Directly from the mouth of one of Norths Devils senior staff, where Payne plied his junior trade.

'He is easily the most arrogant junior I've seen come through the ranks in 25 years. He is the last to training, the first to leave and will often just opt out of training drills if he doesn't like it. His attitude is deplorable'.

and he still kills it... Imagine if someone got into his head and he does extras as he would be unstoppable..

Going off Gildarts form of late, he won't be playing first grade next season. The lads getting worse as the weeks tick by. Another poor performance tonight.

What's going on the them can't score points

The pack is the main issue, they just don't have any punch at all and are constantly getting bullied and dominated. No platform or field position for the the backs/playmakers to create anything.

Last week against St Helens they only had 5 play the balls inside Saints 20, 1 play the ball inside Saints 10 and the closest that they actually got to the Saints tryline in metres was 8.

After tonight they haven't scored a try for 204 minutes now.

I'm loving every minute of it haha

Hastings a concern too

Not so much. Hastings has been going well in an awful team. He's constantly the stand out for Wigan, he just has very little else around him.

Coach must be coping it like maguire

From all reports he's an excellent trainer at broncos though, maybe he's grown up a bit. He's instantly talented and still developing new aspects to his game every few weeks

Payne Hass is who we should be chasing apparently not signing the long term deal he was meant too!!

Sure he's dying to come to wests tigers

Aren't he and Stef close? Thought they grew up together.

I don't think so.

Payne did his schooling in QLD.

Ok gotcha.
I remember reading something about them playing rep football together throughout their juniors. Must have been someone else.

Mikale and Payne where mates from school through

Ok. I must have confused the two. Cheers

No dramas brother, pretty sure it was haas mikale and David Fifita from memory all in the same keebra park team. There where a few others in the NRL currently but can’t remember who they are lol

66.66% chance of getting a superstar and we sign Mikaele ??

I'm all for chasing Haas, but not so keen on Thompson, especially at $850k.

He might be what we need, but this season he has spent a third of it on the sidelines due to suspension. That equates to $55k per game...

Thompson is the exact opposite of what we need,he is grossly overpaid and a suspension issue with his continual carryover points.Dogs are welcome to him

I don’t know either. I’m hoping it is the player manager trying to give the impression of increased interest. If it’s coming from our club our recruitment team need to be slapped across their forehead.

Why would you offer more money if the Dogs aren’t coming to the party by offering up part of the contract in the /23 year?

I mentioned this the other day. On current form he wouldn’t make our side.

You know he's terrible if he can't make our team
Especially in the centres

Well, he’s coming from a competition that is light years behind NRL. He was never gonna start the year in first grade unless there were injuries. He’s basically a glorified development player.

Ok. I was unsure, I've never seen him play and some ppl were pumping his tyres up.
Hope he does the jersey proud.

And he's been constantly shifted around due to injuries too.

PJ, DON'T listen to these clowns. I just watched the Wigan game and Hastings was by far the best player on the field. His defence is good, has great creativity and kicking game and will be terrific for us next year.

As for Gildart, I watched him closely because of the negativity from some people on this forum. You might not know, that he is a former International/England center. He has had a few injuries which have set him back a bit. However, today he played most of the game ( I did not see him over the last 15 minutes ) he did not miss a tackle, he dropped one ball which was a high pass and hit him in the head! He tends to come out of the line, but he is very fast and has a great passing game. I believe that he and Hastings will be great players for WestsT's next year.

Too many negative Nellies on this forum.

Hear hear!

In 2017 he got the young player of the year award. And then the following two years he was selected in the national side.

People will continue to say "bah humbug, Super League is below the NRL", but the England national side is a very strong team, they have consistently shown they are about on par with the New Zealand team. If you're getting picked for that you are a good footy player, end of story. It hasn't been his best year coming back from injury, but he is definitely a talented player.

Edit: talking about Gildart, not Hastings.

I have nothing against Gildart at all, I hope he works out, honestly I do, but from what i've seen of him in the games he's played this season he is well and truly below NRL standard. And the ESL is so far below NRL it's not funny, it's KOE cup standard.

I watched Gildart the other week and his attack was good. His defense was poor though and I saw him miss some easy tackles I think a week or two ago.

I'm not confident with Gildart yet though. I think Hastings looks good but he looked like a 6 more than a 7. Brooks to me looks like a running 7 in that he is closer to the middle of the field whereas Hasting looks to me to be playing a bit wider.

Another thing to keep in mind for anyone tuning into Super League matches at the moment, they are having some pretty insane scheduling due to a lot of games having been earlier postponed due to covid - hence why Wigan just played on a Wednesday. Plenty of the players are probably exhausted from short turnarounds. Wigan has in the same amount of time, played 5 extra matches than the St Helens team who beat them on the weekend.

Ive got very low expectations for gild

Gildart's stats are concerning. 10 games.

Very good in attack. 3 tries, 3 try assist, 4 clean breaks 22 Tackle busts

Defence is concerning: 77 tackles, 16 missed tackles.

We should sign Cameron Smith.

22yo, 183cm, 104kg loose forward. 11 appearances 902 metres, 27 tackle busts, 349 tackles for 15 missed.

Can you imagine the headlines, Cameron Smith signs with tigers
