Does anyone in the know if Jordan Hill, has signed with Mackay Cutters in QLD. ??

Why do you ask that?

A mate said that he is joining the cutters, don’t know if he is taking the piss or what. That’s why I asked the question. I was hoping The Pom or someone in the know had any information about it.

That's pretty obscure on both counts.

Why would Hill join a QRL side? Why wouldn't he either re-sign with us or join another local team at NRL or NSWRL level?

Also how does your mate here about the signings of injured jersey flegg players to non NRL affiliated clubs? Unless he works at Mackay it doesn't sound like the sort of rumour that would just do the rounds.

He has signed with the cutters, which includes a pathway to the cowboys. He signed with them coz they not only offered more money, but also lined up a suitable job for him and accommodation.

We're not talking massive dollars but our mob made zero effort to keep him.

I hope he kills it up there and makes it thru to the cowboys.

Well that's very disappointing. I hope he does well but if we can't retain players who obviously fill a void in our first team squad then we sure as hell have signed someone even better from elsewhere!
So long as we sign the best players available I don't have complaints, but I'm waiting on the signings announcements and they better be good

Like others have said, guess we can't keep them all. But for the club to openly declare how vital the junior pathways program is to our succession plan - and the main focus being to retain our junior talent - it's a little disappointing to see the club unable to fulfil another commitment they've made.

I know your all spitting chips about a jersey flegg player who spent the whole year injured and has moved onto that nrl powerhouse Mackay Cutters. On the other hand the article this indicated we have kept Scolari, Dillon, Rua N, Pole, Mansfield, Tumeth, Matamura. When you have a great group of juniors come through you can only keep so many

So Dillon is definitely staying?

Club tweeted with the Jersey Flegg article that the first 4 would be training with the nrl side over summer. That the others along with Hill would be returning to JF next year.

For those who want to have an inside listen into how our club deals with signings. Adrian Tripodina is a business man who was dealing with out club during the big 4 stuff up and lifts the lid on just how poor our head of office actually is.

Honestly a fantastic listen and will leave you gobsmacked.

No thanks. What leaves me gobsmacked is that you think I would be influenced by you telling me what will leave me gobsmacked. Wasting your time there, man.

The mans just suggesting it for people who might be interested ? Why be an asshole for ?

I thought I was more polite in my response than you are to mine. Is "asshole" allowed now moderators?

Could care less what’s allowed. Just calling you out for what it is. There was no need to respond like that

You should care because a remark like that will see you take a spell for a week.

Sorry for telling the truth through colourful language

Respect the rules or you can leave the forum - your choice.

Slightly off topic but wouldn’t Elijah Taylor been a perfect 13 for us this year..passion, great leader on field by actions, strong defender and ability to link

Well he didn’t do all that well while he was here.
Solid but no world beater.

Like so many of our signings over the last 10 years ...they aren't bad signings .....but they need to be surrounded by the right players ...and thats where we have got it so wrong .....Josh Reynolds could have been a good signing ...but he needs to be partnered by a particular style of 7 .......Adam Blair was the same ......keep Dwyer fit and Ellis in Australia and he was a good signing .......Johnny Morris ...put him in correct position ...good signing ....Bodene Thompson ......get a quality front row in front of him ...good signing ......

We don't understand or can't recruit the entire side that will gel ...will trust in each other ...will work together as a unit ...and most importantly will die fighting for each other and their fans until they hear the final hooter every given Sunday

And you look at the Roosters .....4 plus million sitting in the Grandstands and get lapped occasionally..but those blokes are having a dig every week ......

Well said.
To the point, we can't recruit an entire side that will Gel, trust or work together. But the Roosters can develop Juniors who can?

Sure for some bizarre reason the Roosters may be attracting better Juniors (why on earth would you want to play for the flight lounge). Overall our culture, our training our drilling our way of operating should be solidifying our team.
We should recruit for that one position we don't fill well. Not half the entire team post season.

Manly get it right, Fortress Brookevale. It's a us vs them with people sticking together for the team. I remember Braith Anasta saying when he was recruited it seemed to disrupt that team/brothers in arms thing "with Chris Heighington and Beau Ryan leaving it was like someone dropped a bomb".

The problem is not just Madge, it's been in the Wests Tigers a long time. It's us.

Your not going to get a perfect 17 that all fit in ...but you get 12 and the other 5 might have something different or special that help with Game Plan B ...C ....D or even E ....you'll win more than you lose

True, Hey I would like a 12 that we could pick week to week to be confident in.
But you are still thinking "team on the field this week".
Take Manly, you had Watmough, Kite, the Stuarts taking unders to play together.

I really feel like were playing "cap deals" i.e. wow we get a fringe grader and negotiate a good contract for them. They are still a fringe grader.

You're so right mate. I mean how could the club justify spending a whopping $15k to keep at worst a gun KOE winger who runs the 100 in the mid 10's.

I mean being such a successful club, we obviously can't keep all our talent.

I know a number of young people who never achieved peak performance again after significant knee injury and their careers veered away from sport.

People on here are crying out for the club to make tough decisions yet hauling the tigers over the coals because this bloke was fast and is a good bloke?

I’m certainly not defending the tigers pathways blindly because there’s obviously significant failings but Hartigan and Sheens will unearth more talent like Laurie and Steff, itching for an opportunity. There’s 1000s of kids out there with talent.

I do hope Jordan does get back to his best with hard work and makes it.

The Wests Tigers could reportedly part ways with second-rower Luke Garner this off-season which could free up money to chase unwanted Dragons star Tariq Sims.

Brent Read reported on Triple M that the Tigers could look to offload Garner before next season, while the club has also been linked with a play for the Blues Origin enforcer.

“There has been some talk around Luke Garner for a couple of years now and he was linked with Manly last year,” Read said on Triple M.

“There has been a bit of a freeze on player movement at the Tigers while they resolve the coaching situation, but Luke Garner’s name has appeared on the radar of some other NRL clubs.

“My sense is he may leave over the off-season and it depends on which club is interested. Manly is a club that has been linked with previously.

“At the moment Manly don’t have the room to fit him in but if Marty Taupau happens to go and Marty has been given permission to explore his options on the open market then maybe that brings Manly into play.

“They have a relationship with Luke Garner. He played under-20s with Tom Trbojevic so he is good friends with Trbojevic and I believe he still lives on the Northern Beaches.

“That is one to watch and it will hinge on the coaching situation at the Tigers and also what happens with Marty Taupau and if he finds another club and if he decides to move in the off-season.”

Read also believes Garner’s potential defection could free up space for the Tigers to chase Sims or former Bulldogs back-rower Adam Elliott.

“I wonder if it also has implications for either Tariq Sims or Adam Elliott,” Read said.

“The Tigers have been linked with both those guys. If they are willing to let Luke Garner go that would suggest that perhaps they think that one of those guys is going to arrive.

“So maybe that is a hint for a potential destination for Sims or Elliott.”

This is a BS quote from a headline grabbing Thief. Tigers have a surplus in their salary cap to purcahase Sims if they want, dont need to unload anybody. Read is clearly a DS !

A Sims for Garner swap makes us a better club as long as it’s only 1-2 year deal.

Sorry not saying Garner or Sims is better. Simply highlighting the dribble Read( and other NRL reporters ) talk about the Tigers. Its common knowledge that the Tigs have money to spend. Its clear Read is a clown & doesnt realize we dont need to move anyone on IF we wanted to buy Sims. We have ample salary cap space for Sims & more. As Tigers fans, we need to get smart & see through these so called experts who make up manure & stop believing every garbage story they write .

Agree, It’s all speculation but I’d be happy if we lost Garner and gained Sims on a reasonable deal for a couple of years max. It’s easy money linking us to anyone available because we’re a desperate team.

Totally agree it sounds like they are expecting Sims to be of something like $900K a season if we have to move players to accommodate him.
I’d prefer Sims stays where he is, and we don’t waste money on being a retirement home for their last pension cheque.

We need to upgrade our senior playing roster with guys who put in and lead with their actions. Guys who hate losing. Guys who can show the young kids what it takes.

We have the worst senior playing roster in the league.

Sims is a no brainer and anyone questioning his recruitment fail to understand what is wrong with this team.

If that had been put to Nofo mate if you stay you may not be seeing much first grade he may well have done a move to Melbourne you never know

And he might not have.

true then you have a disgruntled player, think he might have got a gig elsewhere then

Too many people think you can trade like its a video game. It is much more complex than that.

You’re right but it’s another area where we are worse. Offloading and keeping players. See Roosters/Flanagan , Matto etc
