Until coaching situation is publicly known good luck signing any decent players. I think WT need to part company with Maguire asap, hire a new coach before November then players might come here. Not an easy fix.

New coach needs to be in place in the next couple of weeks, well before November.

Think weve already initiated discussions with our primary target(and others),and the major stumbling block will be who picks up the tab for Madge and emmachissit...!
Needs to be resolved asap so we can recommemce our currently dormant recruitment drive..

My theory is tigers might have a new coach lined up close doors
then maybe the club will give Madge 6 months to 'fix things'
if nothing happens then definitely gone imo

I don't think he will get the 6 months.

No chance, losing 38-0 to the wooden spooners was the final nail in the coffin. His position is no longer tenable, he’s a goner.

Personally I think the "we have signed nobody for next year" line of thinking is way too premature given the amount of horse trading that has occurred every off-season for the past 4-5 years.

I am almost certain Tigers are patiently waiting for the inevitable movements that will occur after the finals. You only need 1 or 2 movements to set off a cascade.

Look at the recent examples:
Tamou signed 18/Sep/20
Doueihi signed 30/Jan/20
Stefano signed 29/Jan/20
Laurie signed 7/Feb/21
Luciano signed 30/Nov/19
BJ signed 27/Jan/20
Jimmy Jet signed 18/Nov/20
Joffa signed 29/Nov/20

In fact we've done 90% of our trading in the offseason the last several seasons.

Just look at that list - Lucy a bench player at the Dragons is the only NRL player their previous club wanted which we picked up 2yrs ago. 2yrs ago!!!

BJ, Tamou, Joffa, AD all pushed out

Stefano/Laurie we signed a year in advance.

We have no choice to wait as every player we have gone after that was available chose a different club.

We waited until end of July to fill our last roster spot in hope someone pops up - which they did but we missed out.

We currently have the smallest squad of all NRL teams going into preseason.

The reality is we have alot of things going wrong in recruitment currently. We want a big name, a starting player but they don’t want us unless it’s a last resort. Last 2yrs it’s been a consistent trend on this.

Does firing Madge actually change anything though? We're back to square one, back to rebuilding for the 3rd/4th time in a decade if they do. I genuinely don't have the answer but I feel like unless he gets them firing in the first 10 weeks of '22, then he's on borrowed time. But even more important question is who would want to coach the Tigers anyway? I am willing to see how it goes with Sheens overview.

In terms of the coaches that are out there, these are the ones that come off the top of my head:
John Morris
Shane Flanagan
Geoff Toovey
Neil Henry
Stephen Kearney
Paul McGregor
Wayne Bennett (he’s going home to Brissy though.)

Yes it does, provided they choose wisely. The roster, albeit not great, is better than what we've dished up this year. It's clear there is a disconnect between the coach and the players and he's been unable to adapt his style to both this group of players and the modern game.

If they make the right decision and get a coach in tune with the modern game whilst also having some ability to man manage, then we will see improvement. A good coach will also hopefully assist with recruitment.

Surely trolling.

Tyrone May would be the worst of all those. He's terrible.

Didn't Fergo leave the Sharks in 2010 for Raiders cos he "only wanted to play in a team that could win a premiership"? Are you thinking what I'm thinking...#Premiers2022

the problem is we rate Adam Douhie as a star he would barely make any of the top 6 teams
Laurie is good but raw
Brooks is exposed
Nofo is a joke
Stefano up and coming
we have no stars in this team
we need one kill a big name

Doueihi makes most sides, whether that’s in the centres or halves

He makes all of them lol.

he is a centre not a 6 in any of the top 6 teams

He is a quality player who can make stuff happen. He makes every team in the comp.

The issue is we can’t attract either.

Really ? You think if we offered them more money on longer term contracts they wouldn't come.

We clearly have problems attracting players on fair money but we've signed Stef, Laurie and AD recently who are all in my opinion quality players.

I think part of the problem is the lack of talent in the league. It means players like Finucane, Hynes and TPJ have heaps of options. I don't even see those players as marquee players.

We signed Stefano a full season before be came - 18mths ago.

We got AD because Souths needed to free up a spot & cash for Latrell - someone competing against us.

Laurie we signed for next season but had to swap Momo for him to get him this year as we couldn’t wait.

Seriously we are bone dry on new recruits.

We have no one signed for next year, zilch, nadda no one. The only NRL club in that position and we are bottom of the table. No player in a top 30 squad is lining up to come here.

We have had cash both for this year and alot more for next and even more the year after.

The pool might be reduced but that hasn’t stopped the Broncos, Bulldogs, Warriors, Cowboys and Sharks to recruit players - NRL quality and young kids as well.

The reality is what it is - our current methods aren’t attractive and players prefer to play at other clubs over ours.

You may be right, but really, we don’t know who the club is targeting or signed? Probably sensible to keep it to them selves as shouting it out has appears to have not been successful in the past?

What a list to choose from.

Every one is Garbage - They all got sacked from their last jobs.

Flanagans record at the Sharks was pretty good , plenty semi final footy and a grand final plus when he arrived there they were about where we are now , way off finals ability , He won’t risk any stuff ups , he can attract players , he talks like he knows what’s going on in his commentary , It’s him or Bennett if they delay addition team to the comp , my money is on Flanagan to take over and within a couple weeks , the Tigers can’t sit back for to long , the coaches call will be done pretty quick I think then the new guy can come in and get some players over to us ,

Also leaders wear their failures and suffer the consequences.

Maguire said from the start he had at least a competitive roster capable of winning. Now the roster is the reason why they don't meet higher goals. Basically he has extricated himself from blame at the expense of his players. I can't imagine that would be well received by the playing group.

That list Clarkey posted was from an opinion piece Fox Sports did about who the tigers might sign - no actual substance to it.

I think we should look at John Asiata. He'll be dirt cheap, he's a good ball playing middle forwards and is a solid player.

I worry that with all the cap room we have left they'll go out and sign players on stupid deals again. We shouldn't be signing anyone over the age of 30 (unless they're a star)

Youth is the way to go. More signings like Laurie, Stefano etc is the only way we get out of this hole. Signings like Tariq Sims and Blake Ferguson get us no where

I agree, but Tariq Sims if he at least took the field would be an upgrade on Russell Packer.

Tariq Sims is a state of origin player, never takes a backward step , leads by example and trains the house down , something we desperately need , a bit like in 2004 when we bought in Scotty Sattler , a gem for the young blokes comin through
