I’d give Aloiai $500-$600k a season. Very good player who will just keep improving.

Mate I’m no expert, using Tamou as a measuring stick at $350k,would absolutely max out at $400-$450k for Josh A.Tamou was a great deal and is the sort of deals we need moving forward.

Josh had a great year but needs to show he can back it up again this year.wouldn’t get into a bidding war.

Tamou is about to retire though and will not improve Aloiai is in his prime and will just get better. Our pack is weak enough without losing our best forward as well he would be a huge loss. $500k is a good price for him

Not to mention now has two bad knees... will be a major issue in the future for a big guy... Manly are offering/gambling long term with him. I wouldn't go a dollar over $500k for him

Josh A won’t leave he loves the tigers
But I was wrong with tedesco too
If he leaves it’ll be another player who I will go on to despise

He’s got a newborn, earning as much as he can is his priority now. Would be really sad to see him go.

Hopefully the POM is right and we are already close to extending him

I guess I look at that $350k and see a premiership winner, former Australian rep, former SOO player, club captain.bigger average meters per game.experience we don’t have any where in our pack.yes,is on the tail end of his career.

Don’t get me wrong I take your point but $500 is a bit rich yet for Josh. I want to see what he has this year before we go all out.

That’s fair enough. I think/hope he will have another good year next year. He’s thrived under Madge

Clarkey is such a flog don’t believe a word he says 😂 his photo shop skills suck too

If we cannot keep players like Aloiai, then it shows that we did not learn anything, regardless of the new coach - the same old BS.
Lose the best players and keep mediocre plodders!

Plenty of salary cap to use for 2021 now. Hopefully can get Laurie early and get him into first grade, maybe upgrade a few guys we want to keep too. Maybe we could get lucky and someone half decent becomes available

Honestly I’m still keen on signing Josh McGuire. Think he’d be great for us at lock.

If Josh A leaves it's because he wants more money than we think he is worth... An average to above average footballer who couldn't lead our forward pack IMO. He now has two bung knees and wants big dollars... Not sure what everyone is wanting?
Do we want to pay him $500+?

He’s our best forward and the only one that makes over 100m a game. He’d be a huge loss.

Please! !!!

I don't agree. It shows we know our prices and our cattle, and if someone else wants to pay over what we'll pay, we don't get drawn into extended negotiations.

At the moment there are plenty of Aloiai-type players going around. He has plenty of upside and I like the bloke. He does go missing from time to time and drops the footy a little too often.

Maybe he'll go to another level in the next contract, maybe he won't. He's already had 90 games with us for us to have a decent idea what he's capable of across his career.

So Tigers have put a price on that capability and kudos for not becoming a pawn in player manager games to increase the price.

100% with this.

Bit of a whisper s Crichton will make his debut tonight in place of Jack wighton

Thought he was injured?

Not true he is 19th man tonight just a smokescreen

I’m a big fan of this kid. His defence is not as good as it could be, but will improve with experience.

If his defence is that bad, there is no reason he will have any problems fitting into our top 30.

Absolutely right. We've never asked too much of Nofoaluma or Leilua in defence. Why would you do a swap for Melbourne knowing that Bellamy would expect you to make the correct decisions in defence or be dropped.

Not enough realism on here. If we choose to let Aloiai go if he’s offered 650k elsewhere, how do we replace him?
**> It took 800k to get someone like Packer to come here, how much do you think it will cost to get someone of Aloiai’s quality from another team?**

If we’re ever going to have a competitive squad we need to hang onto the few good players we have (Nofa, Aloiai etc).

Thats a fair point.

We have good young props coming through the grades. Young players perform at higher levels knowing they are in with a chance of winning a Top 30 spot with the departure of a NRL player. It is exciting times and refreshes the squad. Being able to replace from within your juniors without the need to enter a bidding war is smart business. If we can negotiate an early release for Garner and Josh A we may be able to be able to pick up their young 5/8.

Roosters let LM go last season and got spanked in the semis, so it happens at all clubs.

Paws, I don’t think it is possible to be really competitive with a developing squad, I want success and I want it now, sick of waiting .
Get some success and add the development into the mix.
