In 2021 Wests Tigers are the youngest in the NRL, in 2019 we were the oldest.

Wow! really I think that says it all. Our brightest prospects are definitely our youngest, and it is why I am optimistic even if we don't land many big signings. They may not have been marquee signings, but I honestly believe Daine Laurie, Stefano Uto etc will be marquee players.

Hopefully, in a few years, the top marquee guys will be banging on our door to let them play here?

Why is Madge leaving, that would be our only hope, he reckons he had players ringing all the time wanting to play for him, give me a break, I am not that stupid

Maybe they weren't the right signings in the clubs opinion?

Or maybe noone called?

I know which one I believe, a stack of players ring him, and no one is better than our current mob, fair dinkum, I know why this guy is a Madge supporter now.

Geez now we're whining over missing a reserve grader and a bench player. Might have been good for depth, but they're no better than what we already have.

Actually they'd both eb guaranteed starters for us, both are much better than what we already have.

Don't delude yourself. We currently have a bottom 4 roster that has overachieved.

The club needs 1 or 2 Origin calibre players if they want to go to the next level.

I don't think anyone would disagree with you: the team lacks strike, whether that be pace out wide, a game breaking half, a monster edge foward or whatever. But that doesn't take away from the fact that the foundations are being built. Stick a couple of marquees in our team for most of the past decade and we'd be at best where the Knights or Titans are now. What I hope is being built at the moment is a setup where those star signings are the last thing needed to turn the roster into a legit contender - and we're doing it without burning all the cap room we'll need to make those signings when they're available.

I know it's frustrating that we've missed on a bunch of signings, but it doesn't mean we ought to throw up everything else that is going in the right direction and give up. This is a legit, proper, root and branch rebuild that's been going on quietly in the background for a couple of years now. I'd rather it had led to more success at first grade level already but equally I don't want to see it ruined by chucking a bunch of money at bad contracts for ageing "stars" looking for a last payday done with the primary goal of hauling ourselves into 7th position for a year or two.

People talking about signing Thompson. Do you actually think signing him for 4 years for 2.7 million is a good deal? You can't simply say getting him for 2 years at 500k is good value if in teh final years you're paying him 850k.

This is exactly like the Mbye situation. He was great value while the dogs were chipping in, then in the latter years his full salary was on us and we couldn't wait to offload him. Thompson is not the best prop in the league. I don't think he's in the top 5 and possibly not even in the top 10 props. He's worth about 500k at the most.

If we offered him a 3 year deal for 1.5 mil, with dogs chipping in 700k for 2 years, with a mutual option for the 4th season i could accept that. If we ended up paying more than 500k a year for him at any stage it's a loss.

When the Dogs signed him they thought he was one of if not the best forward in the game. Hence the big bucks. But he's not. I can't see anyone offering him that kind of money again.

As for signings, I didn't think we could sign contracted players and besides that, our roster is full atm and we can't sign any more? It would help if you could mention who the players were?

851 myself and others understand your frustration atm and your hate for Madge,however I can only think that your untold hate for him has blinded what he is trying to achieve with some very,very talented young players..they have to learn some where and sometime and this year and next is that time...Im sorry we havent won every game contested or paid huge overs that Ivan did to achieve absolutely nothing and dump us..Maybe the club has learnt and with Madge looking after the juniors untill Sheens gets here we will finally end this decade of rabble and finally become the great club we should be...at least give credit where its due...its always easy to blame the coach everytime things go wrong..
I was even reading today how Fittler said he loves the Campbelltown area and the Tigers would be a GREAT TEAM to coach...at least he is an origin coach and has some respect for our club,moreso than some of the so called supporters...

Also, I don’t believe Madge was telling the truth when he says he has calls all the time. If I had a dollar for every time an NRL coach lied I’d have enough money to buy WT.
