If Roberts could actually get some early ball or some grubbers put through the line for him I am sure he would be doing better. I dont understand why so many teams spread it wide when inside their own 20 n we dont when we have a real fast player in Roberts

I keep saying the halves are the problem until this is fix Zip.

Agree, doesn’t matter if we have Gasnier and Inglis in the centres. They don’t get the ball other than a dummy half run.

I don’t see it simply as a halves issue nor plural at that, with one getting more than the other and sadly a right centre that basically never sees it and when he does, defences are already in his face.

There are a few factors. As good as Laurie has been, when we're in the opposition 20, as soon as he gets the ball everything stops. Sometimes fear of obstruction, sometimes he turns around and runs the other way, but it's a problem.

I'd say he could run at the line..

but, he is quite small (in the league world)

The club just updated their top 30 for this year and beyond. There are 8 spots left to fill for 2022. The list also confirms that Roberts and Joey’s contracts are club options for 2022. So that’s potentially 10 spots. There’s no way the club can carry both into next season. Roberts, I’m willing to give a chance to, depending on how his form is over the second half of the year. Joey can go now for all I care.

They haven't listed what's going on with our development players either. Be interested to see which ones might come into the NRL squad, if they're guaranteed or club options

Agree but the club also needs to be careful how they handle Joey's exit as we want to keep his brother.. I would be trying to extend LL ASAP and that way it wont have an effect on his decision. Cannot see Joey been here next year unless he somehow starts playing like he used to for Raiders.

I don’t mind Lucy, I’d like to see him re-signed. But if he wants to throw his toys out of the cot cos his brother gets let go, then he can go too.

Joey is in a contract year with alot to play for, he had a reality check for a few weeks in reserves so lets hope the beast wakes up and he plays some decent footy. If not don’t care what the repercussions are he can’t be given a deal next season unless its minimum wage.

JTJ can see we will keep given his salary, its very low risk and doubt we could snare 2 nrl centers between now and next season.

For those who watch UK super league, does anyone have an opinion on Wigan centre Oliver Gidart who we are apparently chasing? From wiki I can see he is 6 foot, 24 years old and eligible to play for Italy based on mother’s heritage.

If he is good hopefully Hastings can get in his ear to bring him over... Couldn't do any worse really

Yea, but if you can be delicate about it , and have the opportunity to not antagonise one of a handful of bright spots in this team , you’d take it wouldn’t you ? I think Joey would know that he’s probably only real chance at renewal is the league minimum , or a potential move to the back row.
In saying that , he’s be crazy not to take the ludicrous money that’s about to be thrown his way overseas . He would destroy the SL . And if he wanted to really do something eccentric he could try the North American League .

I think we should also offer the Morris twins a 1 year deal it woukd have to be on massive overs
Just read I think about how there professionalism has inspired Jwhs resurgence just what we need to be teaching our young side

I suggested this 3 years ago, and was told no more retirement funds, look how they have played the last few years, we could have really used them

Hard to know how they would’ve gone had we signed them. They go great in the star studded Roosters team, as does Benji in the star studded Souths team. But Benji really struggled playing with us and the Morris boys also struggled when they were playing for the lesser Dogs side of 2018.

All are great players still into their mid thirties but all would struggle in a team like ours imo, just ask Nick Cotric.

Madge & Hartigan have made some fantastic recruitment and retention decisions, especially with players under the age of 22. We may not see the results but the signings will pay off long-term.

Surely you're not that old!!! 🙂 I'm hoping they will start benefitting us in the next year or so 🙂

BJ has been rubbish and his brother has been ok in a well beaten team. What club is gunna pick up that combination? were not talking turbo's or Moriss's here. If LL wants to play with his brother so bad he can follow him to the Super league next season. If he wants to play NRL he can stick with Wests and facetime BJ on the weekends.

Be careful antagonising Luciano by being too harsh on Joey L. If we treat Joey like crap then Luciano could easily sign with another club for 50k or 100k less and a chance at finals or SOO
This needs to be done carefully by the club and the Leilua's

But what's to harsh? Not throwing 500k a season at his brother? Neither are good enough to be held to ransom. I'd hope Wests would be smarter than that. Players running the show never works out well.

From LL's comments in interviews doesn't sound as if they are joined at the hip.

Im sure just advising we will not be taking up the CO in 2022 will be enough to keep all parties happy, except BJ of course

Any talk of Fitzgibbon being upgraded to Development or NRL contract? Seems to be improving steadily each week, getting more involved, doing the hard carries and showing glimpses of his outrageous speed. His attitude looked a million times better last week than it did in week one, he also looks pretty comfortable under the high ball (at least as good as Nofa...)
