There's a lot of optimism on this forum this preseason but I don't really see it. I like what Madge is doing in well priced athletic young players everywhere but we'd have one of the worst rosters in the league. Not bad players, most would make NRL squads, but no elite talent anywhere. Madge has cleaned the squad out a fair bit and I expect more short term pain for all that. I hope the new players work out and doueihi and mbye moving positions again, but there's really nothing yet to suggest we're competitive this year. I think next year is when I expect us to compete. This year anything above 12th would be a pretty good job by Madge. Again, I think we're doing the right things it is just going to take more time overcoming cleary's squad so I'm hoping the right players show promise this year and we're finally able to recruit quality players with money to spend to start lifting this team. For your own wellbeing, I'd encourage you just to look at the other NRL teams and think objectively about how many of our players would add much to other teams. I only really think brooks, twal, nofo, tamou, Luciano would attract much interest from other clubs. Maybe I'm forgetting 1 or 2 but most teams have better lineups.

Although I agree with this post ..... “worst roster” should not be part of the narrative.
In my assessment We are still a mid table side which will struggle because our spine is not settled, no established goal kicker and we are lacking in back row/ lock quality & experienced player.
There are more questions than answers about this side and that is not a good look.
But saying that I have hopes and am looking for improvement on last years efforts and that eventuates than we are just couple of good players away from the finals.

Idk about worst roster, but the spine is bottom 3.

Just off the top of my head, I’d take our spine over Dragons, Broncos, Bulldogs, and probably Titans and cowboys.

Black, White and Gold glasses here

Didn't we finish above most of them last year? I rest my case.

Are Harry and Benji in the spine this year? I rest my case.

Benji was let go. Are you saying we'd have a better spine with him at WT this year?

I’m pointing out that the spine you’re referring to from last year isn’t what it is this year. Such a ridiculous thing to support your argument with. It has zero relevance to 2021.

Yeah and my point is we upgraded at 6. Try to read.

Titans ...yeah right ....lol

I’d only take Brimson from their spine

And Fogarty ......glasses everyone ...remove your WT's glasses before you comment on the Forum please

27 year old journeyman who only made his debut last year? I just genuinely think we have better

Well he outplayed Brooks in 2020 ...based on that form .....we have a winner

A lot of halves played better than Brooks in 2020. But at the same time his ability was restricted ( in my view )

He has a lot more ability than what he showed in 2020 and you’re kidding if you think otherwise

And Fogarty will just get much better with that forward pack in front of him

Go and support the Titans then, you’ll see Brooks run laps around Fogarty.

When the team is ran by a dominate older player demanding the ball all the time because he “thought” he could break the game open himself, followed by a young player that had his debut that was on LOAN, of course Luke Brooks didn’t get some if not ANY ball.

So yes true that Fogarty did play ONE good year then Brooks, regardless of this, I could go through all the stats of Brooks across the other years and it would be better than Fogartys stints in 2017 and 2020.

Yeah looked great against a half assed Manly side when he had 70 % possession ...based on 2020 form Fogarty was better ...true or false mate

Go follow the Brisbane Jets ..
?
You could be coach !

Possibly......I known Steven Johnson for years

You could escape the wrath of your mrs for weeks on end !
You’d love it ...
Brisbane jets...

So what ...I can base my 2021 form on my 1987 form

Or Kingstown Town could still win a Melbourne Cup based on its 1984 form

No ...you base it 2020 form ...it's that simple mate ..and then you don't have to bung on 50 excuses for him

Yeah completely agree. Brooks knows he has to own the team from now on or a one way ticket out of the club awaits. He looked confident. Its not going to be easy but the forwards looked good, Doueihi looks good, pace in the backs, keep Tyrone as far away as possible. Things are looking up!

It 's good to know Madden has been signed for 2022. Giving him experience in the NRL is what he needs. With the shortage of quality halves in the NRL he will be valuable for WTs.

Looking at our roster and assuming we sign Amone, Tuilagi to the top 30 we have 29 and plenty of cap room.

Packer, Mbye, Walters replaced and upgraded will get us into contention. This team as constructed may take another 12 months but Madge is building a total squad.

👏

I'd prefer we try and promote the talent from within myself

Why go out and sign these talented youngsters from elsewhere if we aren't going to have them training and learning from the best players our club has to offer

Sign Hastings for this season the club is on its way to a top 8 finish Maybe a top 6... injuries will be the defining factor.

Purely on name recognition. It’s definitely better than the broncos , Titans , warriors , cowboys , bulldogs , and manly . (Turbo is gone for a long time ) . It’s arguably better than the dragons and sharks as well , with Johnson out. I think people need to actually go and have a look at what other teams are fielding in round 1 . In the last few years a lot of experience and names , are no longer in first grade , or playing in SL. I’ll go through them if you like ?

SECOND ROW FORWARD COMING THIS WEEK. OR SO I HAVE HEARD.

I don’t understand sorry ? I don’t have any mail ,if that’s what you’re alluding to, and never have .
