Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Clifford to Newcastle
Pearce back to the Roosters
Flanagan to Dogs
Moses to Newcastle
Widdop to the Broncos.

and still no one wants Benji.

It's the fush that we reject that make Wests Tigers the best.

I read somewhere that Benji might be headed to the cowboys to play under Payten....

Few things more Tigers fan then not wanting a 24 yr old who has played almost 100 nrl games, premiership winner, origin the last 2 years, averaged 124m a game and has played under Madge before.

Also injury prone and doesn’t strike fear into opponents. If roosters were paying half his freight then yes, as we could also add a young tiro.

Injury prone ? Has played 41 games in last 2 years

This bloke doesn’t rate Crichton, so anything to run him down, Crichton is streets ahead of anything we have

Actually I said he’s a good player who goes well in great teams. I said I’d take him if roosters pay half. I’d also swap Luciano for him as they’re effectively the same type of player. Garner also. Can ball play and hit a gap, but not dominant aggressive types.

He isn’t what we need currently.

Fair enough mate, with respect, not sure you’d be the recruitment guru at any of the top clubs. Luciano was one of the most improved players in the NRL, but he’d be behind about 25 backrowers.

Troublesome knee, repeated weeks off at different stages and had a finger lopped

I think you'll find he only had one period out, not different stages.

my humble opinion...we get crichton who's better than what we have, will make those who play around him a bit better too. Improve the squad bit by bit. No way are we going to unlock the next Ponga/taumalolo with our juniors, and no way we will get one through open market without paying massive overs. One thing is for sure he definitely won't make our squad worse by being in it.

Angus Chrichton anyone?

The Roosters pursuit of teenage sensation Jopseh Suaalii could see them lose Origin second-rower Angus Crichton as the club begin shedding salary cap space to secure the Rabbitohs junior.
The Daily Telegraph report Suaalii has knocked back a $2 million offer from South Sydney, where he's played his junior rugby league, and is on the radar of fierce rivals the Roosters, who have offered a long-term deal.
Suaali is under contract at Redfern until the end of next year and would need to gain a release if he decides to shift to another club.
While the Rabbitohs are expected to play hardball with their arch-rivals, the Roosters now appear in the box seat for Suaalli's signature, despite Rugby Australia also making an approach with a lucrative offer.
Channel Nine's Danny Weidler told Sky Sports Racing's Big Sports Breakfast the Roosters are the club Suaalii is favouring, but said last year's premiers had "issues" with their roster that needed solving first.

The Roosters have already begun a minor clean-out with the release of Kyle Flanagan and Poasa Fa'amausili on Tuesday.
However, Weidler suggests it could see them also let go of big-money forward Crichton as the club looks to lock up Jake Friend and the Morris twins, as well as Suaalii, in the coming weeks.
"The Roosters are in the process of making room to try and secure Suaalli. I think Kyle Flanagan is a part of that," Weidler said.
"They've got issues, they've got to secure the Morris's, they haven't announced them as re-signings yet; Jake Friend, I think he's got a deal there but they haven't registered that either.. they also want to get Suaalii.

Well Crichton would be an upgrade on Garner I guess if true

I'd take crichton. he'd add some dynamics to our forward pack.

A definite yes, if the price is right.

What would your price be on Crichton ?

what's his contract at the moment? 1 mill? I'd pay in 500k for him with roosters paying the rest

Yeah he’s on 1 Mill
Who’d you rather drop 1Mill on ?
Addo Carr or Crichton?

??? our forward pack needs an upgrade....our backs need an upgrade....

If it came down to giving up Nof or Tommy to get JAC then i would rather drop the cash on Crichton because we lose nothing and get a current origin player for half price.
But at full freight no clauses or hang ups? JAC. I think he would add more to the locker room than crichton and that is intangible but hugely necessary....good locker room means improved results on the pitch.

I am telling you no NRL side fears playing our forward pack. Crichton wouldn’t change that. We need an enforcer like Fisher Harris or Hetherington.

true....but since FH and Hetherington aren't available....we need to look at what we can get to improve our squad, not on what is unattainable. Crichton would improve our pack, is a gf and origin winner. Roosters looking at offloading him so we work that to our advantage, we offer half his wage and our squad is better.
he has also worked under a system led by Madge so knows what to expect, and not snowflake out at the thought of hard work.

I’d rather we spent half the money on the best 19 year old aggressive forward who we know will be a steady improver. Sick of signing other clubs discards

May I ask whom you think are better back-rowers running around? He is not worth a million but at 750-800 he ticks a lot of boxes
PS I think / hope Steph is the 19 year old you seek

IMHO When I left the panthers game we lost after leading it late I said to myself we need speed in the outside backs and one dominant forward and we have the rest already. My opinion hasn’t changed all year. We got Tamou, need a JAC type out wide and still need one more bloke that scares the bejeezus out of players. I actually think were pretty close to a top eight side if we get 2-3 signings spot on.

Everyone keeps talking about backrow, well here is a name who is off contract 2021 and was one of the best players 2nd half of the year and would add to the backrow area where we lack grunt and size - Siosifa Talakai.
This guy is stocky, has a big engine, runs tough lines and was outstanding back end of the year. He would also be cheap.

Another player would be Spencer Leniu (Prop from Penrith) who i think will come into his own next year with Tamou departure but would be a fantastic pick up.
I would also try to bring back the Sironen brother's - both have improved massively since they left. I think Bailey is only now displaying the potential he has always had while Curtis just needed a new settling away from his father to grow into the player he has become (still bit injury prone, but a much better player than when he was here).

Talakai re signed and Lenin had a shocker in the GF, But will be better for it

Everyone keeps talking about backrow, well here is a name who is off contract 2021 and was one of the best players 2nd half of the year and would add to the backrow area where we lack grunt and size - Siosifa Talakai.
This guy is stocky, has a big engine, runs tough lines and was outstanding back end of the year. He would also be cheap.

both Talakai and Leniu are cracking players, but you'd expect both of them to be tied up by their respective clubs. in saying that, there's no harm in trying.

on the Sironen's there's a few whispers around Souths fans that the brothers plan to play with each other for their next contract. one will join the other somewhere, but where that may be is up in the air at this point.

if in fact he gets permission to speak to other clubs, we should be banging down Angus Crichton's door. he would be brilliant for us.
