Anyone have much opinion on the following backs:
Greg Marzhew
Will Penisini (under contract until 2023)
Dean Ieremia
Billy Smith (2 season ending injuries but the roosters sure seem to rate him)

I don't see us grabbing any superstar centre/wing and it's probably not the right place to throw the cash at. If we want someone with a bit more experience:
Matt Ikuvalu (doubt roosters will let him go if Morris is done, but he sure knows how to find the line)
Philip Sami (rocks and diamonds but geez he has some speed to burn)

If Brooks goes to Canberra can you imagine the so called journo's putting us to the sword. Poor retention another one that got away ect ect

Personally for whatever reason i think Brooks has hit his ceiling here,its like his comfortable job where he just turns up and gets paid but it doesnt challenge him. If he goes to the raiders i think he'll do well and good luck to him if thats the case. If he stays here i think the next 4 yrs will be rinse and repeat something has to give.

Look , I'm one of his harshest critics but that doesn't mean I don't think he's got talent.
Going to Canberra would most likely benefit him as he'd be working directly with a great former half in Stuart.
I think we need a change from him just as much as he needs one from us.

This is pretty much how I feel about him now, I think we're poison to him and wasted what should have been his best years, and his career will only go up elsewhere.

a smart player (or manager) will happily take a pay cut to stay in a team playing finals, potentially get a rep jersey (due to their ability, and the way their team mates make them look) and have continual higher chances to maintain a solid contract with a club like the storm, than to take a one off huge contract (like mbye) at the tigers knowing the next contract, whenever that will be, will be considerably less.
its the reason we can't sign stars in their prime and get stuck with the retirees and the juniors looking for a shot. until the tigers can get the runs on the board they wont get out of the same ol' same ol' signings
in saying that, we need to chuck a stack of cash at any marquee that fits the team in the hope that the first domino falls, momentum on the field changes and then we can get into the chase for some marquee names, rather than just be used to set their market value

Marzhew - metre eating winger that struggles defensively

Penisini - gun. won't be going anywhere. he'll lock down a centre spot at Parra in the next 12 months

Ieremia - good player, will oust Jennings on the wing in the next couple years. being a melbourne junior its unlikely, but he is off contact. Lumelume also worth a look

Billy Smith - someone I hadn't thought of but would love to grab. really classy, think a silkier Momirovski. might be worth pursuing considering the rise of Suaalii

Ikuvalu - nah. system player, would suck here

Sami - the club were after him when he was off contract last time, re-signed with GCT. don't see him leaving there anytime soon.
