I’m gonna say it, surely I’m not the only one who would take Paul Vaughan on the minimum contract. Could use a fact check but I’m sure he’s in the top 5 for metres this season and he hasn’t even played every game. Runs way harder than half the cats we have in our forward pack

Vaughan is a good forward he will attract decent money. On minimum wage 15 clubs would sign him tomorrow.

Vaughan will end up at the Chooks for less than $200K .. with the story .. "he was prepared to take a massive pay cut just to play footy again"

Vaughan is a good player but we need more creativity in our pack. He's a metre eater but we need a forward who can do some ball playing and create more opportunities

With everything goiing on at the raiders I would love to see us go after Tapine and Hodgson. We need a backrower and clearly Tapine doesent want to be their but is an absolute talent

We also need a better hooker and an older one like Hodgson would be a great mentor for Simpkin.

If we had Tapine at lock and then Sironen on an edge with Hodgson at Hooker our pack looks much better then it does this year

Roosters asking about Tapine, so we are no chance

We ask Mrs Tapine then ......

She would chew us up and spit us out.

Just ask Wicky.

He made over 260 meters last game I think it’s something we need.

I'm not saying don't sign him, I'm just saying we need more creativity. We have one forward who can pass the ball around a bit, Souths found it so easy to read what we were doing because our forward pack is so one dimensional

To be fair that’s only 245m more than Tamou.

Yeah a passing 13 would be good too.

Who Vaughn player manager?

Should be sacked I wouldn’t of advised to beg and plead on tv he needs to go see burgess’s lawyer asap

A simple way to tidy up the whole TPA thing is to count ALL TPA's as part of the cap UNLESS the TPA is not aligned to a player's club (Meaning it follows the player wherever they go).

It would quickly separate legitimate TPA'S from cap rorting TPAs

Umm thats the currnet rule

Then why is TPJ supposedly banging on about the club he signs with, needs to meet his current TPA’s as well?

He’s not He wants the value of those paid in his salary..ie a guaranteed..

Someone on here said the TPA’s should follow, because that’s the rules? Is that not the case?

Also, can a TPA be stopped, say mid term for any reason, by the the entity who initiated the TPA?

TPA's are meant to be free from the club so can have any clauses the company and player agree to. I don't think it would be uncommon for a Brisbane based company to have a clause that would want the player in Brisbane. They company would lose the value of the TPA if the player is no longer in Brisbane, why would they want to sponsor a Sydney based player?

Yep, that’s what I thought, so if what we are hearing about TPJ is true, he wants his now missing TPA money included in a new contract, then that could be a sizeable increase? Oh well, it is what it is.

We don’t do TPA’s as far as I know, do you know why?

The TPA’s you are talking about no clubs do.. that is for a the player and or manager to source..

I saw an ad the other day with Munster. Addo-Carr and Welsh..can’t remember what for but they had no Storm gear on.. it’s independent of the Storm..

They had no storm gear or any gear on for that matter because they were in a bath tub.

Jeez even Isaac Liu is signing for the Titans. We’re gonna have all the money in the world with no one to spend it on. Maybe it can go towards a custom cutlery draw for all members

We've missed out on players recently and signed better ones (arguably)

Maumalo Isaako, DWZ

Gotta have faith.

From what I saw of Maumalo in his first game with us, I wasn’t impressed….Plodder…..at least DWZ runs with vigour…..

We conceded 66 points. Doesn't matter how hard it looks they're running he makes big metres all the time, he's known to be a metre eater

What did you think of watching a real winger in action last night when Olam after picking up the loose ball his first thought was to get it to JAC? This is the problem with Maguire. First thought is hitting it up rather than finishing from anywhere on the field.

Trust me mate I'd rather have JAC than Maumalo but we needed a winger and he was the best on the market. I doubt he's on big coin so if we could sign a gun winger he could take a back seat.

We missed JAC, the Bulldogs got him. Coates was on the move but we end up with Maumalo.

Jac chased the $ and Bulldogs obliged
A player like Coates who still needs to develop would always choose the Storm system to improve his game
We need to find a way to entice players to come
The COE will help but we need far more then that
We need a wealthy business man or women to help with third party payments
We should have someone in head office that can organise social events for the families of players so the women don't fell like they are being left alone
Think of it as a support group for the families
Maybe the club can organise outings for the children so the mums get some time to socialise with other mums in our club
We need to look outside the square and find out how to entice players and their families to join our club
Maybe support scholarships for children or Uni courses for wives if that is allowed
There is life after football so help these players and their families set themselves up for life after football
What can we do to help the families and not just the players

Some great ideas there. Talking about building culture, innovative ideas like these would help.

Yeah... Any such payments are included under the cap...

And there already are events where wifes and girlfriends socialise. Is there a demand for more? Who knows

I don't know much about TPA's, but they're not included in cap value are they?

If no, maybe the should be?

**Would defeat the purpose of a TPA** ......

I guess you have to ask , with all the rich external benefactors we have within the clubs fringes ......why we don't have more TPA's .......answer ...you don't fill a broken bucket with water ...do you ??

Yeah it would if it was counted, but the system should be fair, not based on where you are located?

I guess the other advantage for a corporate would be some sort of recognition/association with the player and club, and tax incentives?

Well it's only the player , he can't be attached to the NRL or club if promoting the corporation ....IE he couldn't wear the WT's polo or jersey promoting the product

Billy Slater still drives a Kizashi

No silly ...he rides Makybe Diva to work .....told you how many times now .....

He'd be top weight these days.

I don't think a workhorse front rower is what we need right now. would be a different story if we didn't have Tamou

We get told what the rules are. Everyone must abide by them. People cannot just pick and choose what suits them. Vaughan is an imbecile who just doesn't get it. Brain-dead. I bet he would be second guessing his decision now though.
On saying that I would take a player of his ability at our club in a heartbeat but selfish, dumb humans aren't really what our club needs more of to be successful.

Is that what you think this is about?
Do you think it might be about a player deliberately breaking a law, putting his club and the competition in jeopardy?
Could it be about reckless, selfish, repeated infractions by the same player?
This is not the political thread or the anti vaxer thread or the doomsday prepper thread.

The most important decision this club needs to make right now is not which players to sign, but who is the best defensive coaches in the League right now, and do everything possible to sign one of them. Whatever it takes, and whatever it costs.

This is an imperative. To me, it appears that the players we have are confused and unsure of what they are actually supposed to be doing in defence. The defensive structure has been chopped and changed so often, that we end up with results like we have seen over the past couple of weeks. I don't know for sure who is the current defensive coach. I've heard Maguire is the man at the moment. But whoever it is, they are not succeeding.

It matters little what players we sign right now. Without an overhaul of the way we defend, it will be the same old, same old.
Once we know we have the best defensive structure, then surely it becomes much easier to see which players have the ability we need and which ones need to be moved on asap.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Get Dean Pay in next week. Not in any way succession planning for Madge, he is a great assistant, but average coach. He had a pathetic dogs team competitive defensively.
