Lot of talk about Hastings playing as a ball playing lock

Big question is this ...how will Hastings cope with having to make 40 plus tackles 24 weeks a season

Have a look at his tackling record.
Pretty sure when he was at the roosters he led the league for tackles made by a half. His a big half and a good defender.

He will make double the tackles ...every week ....24 Rounds ...it isn't as easy as you tried to make it sound ...more defence ...more fatigue ....more fatigue ...more injuries

Is he really a lock ? He looks like a halfback who is a game manager to me.

Perfect, just what we need.

Modern day Michelangelo - SMH article referring to Marshall.

Marshall has and still is a wonderful player. His attacking skills masked the deficiencies in our attack.

I wish he were still here but Bennett has him playing well and no doubt enjoying his football at 36!

I still enjoy watching you even though you are not with the WTs.

Benji was very close to going to the bulldogs. Do you think the bulldogs would be doing much better if he was in there team? I would rather blood douhei for a year and not have the best results then have Benji run around for another year and us come 10th.

Benji only looks this good because of the team he’s in. He’s not without the ball for half of the game and he’s surrounded by other superstars and a solid forward pack. Had he gone to the bulldogs, while there would still be moments of magic he wouldn’t be able to perform like this

I just dont like the fact that Benji praises South Sydney more than god himself, further to this, if you follow him on social media, you'll see that he non-stop posts about them..

This is where and what I hate, because he NEVER posted or talked the Wests Tigers up... but instead white anted his way into the media, even telling people to choose contracts over clubs... zero loyalty.

My thoughts exactly. it’s a team full of internationals and SOO players.

I get you might be annoyed but that is a highly emotional and grossly disproportionate response to his actions.

In no way does your statement represent my feelings to easily our greatest player.

Looks to me that many have given up on this team with the very poor performance of the team and well below performance of the coach it beggars believe that people are still on about Marshall I think the club and team have bigger issues

Funny you say that. I guess you believe that every game last year that the eyes up attacking footy that Marshall was playing was bought about by him going against the coaches structure also...

When I look at Marshall's career, it is the Sheens' era that l link with him. Those silky skills are still with him at 36. What an amazing career and player.

He is not a lock forward. He is a half -5/8 nothing more, nothing less. Murray/Radley are exceptional players for their size and have played that way all through their juniors hence why they excel.

I have never been a big believer of the Prop model into Lock role. The Bradley Clyde model is the best example of a Lock Forward and the closest that ever came to that was Sam Burgess. That is the model you need to follow. Nothing more, nothing less.

Twal is not a lock forward nor is Big Joe. I like Nathan Brown, however he is a poor mans prop forward. John Bateman would have been a great lock forward and personally I would go after the following:

Ben Currie (Warrington Wolves) - would be great edge or lock option (think G Ellis type)
Jack Williams (Cronulla) - rate this kid. Rough edges but plays tough.
Shawn Blore - would be great at lock, needs to play long minutes though.
Josh Jackson (Bulldogs) - massive long shot
Bayley Sironen - I personally think would be dynamic at lock with his work rate and ball skills.

IMHO, Simpkins is my preferrence for the lock, big body, mobile, with good offloads.

Benji looked after himself when the Club didn't want to sign him for another year. He proved he did have another year in him. His play is great to watch and I am in awe if his ability at 36. The Morris twins as well. Great football players they have been.

I agree, and Hastings will be 7 if not the start of next year, it will be early rounds, in my opinion he is coming to do what Brooks can't.

I think we should also offer the Morris twins a 1 year deal it woukd have to be on massive overs
Just read I think about how there professionalism has inspired Jwhs resurgence just what we need to be teaching our young side

I suggested this 3 years ago, and was told no more retirement funds, look how they have played the last few years, we could have really used them

Reynolds to sharks
Mmbye to Brisbane
Moylan maybe to Brisbane

This your guess or inside mail?

the only one I had mail on is Reynolds to sharks got it last week and posted it.
Did hear from someone connected to Roosters that was happening and I'm guessing that may be through Fitzgibbon not sure.
what i also heard last week from same Roosters contact was Shaun Johnson to Broncos wich again I posted last week, this looks even more likely with Dearden now Signing with the cowboys
In relation to moylan that is a pure guess and so is Mmbye to Brisbane I have zero mail on that at all.

Reynolds to sharks looks likely to be announced next Tuesday I was told, got told by someone who is a physio and in the know at a Sydney club that Moses to stay at Parramatta and Shaun Johnson extremely likely to sign with Brisbane
I did ask about Mmbye and he said had know idea but if Staggs does leave Brisbane good chance he may end up at broncos.

Can we go hard for staggs then?

if staggs leaves Brisbane like Kent said on 360 he will likely go to Parramatta to replace fergo money

Parra said Fergo signed a reduced deal, so that money won't cover Staggs, might cover 50%, unless they use the Roosters model, player is playing for $400k, when he leaves and that opens up $800k in the cap

I agree for these players to be doing what they ar doing at that age is phenomenal. Benji will always be one of my favourite tiger players and will always have a soft spot for him and Robbie for getting us that premiership. I think it would have been detrimental for us to have him for another year. Not having Benji here means we have Laurie at fullback and douhie at 5/8 which hopefully brings us the next round of success at this club.

Agree, doesn’t matter if we have Gasnier and Inglis in the centres. They don’t get the ball other than a dummy half run.

I don’t see it simply as a halves issue nor plural at that, with one getting more than the other and sadly a right centre that basically never sees it and when he does, defences are already in his face.

There are a few factors. As good as Laurie has been, when we're in the opposition 20, as soon as he gets the ball everything stops. Sometimes fear of obstruction, sometimes he turns around and runs the other way, but it's a problem.

Yes, it's very disjointed. Hopefully the more time spent there the more it starts to gel.

Brooks won’t see another first grade game once Hastings is here unless, Hastings gets injured
