away at least im told. The cows have him in high regard we have literally no chance.

He’s still unsigned. If they liked him that much surely they sign him up

Focusing on the signings, this is what I hope transpires (but doubt will all eventuate)
1. Rapana to Storm/ JAC comes to us.
2. Reynolds to ESL/ we sign Burton
3. Packer to Saints or Manly (with our subsidy)/ we sign Hetherington
4. We sign Staines
If we managed to achieve the first 3, we'd really be travelling in the right direction. Unfortunately, so much hinges on Reynolds and Packer...

Tonight we say goodbye to 2 club legends and our best player from this year. Yet there appears to be no immediate succession plan. Good organisations have ‘like for like’ blokes ready to go. Maybe the club is working hard behind the scenes but we’re all still in the dark.

And please don’t give me Reynolds and Simpkin as our options. I like the youth policy but it only works if you can get the best young talent, I’m not convinced we can.

I know a lot hinges on cleary’s dregs, but Burton, the cheese and Hetherington seem like best available to me.

We’ve got heaps of guys that can play 5/8 and not much room to sign anyone else. Lawrence to be honest shouldn’t really be in the starting team, is only there because it’s his last game so it’s not a big loss we need to replace

I love both rowdy and benji but the succession plan is moving them on. Both are one a good maybe even great one dimensionally. Benji can still attack we have seen that but that attack is still rocks and diamonds we need consistency. Rowdy is all heart a good defender but a poor ball runner as of now which was once his biggest strength.

I think you will see alot of turnover this year and next which will give us a chance to develop the talent we need as we are struggiling to buy it.

I’m talking in regards to having to replace him. Someone mentioned we don’t have a succession plan for losing him, I’m just saying he’s not really a starting player so we don’t need to have a big plan to replace him. Not putting him down I love the bloke and I’m very sad it’s his last game for us.

He has been terrible with any steps, any changes in directions and any kicks put in behind. He can't move.

I think you are seeing his front on D, which has always been good, but center requires movement. He also cannot pass to save his life. Witness the game a few weeks back where, with the game on the line and his winger waiting, Lawry passed the ball like it was a brick into touch.
