Actually I’d argue that Madge doesn’t want Doeuihi at 5/8 next year. He is a gem of a talent but a half he isn’t. If he was helping Brooks with a relaible kicking game that’s a different story but his individual defence and his organisation of the backline in attack and defence is horrible. Something Hastings will do extremely well next year.
I’ve flipped and flopped over the potential combinations but I just can’t see a Hastings & Doueihi combination being a better option than a Hastings & Brooks combination.

I reckon that end of year review with Sheens heavily involved, will very much determine the future path for our players with longer term contracts, such as Brooks, Nofa, Garner etc.

I reckon that end of year review with Sheens heavily involved, will very much determine the future path for our players with longer term contracts, such as Brooks, Nofa, Garner etc.

Intelligent post Russell. I have had my say on Fox commentators all year. Their agenda is blatant - denigration of the Club at very possible opportunity, criticism without solutions or constructive advice it is all blame game. Fox and NRL both want geographical expansion of the game without additional teams soaking up limited finances. Destabilisation and white anting of existing clubs is the first tactic.

Tend to agree with you about Doeuihi. He needs to sort out his defensive issues. Once he improves on that in he becomes great utility and with bit more lean muscle build up he could become a very good ball playing lock.
As for Brooks I would try him at hooker with Hastings at half. It’s worth a try during early season trials.
Many say we lack speed in the back line and point to centre wing positions but for me our weakness is 5/8. That’s where we need something special.

Nah he’s still doing it. Had one error free game against the Cowboys then went back to at least an error a game. The sad thing is Kepaoa is even worse.
