11 Penrith players on the market come November including some great young prospects like Burton, Crichton, Leniu, Hetherington, Luai, Naden as well as Yeo.

They’ll have to lose a couple, they’ll keep all the big guns like Crichton, Luai but there’s some good options to sign out of that lot.

Here’s An article about it that I can’t read: https://bit.ly/30JDrWy

Was thinking today that Hetherington makes sense for us
Could be the reason we haven't re signed Sam McIntyre yet
We get a better player
Penrith gets a cheaper back up

Hetherington's main asset is his aggression. He isn't a better defender than Mac, Mac had some bad luck with head knocks this season but he showed a bit of promise in his time on the paddock. Worth persevering with for a year or 2: see how he develops.

Totally agree about Sam Mac,if some people recall he was only a CC player, you know fringe FGer and plodder,he was asked to step up and did a fine job for someone not expected to be at NRL level...give him time with Madge and he will be a real worker for us and will get better with experience..

I remember a young bloke being moved on from a club because he was to small and didnt have what it would take to make it in the NRL...J.Thurston anyone.???

I’m reluctant to just excuse it or simply call it a disgruntled players exaggeration

I think the best approach is to treat comments like the ones you heard exactly as players being upset because they weren't good enough. I spoke to some players a while back. One of them was young Dylan Smith. He told me that it was a cut throat business. Players have to perform and they are going to get disgruntled. This is the big show.

This was around the time the club was borrowing money from the NRL and then Anasta came out publically with similar claims. Point is we are trying to shake off a reputation that has some substance.

Curtis really shouldn't be saying that stuff to the public though.

But the WT have been run by a boys club for too long now, creating a poor culture of sooks and dummy spitters.

At least now we've got money and are building a new culture

I’d like to see the club sign Madge for another three years. He seems dedicated to the cause and willing to challenge the boys club. I feel he won’t stick around if we continue to miss on recruiting targets though.

He deserves a 12 month extension to see what he can do. I am on the fence with him. Yes he doesn’t have the roster (although one of the reasons he got the gig was because he said he could do something with the cattle at his disposal) but there are many rumours and innuendo regarding his communication that is concerning.

He needs to get us to the eight by the end of 2022. It’s a results driven business and we need to see them.

Hmm, interesting... hopefully it is true, and that he won’t have all those get out clauses in his contract. Although I reckon we’d have to pay massive overs for him just to get a meeting. We’ll see!

He needs to get us to the eight by the end of 2022. It’s a results driven business and we need to see them.

For me you cannot judge him until another 2 years time when all the past mistakes are gone.
He didn't sign any of them and was not the cause for the salary cap breach..
Considering he has had no money to deal with he has done an outstanding job in identifying young talent that don't cost an arm or leg plus added players like AD, AJ, Stefo, Tamau, BJ and i'm sure there is a few more but you get the picture. How many has he brought that have been duds ? ? Not many for me maybe BJ but I think he just needs more ball to be involved.
He has also given pretty much every player game time to allow them to prove themselves before making the call to not resign them. I applaud that

Just regarding the rumours of his communication - For me these concerns are coming out from the players he has advised are not a apart of the future and not resigned. These players have had a soft ride for the last 5-10 years and we now get a coach that knows what it takes to win and they are crying because its too hard. If belly come here to coach he would be doing the same thing and I bet no one would question it.. Yes you need to adapt your coaching to different players but the players need to adapt to a winning coach who knows whats needed because none of them do and the proof is in the last 8 years of failure.

I truly believe he is going to change this club around and be the long term coach here and totally trust his future recruitment decisions until he proves me wrong.

Or
we can do what we have always done and fire him and get another coach so the players can blame him for there failures. (not many good coaches out there to choose from).

I would extend him for another 2 years to show the players he is here long term.

Looking at the Roosters, panthers and storm.
I see a lot of speed, not the social kind haha.
Speed is there weapon along with good direction.
Without speed you can’t win the race, chasing kicks backing up in support, making breaks and not being run down....that’s were they win it every week.
We need speed, it doesn’t matter if there well known or green as Gumby we just need some pace in our back line to give us a leg up.

Spot on.

The 6 again rule has made speed even more important - especially if you have a couple of cluey playmakers and a forward that can offload.

The best way to play at the moment seems be to roll it up, the middle, get an offload, get a six again then go wide at speed for a try

2005 Tigers would’ve killed it with how the games currently played. Big men had skills we loved throwing the ball around and Benji would’ve killed opposition defence lines

just a shame its 2020

#getover2005

Sorry I’ll erase all memory of 2005 and never talk about it again.
Scott Prince’s GF game in 05 made me realise the importance of having a good half back . I was 55 at the time.

Wests Tigers emerge as contender for Joseph Suaalii as Souths end interest
Boom teenager Joseph Suaalii won’t be at Redfern next season despite being offered a stunning four-year deal worth $1.9m — and rivals are circling.

DEAN RITCHIE, EXCLUSIVE, News Corp Australia Sports Newsroom
Wests Tigers have emerged as a shock contender in the messy chase to sign teenage prodigy Joseph Suaalii.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal Suaalii, 17, has told Souths he does not want to play at Redfern next season, despite being offered a stunning four-year deal worth $1.9 million.

Suaalii’s incredible demands — and a lack of desire to represent the famous club — has ended Souths’ interest in the young star.
There are even suggestions Suaalii has managed to tick off his other main suitor, Rugby Australia.

Suaalii was shopped to the Sydney Roosters and, while there was interest, it appears he could struggle to be squeezed in under the club’s tight salary cap.

While the Roosters are the masters of managing their cap, Suaalii couldn’t play his favourite position at Bondi — fullback — due to the long-term presence of James Tedesco.

Suaalii could also be used as a running five-eighth but the Roosters have Luke Keary locked down.
Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire has a huge opinion of Suaalii, who has a striking running game in both rugby codes — league and union.

Maguire helped a young Suaalii when the pair were at Souths. Wests Tigers would have the money to lodge an attractive offer and Suaalii could play fullback at Concord.

Several well-placed sources told The Daily Telegraph of Maguire’s strong interest in Suaalii. Maguire and Wests Tigers chief Justin Pascoe are away on leave.

The Tigers haven’t lodged any offer or opened formal discussions but the club’s interest in Suaalii is genuine. A deal could be struck from 2022 when the Tigers’ salary cap has settled.

Rumours circulated on Thursday that Suaalii was close to signing with the Roosters. This was however denied by those close to Suaalii, who has a development contract at Souths next year.
Suaalii is now deemed by clubs as being a “hell of an athlete with an attitude that is all over the place.”

Despite their dislike for the Roosters, Souths would be prepared to release Suaalii to Bondi for 2021, provided the Roosters pay the Rabbitohs a development fee.

Suaalii has told Souths officials he does not want to play at the club next season, despite the Rabbitohs having nurtured the sports prodigy since the age of 13
Even Souths coach Wayne Bennett has seemingly run out of patience with Suaalii, while there is confusion over who is actually representing Suaalii.

While Souths would never admit it publicly, Souths believe Suaalii and his family have disrespected their club.
The only way Suaalii could return to Souths would be by attending pre-season training — after putting contract negotiations on hold — and showing a hunger and desire.

Suaalii — still at school next year — wanted clauses inserted into his contract stating he could leave after each year, a request laughed off by Souths. One rival club, watching the Suaalii drama unfold, fear the kid could be lost to both codes.

Any potential clubs would be wary about the stipulations Suaalii could place on his any future contract.

Thats what it says. Article by Dean Ritchie, probably read on a forum somwehere.
