Anyone hear Kevin Naiqama coming back to the Tigers?

Where did you hear this ? Lol
He's coming back to Oz.

https://www.saintsrlfc.com/2021/08/05/statement-kevin-naiqama/?fbclid=IwAR27QnC4hXK2FpIa4EOkI9o-xBJ19lA7rLH_wIL_e4lwW0QfAJm5qYiIh2c

It says nothing about him joining the Tigers…

He is in talks with the Titans & Burleigh with a second tier contract

Last paragraph ?

Their is no more accurate source than Fox Sports, after all.

I always love the "staff writers" byline

I reckon Tedesco left us because he wanted to win a comp and didn't believe he'd ever do it with WT and I think Smith would knock us back for the same reason. Roosters would be specials to sign him if he ever leaves the Storm.

Agree...Many people forget Isaac Moses and how he had the club by the gonads for many years...In fact many blame the CEO and others for the clubs failures over the last 10 years, I don't disagree, but throw that scum Isaac Moses in the mix, he was the one who rallied all his media buddies with the media talk if you want to win a comp the WT is not the place to be - and unfortunately it has stuck to us like mud

We still need to form better relationships with agents.

At the Dragons, Hunt has opted into the final year of his deal for 2023 while centre Zac Lomax's has done likewise with his long-term deal, enacting the final-year option in his in favour for 2026.

Why would Lomax opt into his 2026 deal now as that seem strange..

That's the strangest thing I've ever heard.
Did anyone mention to him he has another 4 years at least to decide?
Would still look better in a Wests Tigers jersey.

I was just thinking or maybe hoping about this Lomax extension..
Maybe just maybe if he is working on leaving he needs to take up this option so a transfer is cleaner and will include the 2026 year.. Someone was saying lawyers are involved so this might be a good sign.

No. You wouldn’t extend prior to agreeing to a release and signing with another club as it’s a new contract. The extension means he’s staying.

No, it's not a new contract. It's an option within the existing contract. Restructuring a contract to front load it is a new contract.

This is a weird move and moreseo hints at him leaving and increasing his leverage. He already signed a very long deal on reasonable money. He doesn't back himself to be worth more at any stage in his career? Why restrict his potential earnings. If he's a superstar he'd decline his option and negotiate a newer and better deal. No need to make that call now z he literally has years to make it if he's staying...

Does anyone know how decisions are made on recruitment at the club? I know there is a committee but is it Hartigan who makes recommendations to the committee? Who’s on the committee? Why are we hearing Sheens is emailing managers?

Sheens will make final call on all recruitment.

That would be a poor decision imo,his track record in purchasing players was sketchy at best

Just to think about he’s track record.
03
In his first year he blooded local juniors Farah,Gibbs,Hiegninton and Halatau.....and he also brang in our mate Benji Marshall that year.
I’d say he had a good eye for talent.
04
Scott prince Pat Richards and Brett Hodgson
Enough said!
05
Wins a comp
06
Taniela Tuiaki,Kieth Galloway and Blooded Chris Lawrence
07
08
Quiet roster changing years as he had a stable competitive team
09
He brings in Ellis and Liu and Dwyer

10
Andrew Fifita gets a shot and he brings Big Lote.

Just name a few.
He had some duds in their too mind you.
But what he did was create a core of long term capable players to compete at a level we haven’t seen since.
I think your a little off with your perception of his track record.

Fitzy at 6 multiple times, Morris at 7 for far to long, Danny Galea at prop, hardly using Head when he clearly was needed, he had a list as long as the M1 of poor to ridiculous selection decisions

Well we have done nothing to prove him wrong, you can't win a comp when you don't even make the 8

never understood fonz's thinking around Mat Head, he was exactly what we needed at that point in time. probably would've been in the 8 in '08 if we utilised him properly.

I remember times when Head absolutely killed it, journo’s would point out how well he had played, and Sheens seemed to get annoyed at the credit he was being given. Was there something going on behind the scenes with Head, cos he was MOM almost every game he played for us.

I reckon people saying Lomax might be into something. He played like a West’s Tiger yesterday. Dragons also after Suli.

Might be chucking a M Moses to get the ball rolling.... We need something to go our way for a change

Something really seems to be brewing re Lomax.

When I look at that list of recruits what I like is the amount of smarts in that group. Not just good footy players but mostly good footy IQ as well.
And we sorely lack this at present! So if Sheens brings that back to our recruiting it can only be a good thing.
Just don't let him near team selection... the term 'Sheenius' was coined for good reasons!

Interesting to note that not only is Brandon Smith off contract at the end of 2022 but Harry Grant actually has a Mutuak option for 2023 so if effectively off contract at the end of 2022 at this stage as well. I say go all in for Harry

last year showed having Grant in our team isn't priority and I would extend that to Smith as well.

We had Grant and still missed the finals terribly, we have far more important areas to fill before throwing marquee money at Hooker.

From the outside backs available (+Lomax) I’d potentially look at (in no particular order…)

Lomax
HSS
Edrick Lee
Tesi Niu
Sunia Turuva

Think most would have more upside and than our current crop of outside backs, especially if we do not re-sign JTJ/BJ/Cini and if we let Mbye go early.

I think we need a real good back first up, before anyone else.
