I think our recruitment is fine ..... slowly building and lots on horizon via both what’s coming through the juniors and money in the bank to strengthen positions with quality when they become available, have the right attitude and are at the right price.

Baits on the hook, she’s cast and now we wait.

This is where it gets hard for WT. 🙏

I think madge doesn’t mind a veteran winger and he knows how to pick them (lote).

I think beyond the preconceived opinions of him on here you will find he has more upside than AJ.

https://youtu.be/uH1hlrEAjV4

More upside than AJ? Seriously, how?

AJ had like 4 or 5 games while showed improvement hasn’t totally proven himself.

Mansour has established himself played finals and still got it.

Pretty clear I thought

Not much upside to a 30 year old outside back. lots of upside to a 20 year old who’s only played a handful of games.

Two players with most expectations are Momo and AJ. Momo will be captain next year if he stays healthy.

No he won't.

I can't believe how highly Momo gets rated. I mean captain. He is a fringe first grader.

I met him the other day and he seems a very quiet shy guy, I don't think he comes across as a captain to me.

We need Douehi to go to rep level then captaincy. Closest we have to a star in my opinion.

I wouldn't be putting the c next to his name yet, I think he needs to settle into his positions 1st. If he doesn't work at 5/8th I'm not sure where we play him.

I think he was hobbled a bit last year and still played really well. Was rock solid under high balls then looked classy at five eighth against Parra. Also played well at centre. He’s an out and out footy player, just needs a bit of class around him, we NEED another quality second rower to take some pressure off him in defence.

I think it looks like an excellent centre that has the potential to transition to 5/8th. He is a very safe fullback but that is as far as it goes in the 1.

The potential for 5/8th comes from the Eels game, I still want to see him improve his passing from right to left and his frontline defence before I am sold on him as a 5/8th. His left to right spiral is killer though.

Tupouniua or Angus Crichton would be my second row targets. Hudson young and Su’a are a little lower on the list for me, but I haven’t seen them play much. Would love a Staggs, S.Crichton or Coates.

Hoppa and Meaney are NOs from me, along with Mansour and Widdop.

I would say he will play predominantly right side as most teams attack is structured that way.

Jury is definitely still out on him in the halves but I’m more confident in him than any of our centres or back rowers with the exception of LL.

Lucy was spruiking AD’s leadership in his media duties the other day FWIW. He specifically mentioned AD and Mbye as the two that stood out. Positive signs at least.

I like AJ but I don't think Momo will be getting more game time than when he was in Melbourne. Slow, small centre with really good fundamentals of playing rugby league. I can't see him having a long career in the NRL but he is a great value for money player in a top team if you don't have talented centres.

Momo is actually quite large (6 ft 3, 90kg). He lost a lot of weight last year due to injury which made him thinner than usual but at full fitness and strength he can look imposing (see trial match v Panthers). Pace wise he’d be average for an NRL centre. Regardless of who starts, I think we’ve got enough depth now at centre to be sweet. He’ll do a good job if called upon.

Momirovski is one of those players if given a little room inside the opponents quarter, he is likely to score. He has the footballing smarts whereas some more highly rated players in the same position won't.

From Craig Bellamy himself ""if Momo wasnt injured he would have been in the grand final side"""...
says quite alot about Momos playing skills and worth..

It says nothing at all. He wasn't picked.

Cant get picked if your out injured Earl,Bellamy had a lot of praise for Momo and it was him that made the swap with Harry possible...Bellamy isnt a weak coach he has the runs on the board and I would take his opinion of Momo over yours mate..

Regardless, he’d be behind BJ, Jet and Talau as far as centres go. Unless there’s an injury or suspension can’t see him getting much time in first grade

Well, I'd have him in front of Talau at this stage - he may end up better than Momo but not at the moment imo.

I'm not sure of his contract status, but Joseph Tapine is exactly what our backrow needs.

Tough, aggressive, skillful, experienced and about to enter his prime.

Again, unsure of his contract status but he would be my Number 1 target with a sizeable offer.

He isn’t a bad player, but way overpaid is the issue and he doesn’t seem to have the biggest “Jake Trbojevic” level care factor in regard to leadership and hunger to succeed it seems from the outside in at least.

I probably wouldn’t re sign him after his contract is up and if he wants out as rumoured id let that unfold if we were compensated

Just a idea.. idk if mattheson johns is with us

But i feel he has the build to be a great 2nd rower

Anyone know if he is still at the club?

You may be right - but we need a top class back rower not someone that is going to transition to back row.

Maybe not Angus (hard to get him away from Rorters but would throw the sink at him) but someone of similar ilk.

The following as well as Angus are off contract at the end of 2021and worth considering imo.

Kurt Capewell, Jack de Belin, Tohu Harris, Jordan Riki, Jaydn Su'a, Sitili Tupouniua, Shane Wright, Isaah Yeo, Hudson Young.

Of course if Blore steps up that would be a big help.

I don’t think I’ve seen our Captain really challenge a refereeing decision for a couple of years. Too many nice guys.

Jake Turbo is probably in the top 3 players in the game. Wish he would come here.

Horofully Blore becomes that top class back rower for 2022. Then we can spend big elsewhere

Agree but I’d think it’s at least a couple of seasons until he’s top class, he’s half a dozen games in. Having a top class one in the team may help his development

More than likely it will take a couple of years until he's reached his potential, and having a top class back rower will help his development.

What if he turns out to be as good as David Fifita?

I'd be hoping he would be a bit better than that.

Two players with most expectations are Momo and AJ. Momo will be captain next year if he stays healthy.

He’s heaps better right now.

I knew you would come back with that reply - if only my lotto tickets were as sure a thing.

You disagree with me - that is your opinion. I disagree with you - that is my opinion.

We agree to diasagree once again.

Getting B.Smith will be the difference between us being a top 4 side or being a bottom 8 side for the next 10 years.
Imo we can't wait 3yrs to see if one of our current 9s is a rep player then go looking for one if they're not.

This is the biggest get the club could pull off for a long time

Disagree - he is not as good a DH as Liddle - good at a lot of other things but his passing from the ruck is rank.

Thats why he plays for NZ and Liddle struggles to make a side that has finished out of the 8 for 2 decades

If you think Smiths passing from the ruck, or speed from the ruck is better than Liddle - you are delusional.

Besides Liddle can't play for NZ - he is not a NZ'er.

If you think Liddle is a better player you're beyond delusional

***That is not what I said!***

So why has he played for the jr Kiwis, New Zealand and New Zealand Maori if he's not a Kiwi?

***You are telling me that Liddle is a NZ'er and a Maori......you are delusional!!***

I'm not telling you that, his rep career history is

Liddle is from Gosford - how would he be considered for NZ selection?

I think madge doesn’t mind a veteran winger and he knows how to pick them (lote).

I think beyond the preconceived opinions of him on here you will find he has more upside than AJ.

AJ had like 4 or 5 games while showed improvement hasn’t totally proven himself.

Mansour has established himself played finals and still got it.
