I'd take a Walters for Oates swap any day of the week. Makes a mountain of sense for us

Is this doable? Surely the Bronc's wouldn't consider it?

Not sure how likely it is but Oates has barely been in their top grade this year

I wonder if that is due to form or something else?

I don’t follow him, but I thought he had a bit of form, didn’t he play SOO?

Not sure, I thought he played alright when in top grade. Maybe was due to the whole wanting to play second row thing, he was an origin winger a few years back. He's certainly not the best winger but would do a job for us I reckon

Oates is a good winger, a way better option than DWZ imo.

Went out to Lidcombe yesterday, young Fitzgibbon has improved out of sight from the start of the season. If he keeps improving at this rate he might be ready next season. Pace to burn and seems to be a real character

How was Simpkin ?

There's a highlights package on NSWRL site I think it was the second rower Simpkin who scored a very good determined try.

Oates? Are we trying to assemble the famous Broncos wooden spooners of 2020 here? Darius comeback?

Oates would be our best winger pretty comfortably

Mate the Flegg side was the one to get excited about, their structure in both defence and attack was top notch and everything they do is at speed. Ogedon..excuse my spelling if I got it wrong, is a class above this age group. Anyway they were clinical in their execution.

If you get a chance, it’s a great day out at Lidcombe. Beer is pub price or better, sausage sizzle and just a fun day. Madge was standing near me in the crowd along with most of the Dragon top grade who were cheering on De belin. It was just like going to a bush game.

What’s it cost to go in and watch mate? I might have to get the kids down to watch the next game there ?

DWZ not the worst buy if he comes cheap and for a short 2 year contract+ this year!

Most people forget how good he was at the panthers, stood out! The only reason he didn’t come to the tigers last time was because we didn’t have the money due to cap and overs we where paying overs for a few players. Dogs paid him top dollar to sign.

I think Dallin would offer similar pros like Nofa. Will do the dirty runs, make meters and has a bit of xfactor around him when playing good footy. What he also offers is he doesn’t mind putting a hit on! Something that none of our backs do. He’s also quick. Plus offers fb depth if laurie goes down. also comes with experience.

He’s playing out of position in a team that gets dominated everyweek, he’d do better in our team.

I’ll trust madge and hartigan.

I agree with this. He’s a proven winger the problem at the Dogs is he played badly sulking when moved from fullback. If he accepts he’s. Winger he’s proven to play at a high level on the wing. Corey Oates has also been mentioned is another in the same predicament. Oates Walters swap makes more sense.

God I wish Joey manu would leave the chooks, I’d throw major money at that bloke there’s nothing he can’t do!!!

Yeah. Always rated him amongst the games best. Absolute freak no matter what position

Just looking ahead..... we have 22 players now signed for next season (includes Gildart and the COs on JTJ and Joey).
Of those coming off contract this year I would look at re-signing only Liddle, Mikaele and Seyfarth. Let go of Walters, MCK, Cini, Amone, Packer. Also to consider, there is possibly a move with Mbye and what we do with the CO on both JTJ and Joey.
We have some development players to bring up and will end up with maybe around 4- 5 spots to recruit talent.
This is the crucial piece for us in my view. How we improve and upgrade our squad - we must enlist “competitors “ and “winners” only, guys that are 100% effort and are top 17 so that we can boost competition for a starting side spot each week.
There are a few to choose from the names being bandied around, if we could somehow entice them to come to us.... eg Brando Smith, Finucane, TPJ, Isaako, Angus Crighton, (not Oates or Milford or DWZ please).

Yeah it’s good, Ive been there before I just don’t like oval grounds tho so far from the players.

Expect us to sign an outside back that we missed out on the last time he hit the market.

Auburnon80, that you?

And if DWZ, not bad for the right price.

Obvs everyone could, but we need to find an X-factor in the backs. Perhaps Laurie or AD can turn into that guy. Maybe Simpkins in the forwards if he keeps growing.

Yes and yes. Trying for this year

Thanks. He's versatile at least, covers a few positions and frankly, we don't have much depth in the backs. Hoffman isn't banging down the door, AJ will be out for a long time and Ogden is young. It would signal that BJ is not going to be resigned.

What's he like off the field? Would he be a good person to have around the younger boys?

He would be great if you want someone to show them how to drop a high ball, knock-on, or offload to an opposition player.

Might be good in "C" Grade....for someone else.

I’m wondering about the development players. I believe Hoffman and Tuilagi get a top 30 contract next year.

Does Kei get one too? That would be a waste given he’s struggling in Flegg.

DWZ as a winger on a subsidised or low end deal is a good play. He is a solid winger and won’t improve us much to be honest. Don’t hate it don’t really like it. Squad signing I suppose.

He's not coming to make up the numbers.
He'd be a starter.

And not quite the player we need.

He is a starting caliber winger for certain. He’s dismissed a lot as he’s not a fullback but as a winger can finish and bring the ball back. He’s better than Kepoa, Jet or any other winger we have outside of Nofa. It’s a question of contract. Isaako, Gagai would be better options. Depends on cost.

Gagai, DWZ, Isaako...

We have $$
Let's aim higher.

We need a winger right now, there's not many options.

We’re not making finals this year anyway. Would rather blood Fitzgibbon than take DWZ.

EDIT: I’d actually rather just keep JTJ on the wing.

Having not a winger on the wing will continue to hurt us as it has the entire season which has been the cause of a lot of complains

At this stage of his career JTJ is more a winger than a centre Its a shame that AJ suffered his injury his place in the centres this year could have answered a lot of questions for next year

Let's see Roberts actually tested before judging him. Dragons barely kicked at him for some reason, Penrith will go after him

I agree but we’ve seen DWZ tested and the results weren’t pleasing.

There's got to be better out there

For sure, and DWZ is on big money.

They need to sign someone and soon. We have 1 winger in our top 30 right now and most of the best wingers have been signed up. Don't see us signing a quality winger unfortunately they'll need to try find a young talent somewhere

Side note if dogs pay half then DWZ is around $350k which isn't bad really

$349,999.99 too much, happy to round up though.

Does Ogden have the potential ? Does fitzpatrick.? Can we keep them without a contract ? I'm not sure how it works, the same with others with potentials.

Solid without being a standout. His service was good and he did not over play his hand. Forwards were very strong and the backs fed off their good work. Big Tuki was solid, but not the standout. Thought Dias was awesome and Fitzy in the backs

Going on the stats he was among the best out there
