Souths wouldn't have any cap room at all. Isn't the head burgi wanting to come back or was that for an English club?

Not sure if you have been hiding but South and Roosters don't have the standard Salary Caps.. They have a special one where they adjust as needed.. :grinning: :grinning: :grinning:

They aren’t successful clubs because they rort the cap. They’re successful because they’re well run, smart and professional. We are none of those things.

It's hard to differentiate with those two clubs. Yes they are professionally run. And yes they appear to rort the cap. I don't think we've seen them being run professionally when they weren't cheating the cap.

There is no proof of that.

That's why I said they appear and I don't think.

I don't like to accuse people of cheating without proof, especially when we have been done for it.

If paying someone $600'000 to $700'000 to play for another club is cheating then we were dudded
We did not replace this player with a better player therefore we did not gain any advantage
This move was more based on team cohesion then any other matter
It was a clash of coach and player and it caused disharmony within the group
Unlike peptides (performance enhancing) or free boats to sign and keep the very best players, our offer to Robbie was more of a gesture in good faith, not to gain a competitive advantage
Unfortunately the league saw it differently
I would not call that cheating

It's not a good look when he returns less than 2 years later on a much reduced contract.

FWIW a guy on the warren who was first to say they have Latrell is now saying Souths are getting JAC.

Don’t think anyone would be surprised. The only positive would be that we could throw more money at Grant if he’s available

If Grant has half a brain he won’t consider staying with us. He’s a wonderful player who deserves to play finals. ***Ain’t gonna happen at WT.***

Aint gonna happen....unless of course we get some players of Grants ability into the squad...see how it works?

We’ve been trying that without success for 9 years. Gets harder to attract talent each year you’re out of the finals.

Must be why the Titans struggle so hard to attract talent, and why the Knights haven’t been able to sign any prominent players since those three wooden spoons.

I wonder which one of Gagai, Roberts, Burns or Allen is moving to the Sunshine Coast next year.

My moneys on Gagai leaving so that he can move back home to Queensland for his final contracted year.

That's all he was worth when he returned
And its what souths paid for him
As I said, by all reports we paid big $ to let him play elsewhere
By doing that, we already had a large sum of our cap $ being paid to a player at another club
I would like to know where we received our advantage on that note
Am I missing something here
On top of that, has Robbie actually started working for our club in his apparent new roll
You look at souths
Both Burgess And Inglis are looking at coming out of retirement
Souths received salary cap compensation for their retirements
Now that is receiving an advantage by increasing the amount of cap you have to spend
What has the Nrl done

Titans are on an upward trajectory. Anyone can see they’re a team on the rise whereas we appear to be going backwards.

Honestly, not sure how the knights did it but I can imagine it had to do with lifestyle factors.

Guys want out if Sydney. Knights give them a nice place on the beach for their families and a big pay cheque. Struggling clubs pay overs for players, we’ve just paid overs for crap ones. Even bulldogs signed Cotric who’s a gun it’s just for overs

If Souths do sign JAC without getting rid of someone who’s on big money they need to be put in the roosters caliber of apparent cap rorting. I never like accusing teams of it but unless they free up someone there’s no possible way they can afford him unless he’s getting money on the side.

I'm curious as to who Da Storms will be getting. No chance they assume Gagai's contract. And everyone else has been re-signed recently.

Not buying it tbh. Recency bias from the LM saga is making us overly paranoid. Harden up you muppets

Storm would take Campbell Graham if offered. Not sure about anyone else in the backline

We’ll see how true the comment is from the Souths guy lol.

We have advantages though because we are in Sydney. Our issue as you state is we've paid overs for the wrong players.

You’re fitting the evidence to your biases. At the start of this season the Titans were a garbage side who were already losing their best player (Arrow). The good players they’ve signed for 2021 all committed before they went on their winning run at the back end of the season. Sure, they no doubt sold Fifita etc on their plan but it was just that - there is no track record of success at the Titans.

There were certainly signs of improvement through the season, and I believe that the new signings largely joined due to Holbrook, who by all accounts is a class act and a great coach. I think Holbrook is one of the key attractions to joining the Titans.

Honestly, this is my first time posting.. I have been watching this forum since the teddy, woods, moses and brooks days when it all went down, even before that.. I am a passionate supporter of the Wests Tigers and honestly NO one EVER has made me angry or annoyed until today reading your comments today! I even made an account just to comment and call you out on your crap.

seriously, you join this form and you just trash talk the Tigers thinking we cant make it at all.. I dont get what the point is for you to be on here? Constructive comments but why even post them? Having a bad Friday or something mate?

I am annoyed with the success, but you place us worse than the Titans and Bulldogs, whom have been lower than us for YEARS! BUT YOU STILL GIVE IT TO OUR CLUB?!

Seriously, step back and look how far the club has come since the days of Rankin and Simona.. most likely they were your favourite players to wear the jersey? Wait... it probably was Lolohea...

Get a grip fella.

We actually haven’t improved since the Rankin Simona and Lolohea days. Not sure what team you’ve been watching

No I don't think we have either. Look i'm more negative than most and i'll cop that. I'm extremely frustrated after 9 years of being unable to finish in the top half of the comp and I just don't see the light at the end of the tunnel. Every season is groundhog day.

Mid way through the season I was very positive how we were tracking, even had a chance to get into the finals. But the last 10 weeks were really poor.

We haven't improved on the ladder, but the foundations are being built that weren't even considered then which will put us in a much stronger position. Theres no quick fix, it had to come from within and that is being done. Try to keep the faith.

Best post in this thread in a long time...

there is no single marquee signing that will make us competitive for a premiership if we signed them this year. NONE.

We arent anywhere near where we need to be to splurge on a single player to be a force. Disappointing, I know, I really do, we all do, though we are shaping a roster moving in the right direction. We have dead wood, we have some outright rot. Roster improvement, and youth is where we need to be, to be competitive in a few years. Sad but true Tigers life.

I will be disappointed if we waste big money on a single player to placate the fanbase. A crappy cake isnt improved with a cherry on top.

If we improve our D lets say 25% we probably scrape the 8.
Improve D and Discipline (at crucial times) then we make the 8 easy.

Has anyone else heard that we are looking at signing the Zarzov brothers to development contracts?
