Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The whole JAC saga was about money. When he signed the deal with us he thought it was top dollar, than the Dogs and Rabbits get into his ear about offering more cash. Anyway he knows if he gets a release from the Storm he is contracted to us, so he goes back to the Storm and brokers a upgrade for 2021 and can go anywhere in 2022. Spin doctors go to work to smooth over everything that has been said about family and home sickness.

Now the sort of money JAC will command in 2022 should be reserved for top notch spine players, not top notch wingers or rookie fullbacks. If I were the Tigers I would be putting JAC thing to bed and looking at other options

The only positive with us staying in the JAC market is that we would help lift his price and the team that gets him fills more cap space..

I agree Jones, we shouldn’t waste our time burning bridges. Situations change and we shouldn’t be reacting with emotion. Nobody can accurately predict the landscape in one month, so 12 months?

Sydney ASAP to be with family? Yet he stayed at Storm when they offered up a payrise.
The bloke is 100% full of BS IMO.

He stayed because Melbourne didn’t release him? Do we want him to chuck a matto or joshA and cop even more negative press. We should still have a crack at getting him for 2022

You believe that?

David Mead to Brisbane..

Maybe a result of a little bit of cap space opening up? 👀👀

What a shocking signing. Equivalent of when we signed Rankin

Bit more accomplished than Rankin. Though, it shows what a desperate state Brisbane are in signing a 32 year old who hasn’t played first grade for 3 years.

People saying Jac is only playing for money conveniently forget the 3 family members he's had that passed away in the last 18months

He stayed at Melbourne which makes it pretty clear that it was always about money.

Personally I hope we are not mentioned as in the running for S Crichton. Obvious money grab from new manager

We’re no chance now. I thought he would have made a great fb option for WT, but if he’s happy to play centre then it’s off to the chooks for him. When they fix up his defensive game, they’ll have a world class centre.

Ratu Naulago from Hull FC would have been a handy pickup - big Fijian winger with blistering pace. Unfortunately he is gone to English Rugby after only 1 season in Super League.

Didnt Melbourne deny him the release are people upset jac isn't carrying on like aloiai the pork chop.

Melb denied JAC....but bumped his pay up almost 200 grand a year. I.e. he got what he wanted.

Josh A wants more money also.

Melb and JAC are not some ideal example in this. He wanted out, and forced them to bump up his pay. He is not carrying on with it as he got the extra money.

Both are purely about $$$.

JAC and Lattrell certainly strung WT along for very long seperate rides. Each very deceptive on and off the field.

He stayed in Melbourne so it has nothing to do with Family.

The Storm are not that ruthless and if it was true compassion they would acquiesce IMHO.

he unpopular truth here is that JAC like Latrine before him just didn't want to be the first to come to the Tigers.

We will get someone like titans did with Fafita in due course, A few gutsy wins will give us legitimacy in the eyes of prospective targets

You underestimate the deviousness of the Storm. I would not put anything past them if it was to their advantage.

I agree. The salary cap scandal and their contesting it ten years later speaks volumes.

Nah, he stayed in Melbourne because they refused to release him as they couldn't find a suitable replacement. He's under contract, not much he can do. Other than carry on like Matto/Aloiai and lsoe the respect of everyone in the game. Unless you were involved in the negotiations everything else is just gossip.
They probably apologised and said let's have one last hurah, gave him an extra 100k legally and a brown paper bad with a few hundred k in it and said hopefully this makes up for the inconvenience. That's just as likely as your conspiracy theory.

That's true on the other hand if we state not interested as we have been in negotiations prior and we are no longer prepared to pay fullback $ for a winger we might have Manager's rethink the negotiation strategy with the WT - Either you sign if not there will not be another opportunity later.
