Our 3 highest paid players are Moses Mbye, Rus Packer and BJ Leilua plus we have 700k unspent.

Mbye - 800k
Pakcer - 750k
Bj - 600k
Unspent - 700k

2.85m delivering about 300k worth

We Re effectively playing $2.5m under the cap.

Imagine if you could swap that 2.5m top end money for any other 3 players on the comp. We would be top 8 and prob top 4.

It isnt the coaching, it isnt the effort its purley too level talent.

Not 1 player from our club will be in an origin discussion - we are the only club that can say that .

Bj on more than brooks ?

Madge spend on a half back

He must have forgotten Brooks- he is our highest paid player on 900k per season.
Get rid of him and the other 3 and we’re laughing.
PS You can throw in Nofo and Talau as well.

Do we actually have proof that Brooks is on 900k per season?

He read a buzz rothfield article, it must be true

Reported in a Fox Sports article last month regarding Hastings coming here.
Our most expensive and protected dud.

? line sinker

He’s on more like 650k-700k

Fox sports also said Mbye was on a million the year he played origin

No. He's on 850k.

We very stupidly re-signed him straight after he won Dally M halfback of the year, right when his price was at its highest. Very poor management, but they just didn't want to lose their star... ?

And then if we don't re-sign him after he wins the Dally M and goes on to excel at another club (which he would likely do) people would be calling for heads to roll and using that as an excuse to bash the club. Damned if you do damned if you don't.

St George Illawarra has told Matt Dufty that he is "free to go" as the Dragons look to part ways with their star fullback.

Off-contract for some time now, Dufty recently revealed talks over an extension at the Red V had stalled despite being arguably one of the Dragons' best performers week-in week-out.

But, speaking on Nine's 100% Footy, veteran league reporter Danny Weidler revealed the Dragons were eager to move Dufty on and potentially target boom Storm gun Nicho Hynes.

The games gone crazy, yes Hynes looks ok, but the market three years ago would probably only have offered him half of what he will be offered today. It's a feeding frenzy lol.

Be that as it may, if we don't go as hard as possible for Hynes AND Dufty then we deserve to be the perennial bottom-feeders that we are.

They are worth more to us than nearly any other club. Pay them.

I second the motion, they both have speed and the ability to find a hole. My only concern with Duffy, is why the best attacking player in their side, is being let go. There has to be more to this story. Also though Laurie is playing well, at this stage he is not in Duffies class, i expect the forum would explode.

It will get worse once they announce the new 17th team there will be a lot one year contracts

Dufty might be okay on the wing. But he is self-entitled and *thiiiick* as a brick. Perhaps getting out of the fishbowl of the Gong would be good for him.

Hynes would be good imo Dufty wouldnt be

Matt Dufty would bring a new element to our backlines attack which would be beneficial

Laurie as a 6, Doueihi to Centre and Dufty to fullback would be lethal in years to come

Dufty on a 2 year deal, 2nd in the clubs favour on around 500k would be great imo and would push him to be at his best

Agree. Dufty is a rocks and diamonds player. He's abysmal in the defensive side of the game. A liability under high balls and makes many judgement errors with what to do with kicks along the ground. I swear some people only watch highlight reels and get carried away. There's a reason Griffin wants to get rid of him

Dufty is such a hot and cold player, has been average his entire career.

People just see a highlight video of him running the field with speed and think suddenly he's our savior, ignoring the fact pretty much outside of speed the rest of his game is average. We have way too many average footballers in this side as is.

He wouldn't come to play wing and he is NO upgrade on Laurie (who has only played a handful of first grade games and IMO is already just as good as Dufty).

If the dragons have been trying to move you on for multiple years then you're not a top grade fullback.

So the difference in the cap between having a good coach (who attracts players- the Robinsons, Bennets, Bellamys ) is $400K for some players.

I don't believe this for a second. How many on here are going to give up 400k in income.

Latrell gave up $500k to knock us back

Latrell has moments of brilliance, but he is lazy. His overall participation in a game is poor. He plays in patches as his fitness is poor. How many backs play with a beer belly ?
I have no doubt some of his fellow teamates would be unhappy with his attitude. The mice deserve him!

I agree he isn’t worth the money we offered, but the fact remains he turned us down, plus I think he would have helped attract better players

This snippet is about a week old if correct
WTFORUM.
Now, the Dragons have expressed interest. They met with Moses Mbye and they've said to Moses, 'We could make you an offer, as long as you're willing to come right now'.
Why didn't someone pack his bags and call him an user. This season is over move him on and give the young blokes ago if they don't cut the mustard it's better to now than next year

The offer wasn't big enough
