Replacing Reynolds with Widdop is a very sideways move, they’re virtually the same player, injury issues at the back end of their careers. The only difference is Widdop is cheaper

Totally different players. Widdop has a running, passing and kicking game, which Reynolds doesn't.

Both are pretty average. It’s no upgrade really, it’s just cheaper which is fine. Widdop can play round 1 then sit in reserves all year

Absolutely, and that would be the plan. I don't think anyone would be expecting him to play first grade unless there's an injury. I've been really impressed with Hartigan, if he thinks he's ok for a year I have no issue with it.

He has the benefit of being able to cover fullback and 5/8 which is something Reynolds couldn’t do

Signing Widdop probably means we won’t get Laurie early though

You forgot to mention that Widdop also has one great attribute which nobody in our first grade team has - He is very reliable goalkicker which is extremely important due to the close games we are likely to encounter in 2021.

With Madge recent recruitment decisions, I wouldn’t bother listening to the media. He knows what he is doing.

So confused, are people on here talking about another Liddle ? Surely can’t be talking about the one that’s barely played 10 games in the last 3 seasons. To suggest we’re ok at hooker is ludicrous when our options are glass for knees Liddle, Simpkin who’s yet to play an NRL game (do have high hopes for him) and lastly Mbye and that speaks for itself. Give the cheese what he wants

Would prefer we keep Simpkin as back up as he has potential but if we end up with Liddle then so be it. Either can come on at hooker as Brandon Smith goes to lock.

It's possible, he did move his family to QLD and left their Melbourne house back in late June

Who knows, but he's an important piece of the hooker puzzle for sure

I’d say we should sit tight with money, maybe get Nofo across the line before we go any further.

Forum members seem to rate Liddle highly and as soon as someone more credentialed comes along lets chase him????

Lets give Liddle this season to prove himself with Simpkin although i have noted prior his win rate not great.

I tend to agree lets sort out terms with players off contract 1st and see if we can come to a mutual arrangement that we wish to retain then look at who is available.

It sounds like as soon as we have some cap space (Reynolds) some want to just spend it, i would rather retain some $ and upgrade players contracts that perform in 2021.
Build a team within based upon our limited experience that want to play with each other like 2005.
