Danny Weidler reporting Hastings returning to the NRL next year with Tigers front runners to sign him.

We'd be the only runners. Seriously if this true, our recruitment has reached a new low. I believed Joey Leilua to be right down there.

Why would Hastings be a new low?

I informed a friend of mine. He and his family have links to Illawarra footy. His first comment is why do some coaches believe they are the exception when others have failed (in relation to recruiting players who have a history)? This is the same gentleman who pointed out a young 16 year old Ryan Girdler as a future star. I listen when someone of that background makes comment.

No offence intended mate but I dont think we should entirely write off this potential signing based on your mate who has connections to Illawarra footy.

No offence taken. But if we are considering or have signed Hastings, I despair for our club and its future.

What did Hastings actually do? No one has ever said. He also seems to have matured a lot after being exiled.

Blow up witb DCE and most of the other players in the team was the last thing I remember. He didn't seem to get along with many people wherever he went.

Blow up with DCE wow didn't see that coming

And this is what I mean. He's essentially been run out of the country based on a bad attitude at this point. I assume he did something really nasty off field that has been ignored or covered up because he's a nobody

The question is - do the likes of Hastings, Lumelume, Naden and whoever else has been mentioned actually make us a better team?

Yes it provides further depth but does it provide the extra skill factor we need to match it with the top 4-6 sides?

It’s a good question. I think Naden is certainly an upgrade and Lumelume has the potential to be a brilliant signing, but is still young and learning his craft now. Hastings is a mystery.

I can learn to like Hastings if he turns up for us.

If he turns our fortunes around I'll be satisfied, if he does that he can go around kicking babies in his spare time for all I care.

EDIT: Thinking about it, I reckon Hastings might not necessarily be a replacement for Brooks, but replacing Mbye.

He was only 22 at the time and some young men do not mature as quickly as others. If ruffling the feathers of a few ego's is the worst he has done I think he is probably entitled some leeway. His price tag would be thing I am most concerned about. He is still relatively in proven here.

It's silly to write him off before he's even here. Certainly hasn't had issues at his current club and will probably be a solid addition to our squad

Yep , no doubt people can change. But this a sporting environment where blokes are showered with fame and money which is not what the average Joe are used to. It fuels their ego

it’s easy to look good on the outside. I think his changed persona over in England is a bit of a crock tbh

I doubt he'd be competing for a starting spot in ESL. At the Sea Eagles and Roosters he was.

Hastings is an absolute tosser know some mates that used know him pretty well, let go from Roosters and Manly.
Don't think he will get 7 ahead of Brooks but could be ok as a utility
