Throw insane money at the best coach. Bellamy should have been offered a ridiculous amount of money to leave Storm.

Bennett should be offered what he wants, we know he loves the $$.

Ask Trent Robinson what it would take to come here.

These guys would get rid of crap players in a minute. They attract good players. They have years of good defensive systems behind them.

If a Bellamy, a Bennett or a Robinson can’t get us firing then shut us down.

Bennett would leave us like he left St George (yes with a premiership but poop ever since) and Newcastle. I want sustained success!

If there was a better coach to replace Madge then go for it…Robinson and Bellamy are probably the only 2 I would punt him for. If there’s someone else available out there with their credentials then please educate me.

Disagree with shutting us down…?

Maguire was outcoached by Josh Hannay yesterday, a fill in coach!

Maguire's TEAM was outplayed by Hannay's TEAM.
I doubt Madge coaches his players to defend 3 in until they leak a try and then continue to do it. I doubt Madge coaches the boys to stand there and watch as Mulitaloe and others run around under the posts untouched.
I doubt Hannay coaches his team to have speed we don't.
If Madge was coaching our blokes to play dumb, you'd think as first grade players one time they'd say " lets just play whats in front of us", win the game and so convince Madge to change his coaching method.
The coach doesn't instruct them to look like they don't care.
If he does, they are following his instructions to perfection !

But does he know, or he is just doing what Fox people do, talk through there behind while sitting down?

So why did Lomax, Brimson, JAC, TPJ, Arrow, Mitchell and Sami turn us down?

Do you see a pattern here?

JAC, TPJ, Arrow, Mitchell all changed clubs!

Some people are in complete denial about the state of things at the club. We let in 50 points yesterday against a Sharks team with $3m sitting on the sidelines and a halves pairing that had never played before. Madge was out coached by a caretaker coach.

On top of that we can’t sign anyone who is a legitimate starter at another NRL club (we plucked Ken out of Warriors reserve grade).

To suggest we just let this play out is insanity. If we don’t make changes next year will be even worse

I don’t think anyone is in denial, except you anti Madge brigade, if you can’t see that the players we have are not putting in then no one can help you.

First time I've joined the chorus but Nofa has to go next year regardless of cost. No serious team would put up his style of play. The Sharks two are the type of winger needed for the 2021 game.

Only one person is saying otherwise.

@hobbo1

get nofo out no matter what freight it costs us

Nofo / Cotric trade

Trade him for anyone.
Cancer to the team.

Ronaldo Mulitalo had a field day down his side all game. At once stage I actually had to go back and have a look at the team sheet to see if we actually fielded a winger on that side of the field.

Penrith will do worse to us next week...
Apex predators and we're the prey.

You're really motivating me to watch the game 🙂 🙂 🙂

Yep I don’t know how people can talk about offloading Brooks and not including Nofo in that trade. He is terrible!!! They both need to go the UK.

I'm still not convinced re Brookes but Nofo needs to go, go ASAP.

Please explain this to me? Unless you think part of Maguire's game plan is to constantly turn the ball over on tackle one or come up with the worst possible option if you do manage to hold onto the ball for six tackles, please detail how Hannay outcoached Maguire.

Suffice to say that Cronulla had the much better mentaility for this match, something that supposedly falls into Madge's work criteria.

What's sad is LL is perceived as our greatest attacking threat but he's also our greatest defensive liability. For one try yesterday they had 5 on 3 from the play the ball and LL (and Talau) jammed in leaving Nofo with 3 on 1 (and Nofo will be blamed).

We lost it through bad reads, lazy play and poor one-on-one defence in the middle. The young kids deserve a go but they're not fit enough, strong enough, fast enough or smart enough to carry the portion of the game they're in. The Sharks' speed through the ruck made us look like kids playing men (which we were during the forward rotation).

Walters, Simpkin, Simpkins and Tuilagi were out of their depth but we didn't have a lot of options and will require patience to turn them into first graders.

I'm concerned with Simpkin at hooker, his service needs a lot of work and when he runs it appears to be without a notion of what he's going to do. Brailey gave him a master class yesterday.

I thought Amone had a real go.

What's hilarious about this is that all the Madge bashers constantly bleat about him not giving the young guys a go and when he does, and you get a result like this, it's all his fault for giving all the young blokes a go. We were never going to the finals this season and anyone who is disappointed about that needs a reality check. We'll be in contention next year and hopefully for a few years after that. If not, then I'll join the Madge bashers...

With where we are at, at some point we are going to have to repeat what Souths did in signing Asotasi.

Identify the right player & pay massive overs to get him here. Sounds simple but I can see 3 problems:
- identifying the right player. There are half a dozen examples in the last few years that show we cannot do this
- our philosophy is not to pay overs
- we can't get anyone to come to the club.

That’s the very reason I thought that pinning our hopes on Thompson on anything more that a reasonable deal is a mistake. I think that our Dogs subsidised 3 year offer that averages around $450k per year, should be our line in the sand. At that price we MAY be a value purchase.
We need defence minded forwards with experience to lead and mentor our younger forwards.
THAT means looking to players like Graham, Jackson, Pearce, Sironen and yes even our former disgrace capitan.

Very intelligent post. Summed up very well.
We had 1st year apprentices on the bench against seasoned tradesmen. Everything fell apart that’s expected when relying on apprentices to do the job unfortunately.

I am wondering if this team is sick of getting beaten that one day their attitude will change and they will compete on every play and not give the ball over cheaply and chase those that score instead of them running the ball closer to posts . Come on boys just compete

If it happens during the game, have a look at the bench to replace players with.....not enough NRL experience and knowledge to get the results needed...we have inexperience as our depth unlike Storm, they can swap like for like ...we dont have that luxury and check out who are sidelined atm...
the other point I will make is that these guys have been playing rugby league since a very young age,to get to NRL level you would think they can at least get the BASICS RIGHT,not doing so results in scores like yesterday...

This is what it’s all about for me. Forget about where we are on the ladder, wins, losses, etc. just get into the game & compete for everything in every play for the full 80 mins. Do that & the rest will fall into place.

We were never going to the finals this season and anyone who is disappointed about that needs a reality check. We'll be in contention next year and hopefully for a few years after that. If not, then I'll join the Madge bashers...

Well did he really need to select Walters????
Would of rather been Jock Madden get a run if Available and assume he should be?

Jock did a wonderful job sanitizing the balls yesterday .....anyone else notice that

His?

Agreed.

Positioning three defensively challenged players on the right was a gift. Leaving LL on the field for an extended period was another. It was a hot day, fatigue played its part and no player goes out to deliberately drop a ball or miss a tackle. It does raise the issue of how well Maguire knows his individual players?

Well played Sharks and coached Hannay.
