Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

PJ, DON'T listen to these clowns. I just watched the Wigan game and Hastings was by far the best player on the field. His defence is good, has great creativity and kicking game and will be terrific for us next year.

As for Gildart, I watched him closely because of the negativity from some people on this forum. You might not know, that he is a former International/England center. He has had a few injuries which have set him back a bit. However, today he played most of the game ( I did not see him over the last 15 minutes ) he did not miss a tackle, he dropped one ball which was a high pass and hit him in the head! He tends to come out of the line, but he is very fast and has a great passing game. I believe that he and Hastings will be great players for WestsT's next year.

Good to hear mate

Another thing to keep in mind for anyone tuning into Super League matches at the moment, they are having some pretty insane scheduling due to a lot of games having been earlier postponed due to covid - hence why Wigan just played on a Wednesday. Plenty of the players are probably exhausted from short turnarounds. Wigan has in the same amount of time, played 5 extra matches than the St Helens team who beat them on the weekend.

That has to have a huge impact on results. They play too many games in SL -IMO

We desperately need positive news. I too am hopeful with Gildart. I liked what I saw a couple of years ago. I hope his body is OK.

It should be noted that didn't score a point and only 2 points last week. Hastings loves a Luke Brooks bom

Grood post:clap: However, expect a lot "nah" sayers, as your post is a ray of hope, and this is so rare in this trend of the WT haters!

I don’t know who this kid is and at only 15 he may never play NRL however it really peeves me that ahole Tedesco is now used as a recruitment tool in our junior area. The sooner Kimmorley and Sheens get in to the area the better as our current junior pathways seems to be a joke.
NRL 2021: Roosters land another junior star in Camden Rams product Lachlan Dooner
A personal sales pitch by skipper James Tedesco has helped the Roosters snare another budding star from his old stomping ground at Camden. The James Tedesco seal of approval has helped the Roosters secure yet another junior star.
Lachlan Dooner is still just 15 but it’s a name to keep an eye on after the Camden junior agreed to join the Tricolours set-up last week.
Dooner, a talented centre, comes from a similar background to Tedesco — both are Macarthur juniors and Dooner attends renowned rugby league nursery St Gregory’s College, Tedesco’s alma mater.
It was these links, and a personal sales pitch from the Test and Origin superstar himself, that helped the Roosters land Dooner ahead of several other clubs.
With Trent Robinson, another Rams and St Greg’s alumni, also boasting strong links to the area the Camden to Coogee pipeline is in rude health.
Rangy, athletic and blessed with excellent ball skills, Dooner can play fullback, centre and in the halves and has the size to potentially switch to the forwards once he physically matures.
The junior set

That’s a real kick in the teeth. I reckon he would have said how bad of a club we are. We not only stuck by him through 2 bad knee injuries and he played for NSW from Wests Tigers. Until first grade can start making finals you can’t blame kids for leaving...

I dont think people should judge the pommy players coming over with the usual its only England. English players literally turn Canberra around. I dont think you can judge them until they get out here. For example, everyone said bateman was to small and would get destroyed by the forwards over here and he murdered it. Top say gildart will struggle already is shortsighted imo.

So any signing news around the place about current 1st grade players and not juniors?
Looks like all our rumoured players have stayed at current clubs.

This Thompson Rumour won't go away.
Apparently we might consider lifting our offer for him and if reports are correct that Dog would pay 200k I think we should give it a go as we have plenty of money.
Dogs in salary cap mess already and even Gus said they only have 1 spot free for next year for a min wage guy. How do the powers at that club justify going all out for TPJ and leaving them in this situation already.

He wanted a long term contract and we offered 3 years. He wanted more for sure, possibly not more money though.

He can come here but on our terms....

I agree on Hastings, he will go well for the Tigers and I'm excited about him but I'm not having that about Gildart. He's been poor to the point that Wigan fans are questioning how he's got an NRL contract and want him dropped.

Can anyone confirm if Adam D has done his ACL or just a partial?
Apparently if its serious it will have a big impact on if we let Brooks go or not. There are a few clubs interested in Brooks but if we lose AD, Mbye I find it hard to believe we would let Brooks go.
Maybe let Brooks go if possible as it will help future cap space and have a go at Peachey or Ash Taylor as a back up to Hastings. Just thoughts

Hastings is a real deal footballer.

Sussed both two out since announced and watched the recent ESL games.

I like Gildart, seems like a nice lad.
Don't think he's up to it at NRL though.
Love it if he proved us all wrong though.

Initial report was a partial tear, still waiting on further assessment

Payne Hass is who we should be chasing apparently not signing the long term deal he was meant too!!

Sure he's dying to come to wests tigers

Aren't he and Stef close? Thought they grew up together.

I don't think so.

Payne did his schooling in QLD.

Ok gotcha.
I remember reading something about them playing rep football together throughout their juniors. Must have been someone else.

Mikale and Payne where mates from school through

Ok. I must have confused the two. Cheers

No dramas brother, pretty sure it was haas mikale and David Fifita from memory all in the same keebra park team. There where a few others in the NRL currently but can’t remember who they are lol

66.66% chance of getting a superstar and we sign Mikaele ??

Hahahaha well as of right now we are the 33.33% aha! I think he has potential just needs to build some confidence and work out he has hands to catch lol!!

Recurring!

Hastings & Gildart will be good additions they are better than what we have in their positions I would also keep Roberts & Brooks if Douiehi is out with injury for a while I would play Brooks as a running five eight & Roberts in the centre’s to replace Talau

That's okay, Lomax and Douehi in the centres will do.

I doubt if Brooks is going anywhere regardless of ADs injury
