Ex-North Queensland NRL star Lachlan Coote has helped champions St Helens pile on the agony for Wigan with a 24-6 derby triumph, condemning their arch rivals to a fifth straight loss and their worst run in Super League for 15 years.

Wigan are in a massive slump….**Hastings has gone right off the boil also.** Being outplayed badly lately by blokes washed up in NRL years ago. Gildart still not explosive yet post injury.

Wigan are now convinced Hastings is not a half due to lack of speed and have moved him to FB whilst they have injuries and plan on playing him at hooker once their FB is fit.

He was badly outplayed by Drinkwater (ex wests state cup) the other week.

A genuine concern.

Why would anyone move a player out from halfback to fullback due to lack of speed? That's one of the main reasons the club moved AD out of fullback and into the halves.

A halfback doesn't have to run like JAC. They need to get the ball to the fast players quickly, that's ball skills.

They have injuries at FB...the plan is to move him to 9.

Hastings form this year has been very poor. I watch the SL most weeks and he has been really poor, there is no other way to put it.

I like him and still have hope, but he should not be outplayed weekly by guys like Drinkwater and Coote and other guys washed up years ago in the NRL.

His form is a legit concern.

Re Gildart...I think he will be a good signing, IF his pace comes back. He had explosive pace 18 months ago, but he had a very bad injury and seems to have lost his explosiveness. A little like Lawry did.

Gildart quoted below...he won't ever be the same as pre injury.

**"It's something I'll have to deal with throughout my career now," he told Rugby League Live.**

**"It doesn't just go away, it's a little reminder and having spoken to other lads who've had the same injury, they've said the key is to keep on top of it.

"It does get stiff and sore in contact sessions or after games. It does get tender, but I've just got to ice it and get treatment on it all the time."**

What was Gildarts injury?

He did a shoulder badly...(The centre **missed almost a year of action last season** as he recovered from a shoulder injury picked up while touring with Great Britain at the end of 2019)

....and then tore his groin. It was listed as a strain, but he took ages to come back.

He has missed almost 1.5 seasons from the last 2.5.

Sounds like Reynolds with his Calf strain issues

Looking at the reality of the situation we should sign no one but younger up and coming players and keep at it. Work with pathways and junior development. If we run through 3 CEOs and 3 coaches along the way so be it. People are finally looking at the long term and we have to get used to the reality of it.

It’s where we have done well over many seasons now. Aloai, Twal, Matterson, Luciano, Monirovski, Luciano, Addo Carr, Utoikamanu, Simpkins, Douihei.

Compare that to experienced players Mbye, Reynolds, Packer, Matulino, Blair.

We have a problem recruiting experienced talent well before Madge arrived. We have to keep at the under the radar recruitment and develop.

Agree and we have no choice however this is a results driven business.

It's been 10 years now of no finals and if we go another 3 or 4 years like this our brand is going to be hammered and makes it even harder to keep / gain sponsors etc.. Considering how bad we have been on the field we as a club have done an excellent job with off the field activities and making money so just imagine if we are successful on the field.. we have the receipt to be a very big and successful club.

We are working hard to clean the dead wood out and players that are just happy to be paid but even removing them we need to buy the true leaders we need to create good habits and for me that starts with a guy like Dale Funicane. We have a lot of money free for next year onwards so getting a guy like this would help our brand big time.

We do have some of the best young talent and they deserve to be trained correctly and not by guys like Packer / Mbye.

I agree but I don’t see the Finucanes of the world joining the Tigers unless it’s a bad deal for the club. That’s the issue.

Isn’t there another option where we get a coach who can attract players. I’m ok with Maguire staying on through the rebuild but if for whatever reason he can’t attract players (like Barret or Fitzgibbon can) then the coach himself becomes a barrier to the rebuild.

The dogs are paying “way” overs, to get their man, we aren’t, not saying that is the way to go, but that is what they are doing.

Sharks just recently lost Reynolds, but not sure what they are paying though?

We will get one or two, sooner rather than later, I hope, but the best player in the world won’t fix teams, where players don’t want to defend?

JAC for 650 and Burton for about 5-6 00 look like great deals IMO.

I would not consider them overs.

Me either, Barrett can attract them, meanwhile we keep telling our fans we pulled our offer, I know what they are pulling, and it isn't their offer

The Dogs are mortgaging their future to be a mid table team with zero development. You do realise they are a bigger basket case than us.
Baz is out of his depth and they are paying more than you think. Pangai is laughing if they make the offer he wants.

Yes they will improve but they will be up against the cap with little prospect of being a top 8 team.

Exactly right.

Someone gets how it works

Strange to say it will never be that same again.
I was thinking a hip injury

The solid non-leaking from Wests Tigers has given way to shadowy public forum/media driven innuendo that belittles the professionalism of our club head honchos, and reflects so badly on our club and the loyal fans - we have become the laughing stock.
For goodness sake, someone in authority has to speak for what is good about our club, and 100% change the narrative.
And that extends to all press conferences, media releases etc - respect is respect, first shown from within.

And then as soon as Lee says something he get bagged here unmercilessly..."Why doesnt he keep his mouth shut?!?"

Wow Kent said tigers would need 950 for dale finucane

Joke!
If we pay anywhere near that I’m done.

Kent was pointing out the system is a joke. The fact that Melbourne could get him 500-650 even less IMO but clubs like us have to pay overs 950 to get players of that standard show system is not working

Kent also said the top clubs have earned the right to pay the better players less as they are more of a chance at winning comps

The players I would like the Tigers to sign for 2022-23.

Harley Smith Shields, Murray Tulagi, Wiremu Greig, Tom Ale, Shane Wright, Isaac Lumelume, Ethan Bullemor, Tolutau Kouloua, Franklin Pele, Maratha Niukore.

No big names but players that will enter their prime and build the squad from Flegg through to first grade in 2 years.

With our focus this year on our indigenous program and the need for a lock forward and looking for players who can both defend and pass the ball what do people think of Tyrone Peachey. He is off contract and only 29 and with lots of experiece and a former origin player

Out of that list i think Bullemor is the man

Might as well. No senior players coming here so we should just bulk up our squad we as many competitive players with upside as we can.
But we need to move on a couple first how many spots are we going to have next year without releasing any.

5 spots to fill in '22...Assuming Joey Leilua and James Roberts options not taken up...

I have always liked Peachey as a player. Don't know what he has been like at the Titans, but always seemed to give 100%

Good point I’m sure sacking Madge would stop that hopefully it’s an untapped talent there

Give him 2 years with a further 2 years that include a payrise that are year by year club options. Play well you get a pay day, if not you get the boot.

Can also be cut if youngsters come through that the contract money is needed to upgrade.

The fall out from the Saints debacle will be interesting and the action they take Zac Lomax would be a good pick up if he became avaiable

Jaydn Sua tossing up between WT and Dragons. He could be here next week!

He looked good early in the year but has lost form or confidence, he can put on a hit too, a definite improvement on what we trot out each week

He'd go straight in to first grade with Saints with the 13 their going to be missing. If there is such a thing are we a better basket case than Saints????
