Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Wow it appears we have people whinging when the media links us to every signing , and if the club is quietly in negotiations with players and its not spread all over the news then they whinge about that as well , lets show a lil more positivity, it has bugger all to do with membership, that’s something we choose to do to show our support

I think we all just need to reserve our thoughts on the off seasons recruitment until the off season is over last year we picked up players all the way up to the start of the season

I'm pretty certain any developments that take place on the signing front, Madge and Pascoe would only be a phone call away. Unless they are holidaying in regional Turkmenistan I can't see them not picking up the phone.

Really we seem to sit on our hands when it comes to signing players , we get locked in with 1 or 2 players and when they fall throw , the other clubs have picked the best of the rest . We will end up with nothing but inexperienced players , we need hard nosed forwards who run hard and hit harder , not young kids .

Inside knowledge of our dealings with players or just going of what's in the media?

Pretty clearly just the media and this forum.
2022 is when we'll have some good signings.

Agree but find it funny how people think they know all the tiger's dealings with players based on journos who probably get most of their tiger's knowledge from this forum

So i just read that Dogs have got Jack Hetherington, Raider got C Aekins from Panthers...

So my concern is that other clubs are clearly working on recruitment regardless if in finals or not and our CEO and Coach are on holidays..
Now don't get me wrong as they are fully entitled to have holidays like everyone else and won't judge until end of off season but I sure hope they have players lined up and are just holding off on announcements. If not, to me that is just not acceptable because this is a critical period for recruitment and cannot be just sitting back and waiting for leftovers. I know in my workplace there are certain times we are not allow to have annual leave due to workloads etc.. They expect us fans to keep renewing memberships, buying Team Merchandise, Tickets to games etc to keep this team afloat but cannot take recruitment or at least show fans they are serious about it.
We also haven't even announce any resigning of current players that we intend to keep so fingers crossed we are in for a good 4-6 weeks ahead. Rant over

You do realise that we only had expressed interest in Jack Hetherington and that’s all. Ut seems that he was on the ultimate wish list but hey that’s only you.
Our recruitment team consists of more than Madge and Pascoe so no one is asleep at the wheel.
Just get over it .... these people have been in NRL bubble for six months so surely they are entitled to a week off.
The real off season starts on November 1st when the Club should go hard for 2022 season signings and when much more quality cattle come on market.
So let’s not focus on a reserve forward that had couple of good games while on loan to the Warriors ..... and for who the
Bulldogs paid overs for.

Well correct 2021 we can't have much movement because of Mybe/Reynolds/Packer and we should be able to get 5 good players based upon what there on.

Media already writing us off in 2021, just need to selectively smart with whom we purchase knowing these 3 players won't be on the books the following year.

Mbye is signed until end of 2022

Was told he signed with the Bulldogs yesterday.
They backed out of the Blake Green deal. He will go in as an assistant coach at the Knights.
There is a chance Mitchell Pearce comes back to the Tigers or Roosters next year.

After your Tolman joke you are the forum member who cried wolf. This one seems even less likely.

Not a joke this time I’m usually hit and
miss and admit it. Hetherington will end up at Dogs and Pearce roosters.

We really should have put the money towards Hetherington over Tamou. I rate Tamou but Hetherington would be our best forward and has youth in his side. The wildcard is Utoikamanu he could be anything.

Overall our prop rotation is set Tamou, Aloai, Utoikamanu, Mikalele, Twal.

Musgrove?

Good player forgot him. Point was he have plenty of props.

Pascoe wasn't inside the bubble, but everything else is pretty good.

It’s 2020 folks people have phones I’m sure if there’s something important Madge or Pascoe had to do to help sign a player they could get on the phone and help.

We should do whatever it takes to get Nathan Brown back to our club. When he was here before he was just a chubby kid with anger problems. He was brilliant last night in a beaten side, he's become a real leader.

Absolutely. Apart from the bubble the clubs have basically been run remotely in any case. It’s called the Internet and allows instant face to face communications when required.

Great player. We have to make sure we keep these types of players through our juniors into first grade. Retention is our biggest problem of juniors and recruits currently playing at other cubs Tatola, Siro, Moses, Paseka, Tedesco, Papynhuyzen, Matterson, Taupau, Woods, Korobiete it’s a big list of quality players vs our current roster. You can’t keep them all but it’s mind blowing.

Yep, clubs have had to conduct meetings in 2 different buildings that are next to each other by zoom to allow people who are in the bubble to attend with people outside the bubble. All meetings with Tamou and pascoe or Hartigan would have been zoom meetings as well.

I do not agree the Sironens should on the list, they both were given plenty of chances, but miserably failed. Even Garner or MCK are better then any of them! But I would add N Brown, R Stone and Suli to the list.

We signed Tamou through zoom and phone calls and we have had meetings with JAC doing the same.
