Its like employing a financial planner
They are there to help you get the best return on your money

Financial planners being there to get you the best return is actually the complete opposite way to the way the industry works. Financial planners are there to take money out of your hand and offer nothing at all in return.

Warren Buffet agrees with me.

Just for the record, that is not my quote, I was responding to that quote.

My quote was,

"As long as we don’t employ Elijah’s financial planner.
Some of them don’t want to return your money."

So I guess, along with Warren Buffet we both agree on the usefulness of financial planners.

As a financial planner, thats a little offensive. There are plenty of good ones out there that you don't hear about. Its only the rogues that get the attention - all industries have them.

Sorry if I offended you, and I would agree that there are good and and bad operators in every industry, and I take it that you are one of the good ones in your industry.

I understand that there has been a bit of a shake up in the industry in recent times relating to disclosure of commissions and requirements to put clients' interests first and for financial advisors to disclose any conflicts of interest.

However, various inquires and Banking Royal Commissions haven't done a lot to enhance the reputation of financial advisors.

My own personal experience with 2 or 3 financial advisors that I have had initial meetings with haven't really given me the confidence to part with the 2 or 3 thousand dollars that they wanted to come up with a plan for my particular situation.

Thats fair enough Hank. The Royal Commission has started raising the bar ie. degree required etc which can only be good for the industry.

Many people are skeptical about advisers for good reason but hopefully that changes once the riff raff has exited.

Financial Planner (and my naivety) cost me $250K after investing in Great Southern and Timbercorp investments. I was lucky - some others committed suicide. Good and bad in every industry- I found the worst grub on the planet

Wow .. that’s a pretty horrific ordeal to go through mate ..
You must have a well paid job in order to recover ..

Went overseas and earned good money. Got me out of trouble. But cost me my marriage and a lot of mental stress I can tell you. Remarried and building a new house now - means a lot in so many ways mate. It’s been a journey

I went through the breast cancer crap with my ex...the chemo and therapy mixed with different drugs got the better of both of us...It really hurts when you personally know your doing your best but end up with a kick in the guts.I have remained very amicable because I know what she went through..in a word horrific..However,I almost wanted to drive my ute over the Macquarie pass because I was in a state of confusion and was hurting..Now I try and keep a sensible head on my shoulders because I know I would hurt family members in more ways than one by doing what I wanted to do..the WTs are my real oak in my life that helps me converse with my forum buddies as well as give me an interest in life..If I get to meet some one I hope she loves the WTs as much as I do..
Theres always hope I suppose...

Sorry about hijacking this thread guys...

Nothing to be sorry about Mate.

We've all probably been through hard times, but your particular situation has been really tough, but it looks like you are bouncing back and keeping a positive attitude.

Good to see you spending time on the forum as it sound like it's a good outlet for you and that you are getting enjoyment from it.

Don't ever be afraid to say what you think or what you feel on this forum as I believe that when it comes down to it the vast majority of people on here actually give a damn, even if we don't always agree on everything.

Hang in there and here's hoping that 2021 is a better year for everyone on this forum and for the Mighty Wests Tigers.

I agree with this fully and feel that is a very good point for @Blaze @supercoach @TrueTiger and @tigersteve . I have dealt with some demons over the last 5 years and this forum has been a source of support for me during that time. There are so many people I disagree with regularly on here but these same people knowingly and unknowingly helped me through my darkest days. This place is home and a place of great support for me.

Really pleased that you have come out and said that because I wasn't all that sure how my comments were going to be received.

I was really only going off my own personal experience and have found that I have been spending a lot more time on this forum in recent times as I have found it to be a great escape from the events of this year that have really had a profound effect on my life and I would imagine the life of many others on this forum.

Many thanks to those that put in the hours to make this forum possible and also to the many contributors that make this the great place that it is.

Exactly mate, I have also been lucky enough over the past couple of years to meet a few people from on here and the friendships and support that has resulted from that has played a very important part in my life.

Just goes ro show how special.this small corner of the web is here at the WTF.

We have friendship, support, common pasion and common enemies.

No one here should ever feel that alone.

We are family

2021 - Tigers go on a 5 win streak mid year, with us ending up at 3rd overall heading into finals, hopefully a Leichhardt Oval home game so I can finally make the trip from the NT to the wonder of the world for my first time.

LETS GO TIGERS!

Mentioned on here a few days ago that Mansour should be done by next week, but things have changed... Mansour has told a mate of mine 'Not happening news to me', unless he's lying but he seems like a good guy. Guess we have to wait and see what happens ?‍♂️

Gebbie/kei Mansour

Geo/happy Mansour

Do we need to report to Concord next week .....

Yeah
One to clean the jock straps and one to peel the oranges
Take your pick

Geo's pretty fruity ..he used to straighten bananas for a living .....and you don't peel oranges CT

I’ve been seeing everyone shrug off the idea of Pearce coming here, not sure if it’s even a possibility but I genuinely think it would be such a fantastic signing

Think what you want of Pearce, but there’s no denying his leadership on the field and his premiership winning experience from a strong system with the Roosters and we all know he is a fanatic player

I think the most beneficial aspect of this would be the impact it would have on Brooks, for the first time actually being partnered with an experienced 7 who can steer the ship around and allow brooks to play 6 and play his natural game through his running game and short kicking game, similar to how Kurt Mann was flourishing being partnered with Pearce last year.

I think Brooks and Pearce would be a great combination, I wouldn’t be against the signing at all tbh

Hi all, happy new year. I have just caught up on this thread and been so impressed by the support for forum members doing it tough. Forums like this are an outlet for passionate fans like us. A win on the weekend from our team can change the mood of a whole week. Here’s to a prosperous 2021 with the Jet, Joffa, (fit) Joey, a strong pack and an untried but talented spine ...

I hope not, completely wasted on the wing and not a big enough frame for the dirty carries which is 80% of a wingers job these days.
