Think once Maumalo was signed all interest in Isaako dropped off.

There is a win by Tigers recruitment right there but I dont expect anyone to acknowledge it.

Whilst everyone is wetting thair pants that we "cant attract anyone" and "missed out on" marquee player X, the clubs recruitment team has added Maumalo, Laurie, Stef, Tuki, Joe O, Tuilagi, in the last 12 months to add to Douiehi, LL & Blore in the 12 months prior.

These players are the best in our squad and if we had a squad of this capability we make the 8. I am genuinely amazed that everyone here is blind to seeing that the improvement of the squad over the last 18-24 months is due to the recruitment system we have.

The squad has not improved from 18 months ago.

I don’t believe that’s true, the squad has improved, Maumalo, Laurie, Steff, are just a few that counter your claim, granted our results are still not where we want them though.

Hard to say the squad is better if the results aren't.

Well we are one game improved on last year after R20.

I stand corrected. Our squad is clearly better then.

You really don't need the results to see the improvement, you're the one saying it hasn't done so.

Thompson would be a perfect buy.

Respectfully disagree.

At 800k plus thats marquee money for average forward.

If he's worth that then Stefano and the rest deserve the same at least to stay.

100% no thanks. Let yhe Dogs suffer

He's better than our whole pack bar Stefano who he's at least equal with, he's an awesome player. Dogs will chip in for some of his contract too

Thompson would be a great buy - a real workhorse, big motor. Him and Stefano upfront would be one of the best front row combinations in the comp. Real concern is foul play and missing games as a result. Would also be great if we could move Tamou on - I really don't want to see him in first grade in 2022.

Some people just watch the game and judge individuals purely on wins and losses. Others just look at the stat line. When you’re in a really bad side that’s not the way to go. This bloke at his age ticks a lot of boxes for us. Toughness being #1.

We have a requirement for genuine pace on the wings. What is Maguire doing to address this shortcoming? Prop appears to be well covered.

We could have usain bolt out there and we’ll still miss finals if we don’t stiffen up our pack and our D

Thompson is a good player. There is a limited cap. As the Storm demonstrated last night with JAC and Papenhuyzen, outright pace wins games. We need a lot of it before we need another prop. Prop is the one position we have well covered.

We are heavily over reliant on a 21 year old against international forward packs, one of them lays the platform for the speedsters you’re referring to.

I reckon you've got this right. We have two decent wingers but they are slow and they will and do get caught out with pace.

I think one quality prop would help us though. I think some pace out wide would help us more.

Lay a better platform (win the forwards battle) and defend better around our C defender and our wingers won’t be an issue. A good centre would help IMO.

I think a team like that could be a decent team but you need that strike power to win the comp. Ken and Nofo are good wingers. It's just their flaw is a lack of pace.

If we had say Renouf and Staggs as our centre pairing then it'd be less of an issue.

I think we need pace out wide more than we need another middle.

Still if we could get a player of Thompson's caliber and we dropped Tamou we'd have middle forwards to rival Melbourne.

Our significant issue is defense. We score points quite easily when we’re in the grind but that’s not often against top sides. Maumalo has been good of late and I don’t know what’s wrong with Noff but if we can fix him he’s fine. Tamou only has one year left on moderate coin so he just goes into the prop rotation and plays limited minutes.

A classy centre that can tackle would be good, speed a bonus.

This is where we need to be careful. If we get him for that money it's a good signing. If we have to pay 800k than we should say no thanks.

We can't keep bailing the Dogs out of their salary cap problems.
