Egan Butcher has re-signed with the Roosters. 2 year deal. NEXT!
If true there is another one to add a massive list of players who have said no thanks. The last few are happy to stay where they are and remain in the que for a first grade job.
Back to the drawing boards for the 100th time
I can't recall a team ever going after so many players and landing none of them. It must be some kind of record.
Have we gone after all of them, or has this forum said we have?
Pom said we’d gone after Butcher and advised us yesterday HSS was staying in Canberra. All the others were also confirmed on here by people in the know too. Players just don’t want to play here.
exactly
we can't hide behind this oh have we actually gone after these players
we have
Some forum members with good mail have said we have
Butcher
Harley Smith shields
and we know about
Latrell
JAC
Finucane
TPJ
we can not buy an egg at present
The big names rejected us..
And now the rookies like Egan and Harley.
Like my man @Milky says,
"Trust the process"
I hope there is a plan.
My correspondence with the CEO last week leads me to believe, the plan is.... we wait.
We wait for cap pressures at other clubs to force decent players to become available or unrest to arise and then we strike, like the Maumalo signing..
Clearly this isn't the BEST plan for some of us fans.
Definitely the slow / long game.
But, alas... trust the process.
Hopefully we land with Lomax type and not... Duran.
Lol before Maumalo the last 2 players we got out of that strategy was Reynolds and Mbye. Stoked for the future….
Lol, rough.
I think they've learnt from those mistakes and don't plan to make them again.
Email the CEO your concerns.
He pretty much confirmed they aren't making anyone offers at the moment and waiting for some players to present themselves from cap pressure or unrest.
Don't get excited for any big movement.
See how the Lomax legal stuff plays out.
But as we re aware Roosters need props and centres too.
If that’s the strategy, the club is doomed. No club that’s successful sits back and waits for the scraps of other clubs. They are proactive and attacking.
I agree, nothing is going to fall into your lap.
This is business. Every decent player is going to have 15 options maybe 16 + union offers if they're a junior coming through.
Have to be cut throat aggressive and go out and compete for the signatures.
From my email with Justin, he said as much as there isn't anything available at the moment and they will monitor situations for things to arise.
Too relaxed, IMO.
Can work out well but isn't a guarantee.
Junior focus is still a priority.
The other thing is, you aren’t going to pick up any Origin type players with that strategy, just players other clubs are willing to let go. It’s a loser mentality.
