Another thing with simpkin is that he hasnt played footy in a long time...harry came off a year of CC

He's barely even played reserve grade. People want to throw him in early and will be disappointed and attack him when he's not an instant star. Gotta let him play against men in reserves for a few weeks at least before putting him in top grade there's no rush

People can't expect Harry Grant 2.0. Harry is just on another level, can't remember a rookie season that good for a long long time

I think we are all overeacting with the Liddle,Simkin thing.I think both will get a run,and whatever works best with the 1,6,7,and 9 combination will get the job.Again good hookers are rare ,and i doubt we would let either go.The Tigers i expect will wait to see how both perform before extending contracts,the same with Doeihie and Madden.It's a good position for the club to be in.

Yes, 9 million cap and 2.25 goes on two players.
Proctor must be on 400k minimum.
AJ Brimstone surely must be fielding offers around the 500k+ mark. There are a fair few that should be on decent coin.

Agreed. Mybe is not a hooker so must avoid him being the second in line at all costs. Walters is no great loss however I thought he played well in the few times he got a run.

Injuries play a big part in the game.Forwards can be moved around to cover injuries except for the hooker.The backs the same except for 1,6,and 7.It is vital to have a quality backup for these positions and i think that is why Walters is valuable to this side,because he can cover 6,7,and 9. Fullback is still the position of concern,we hope Laurie kills it,but we have little in the way of backup,as shown last year. This is our biggest worry i think.

Robbie Farah is no slouch.

He's coached Simpkin for all of a few months, not 3 years. I think it'll be good for our guys though, Robbie's style suits the new rules.

I think , a bench spot is as good as gold for him . It’s clear Mbye has 1 foot out the door , even though I know he won’t let us down . Outside of the change of coach and his positioning within the club, Mbye is what 26? He’s got a young family and he’s away from his extended family . I wouldn’t even be surprised if Covid has made him rethink his priorities , hence all the talk of heading back to south east Queensland .
Simpkin can develop slowly off the bench , for the next couple of years , share the duties with Liddle . Preserve his body in the process . If I was Simpkin’s manager , this is what I’d be advising him . Spend the next few years building a reputation, building muscle , working on the game , picking Robbie Farah s brain ,(who isn’t Cam but he’s the next best thing ), and then when my 21st birthday hit , I’d start to push into the representative/ elite space , via a starting job , hopefully here. By that time Liddle will be 27/28, so the succession plan should be pretty smooth .

Walters is injured for half the year.
He will be reggies unless we have an injury crisis & would be 3rd choice hooker.

Simpkin we are banking on in the longterm.
Liddle could be massive for us if his body holds up, he is due for a change in luck & will be fine for 80mins.

Mbye unless he is traded will be in the top 17, he will start game 1.

In all honesty though how much of Harry grant did u see before we through him in our first grade team? I seen a couple of games where he came of the bench which isn’t a hell of a lot of first grade experience! These young kids (j.Simpkin) have been playing against other kids who are the same size as first graders and have a lot more passion because they are trying to break through! For our coaching staff to be impressed and saying he will be in the 17 he must have what it takes. It’s like when ur applying for a job these days everyone wants experience but u can’t get that because no one will give u a crack. I think he looks ready and clearly madge and co think the same! We can’t not play young players because they don’t have the experience and it’s just hype! Clearly it’s not just hype when our coaching staff say he’s a real talent and so does a lot of other commentators and scouts etc ! I do believe liddle should get first crack but I also think if we through j.Simpkin in he would have no dramas killing it for us just like Harry did to an extent

Agree with carltonl.The coaching staff are not idiots,if Simkin plays and he's not up to it,well back to CC. It's all negative,Laurie-- to small,not enough 1sst gde.Madden too small not enough 1st gde,--Simkin too small,to young,not any 1st gde.--Cini,can't tackle (hes a kid) Kepoa can't catch a ball(had eye operation) and on it goes.How does anyone get promoted to the top grade at the Tigers? REPEAT--THE COACHING STAFF WILL KNOW IF THEY ARE READY.
