I must be in some minorty - why does anyone care what the TV shows or newspapers say, or what other fans think? If some moron Parramatta supporters laughs at you for being a Tigers fan, so what, they are a Parramatta supporter; it's self-evident who the moron is.

Winning, competing and honour/camaraderie are the only 3 things that count in rugby league.

Everything else is distracting nonsense to fill in the gaps. There are 10,000 minutes a week (an oddly perfect number) outside of the 80 minutes of football, and the media services are clamouring to fill those 10K minutes to drive ad revenues and keep themselves relevant. The bigger the NRL gets and the bigger the TV deals, the more leeches who want to latch on and siphon a living.

I don't care what Pascoe did or did not say to Canberra, off the record. I don't care that Pooper brought it up, I don't care if he got nude and rubbed himself with the copy of the newspaper, I don't care if he laughed about it or doubled down on it or made it all up. The guy is an A-Grade Tit and he can't stop being what he is; it's not our concern to worry about how and why James Pooper is an A-Grade Tit.

And it’s false, a club statement coming out denying them accusations would be an appropriate thing to do imo

I've been involved in conversations with Justin about these sorts of articles, honestly he just doesn't care what the media is saying and is completely dismissive when it is raised.

It doesn't matter if he cares. Players care, fans care.

The media will jump on any opportunity to make us look unprofessional and stupid. The club can't give them any ammunition. And just saying it's ok because we know the truth doesn't cut it. They have to look after the image and branding of the club and having hundreds of these articles ridiculing us reinforces the view that we're a laughing stock and amateur club.

What are you talking about? The media will just make up stupidity, Tigers don't have to do anything.

All Tigers have to do is win football games and the media rubbish takes care of itself. If we sit there getting all bothered about what the media wants to write, that is exactly what the media wants, they are trying to goad the club into generating content for them.

But you also can't operate in fear of the media.

It's probably something he should care about as any negative press like this especially when it's constant can only paint the club poorly in the eyes of potential recruits.

I'm going to wager that players don't really care about the nonsense. They care about (a) salary, (b) personal opportunity, (c) chance of success.

Couldn't agree more. Got caught once myself many years ago making a comment to a DT journo 'off the record'. The next day there was a small article on the bottom of page one of the DT that included my 'off the record' comment. Didn't do me any damage but I never did it again.

The only way I see this remotely being true, is if the Raiders rang asking for Brooks and the dismissive reply was yeah if you take Mbye as well and give us Wighton and Hodgson as way telling them that Brooks isn't available. The Raiders then tell Hooper as a way of getting back at the Tigers and then Hooper blows it all out of proportion.

Pretty close. The Raiders approached Brooks ( via third party ) not the club. Of course Brooks told the club. WT are no way letting Brooks go, but since the Raiders were asking, WT offered a way out counter deal knowing it would never succeed. Something like Whighton etc for some Flegg players. More or less a "hands off Brooksy" thing. Anyway, Chinese whispers....Hooper....you know the rest.

Brooks' integrity in advising WTs management of the approach is first class. He could have said nothing, not put in for the remaining games, claiming mental health issues until granted a release.

Who'd want to live in Canberra? I did for a year and I nearly topped myself.

18 months in Canberra, single and had a great time. The cold got to me and being the caring employer that it is, Defence sent me to a much warmer climate for a long time.

Lived here for 55 years, moved to Sydney for 9 months, happiest day of my life outside of marriage and children, was returning back to Canberra.

My take is ignore the crazies. Someone told me "never argue with an idiot they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience".

Each to his own but I think engaging with crazies makes it worse.
