I think we’ll either re-sign Roberts or sign Curtis Scott. Not sure which I’d prefer.

I’d go Scott. Roberts can’t tackle. Neither is fine too.

I'd love Scott

Anything said about who our coach will be.

Keen to know myself... Fingers crossed we know this week

The Pom has indicated that Madge would hold his coaching position.

The Pom might be off the mark on this one.

I hope so mate, Ciraldo is the bloke we need, even though you don't like the idea of a rookie coach. He has Penrith as the best defensive team in the NRL, he has respect among the players, and he could attract some quality players. He basically is everything Madge is not, and we need

Barrett had the Panthers attack looking pretty good too…didn’t transcend to the Bulldogs.

Barrett can attract players, Madge could only dream of, and Penriths attack revolved around Cleary, Penriths defence doesn't revolve around one player, so completely different

Is it Barrett who can attract them, or the Dogs? Is it Madge who can’t attract players or is it Wests Tigers?

I think it's clearly the WT Club. The leadership, management, resources and structures of the Club; a reluctantly merged, partisan, divided and unaccountable Board that runs the joint is the problem.

Jack Manning-Bancroft got panned by many on here for exposing the artificial and convenient nature of the WT narrative since the merger. It's superficial rubbish. Three-word slogans that even Tony Abbott would baulk at.

By contrast, did you read the comments of Trent Robinson after the Roosters were booted out ingloriously at the hands of Manly? He said that the resilience, courage and efforts of the 2021 squad would strengthen the Club into the future; not the "team", not "him" as coach, but the Club.

That's what we don't have. And, it's got nothing to do with the coach.
It's the shambolic, incoherent and selfish leadership of the Chair, CEO and Board that stifles any positive future for the Club, in it's current state.

If Madge is gone, it will be interesting what the club does for the next coach I.e open the purse strings, that they never afforded Madge.

Is this a joke, he got to offer Latrell over a million a year, JAC, TPJ, Finucane got offered good coin, there were more, he had money, but no decent player wanted to play under Madge

If we had landed Latrell we would have had no money for anybody else. It would be one star (who is often lazy) surrounded by a team of minimum wagers. It's a different story now that Mbye and Packer are off the books.

The point was Madge did have money and quite a bit to buy players, he couldn't land any, so he had to get young players

How goods it going to be when the new coach comes in and all the superstar players come flooding in to sign with the Tigers!

Madge can't get solid first graders, let alone super stars, so any new coach who can attract solid first graders is an upgrade from where Madge has us placed

Maumalo, Doueihi, Laurie, Stef. Madge signed our four most consistent players.

He was hamstrung by horrendous decisions made before he got here. Our highest paid players signed for four years, did not play often and when they did they were crap. What superstar player wanted to come here and play with Russell Packer and Mbye? It ain’t Madge.

Then why did the red hot souths players turn on him, why could he only get them to 12th in 2016, and 12th in 2017, why did souths sack him, his last 5 years at NRL level coaching are horrendous.
It is Madge, but he is not the sole problem and others need to go as well

I'm not sure the players turned on him at Souths. Remember Keary had that bust up with Crowe pre season and signed with the Roosters. Then Keary flew into Burgess for not sticking up for his team mates. I think that put a few players offside. Crowe also ripped into McGuiness and a few others who ended up leaving. I think ol' Rusty might have contributed.

Agreed and to be honest it has been the club at fault for 10 years.I am not saying there have not been other factors as well but basically it is the way the club has been run.All player negotiations should be done by the football department and nobody else(Lee and Pascoe not invited)

Pascoe’s only involvement should be to ensure the contract fits within the budget and to sign the contract on behalf of Wests Tigers. Otherwise yes Pascoe should stay out of it.

This gives Madge more power to offload under performers which we have a lot of. Madge deserves his chance to put a team together that suit his style. Let’s face it, there is no one better on the market to bring in. May as well keep him on and combined with Sheensy see what he can do. Ciraldo is definitely NOT the man for the job.

I believe the Sheens / Maguire combination will work well for us. If we can pick up an average to good forward (Taupau / Sims / Elliott) and a centre (Scott / upgrade Ogden) we wont break the bank in doing so .. maybe if we are lucky we might pick two of those forwards.

Maybe Sheens has a few aces up his sleeve and able to tap into the English Super League for us.

Plus when our High Performance Centre is complete we should be able to secure some marque players who'll see our centre as one of the best.

I think the chance for big signings are over, we missed them all, there isn't anyone exciting left available as far as I understand?

Or do you mean 2023

23 starts next month. That’s when it starts to get interesting. By November 1 anyone not resigned or not in discussions to resign can be approached and that’s when you start to build a roster.

All this talk re Madge, Sheens, Club etc the simple fact is players are competitive. They want to win and enjoy playing football. Well at least most do and in the case of our fortunes we only want the players that think like this. Which makes it all the more difficult when you are trying to recruit players with no actual hint of when your premiership window is opening.

Very hard sell to say to a senior player. Come play for us. I can guarantee we will make everything enjoyable for you off the field. I can’t guarantee you will enjoy everything on the field but I can guarantee we will pay you your market rate and not a $1 more.

The interesting thing from Lee’s commentary was that that the club and football department need to be more connected so it seems the club wants to be more involved in the football department. Assume that this means the club i.e Pascoe, board were not involved before?

It’s pretty simple really. Lee and Pascoe focus on all the corporate requirements etc and were of the belief that the football department can just operate with a coach and head of football and a bunch of funds on its own.
Without realising that the clubs primary business is the football department and the corporate requirements are a supplementary requirement to that.
Whether that means new managers or a change of CEO I’m not sure. But we really need a more football focused business head reporting to either the CEO or the Chairman / Board.

Ah ok. Thought it could have meant Board and CEO were shifting the blame to the football department and absolving themselves. Maybe WT run a different structure whereby the Head of Football (Hartigan) reports to the Board independently of the CEO?
