Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

"but in its eagerness to showcase its southern team, it has created a same-old same-old competition, whereas the AFL, which has a functional salary cap, this weekend puts on a grand final to capture the imagination between a team that has not won since 1964 and a team that has won once since 1954."
Knox again.

What chance this happening in the NRL in the next 10 years?

Unless something changes probably zero.

Zero, we don't have any teams that haven't won in that time. Only the Warriors (1995) and the Titans (2007) haven't won the comp.

Hiring Flanagan to have him waiting in the wings once Madge is inevitably is sacked. Planning ahead.

That would not surprise me. As long as Flanagan doesn't try to whiteant Madge, I have no problem with him as an assistant coach.

Having Flanagan in situ ready to slot in when the inevitable happens is great forward planning.

So..not so much improving the Wests Tigers at all..?

Madge is in self preservation mode. This talk of a rebuild is the recent rendering of the latest chapter of failure in detail. Besides, if he hasn't referred it to Tim for approval, it's meaningless.

I'm sure you'll get over the Maguire retention at some stage and it obviously helps you in feeling that Sheens will be his "boss".

That, of course, is not what the Chairperson has said; the Maguire/Sheens arrangement won't be hierarchical, he said, more of a partnership to evolve over time.

But, if it helps you sleep better, just run with it. Just understand that we know your agenda and we know the Club's position. Continuing to post a contrary opinion won't change the situation.

The Chairperson has been quite artful. I love his work.

Yeah I don't think its a good thing to have team who have won a comp in 57 years.

While we do have some consistently top teams, the nrl has been fairly good a spreading the grand final love.

AFL tends to have a love of dynasties where teams win 3 or 4 years in a row like Brisbane, Hawthorn, Richmond, etc etc

QLD Cup team of the year

Any worth looking at?

Fullback: Trai Fuller
Winger: Jonathon Reuben
Centre: Sami Sauluma
5/8: Jack Campagnolo
Halfback: Jack Ahearn
FRF: Nat Neale
Hooker: Jayden Berrell
2RF: Joshua Stuckey
Lock: Luke Bateman

Stuckey has signed with the Dogs I think.

Sauluma played NRL back in 2015 and is 30 prob not

Bateman was at the Raiders i believe

The 5/8 should be a great cyclist with his surname.

Found Gus’s article about us a good read up until a certain point - it was when he expressed that fast tracking our rebuild won’t help us meanwhile he’s doing this exact thing for the Dogs.
There also appears to be little knowledge (from a lot of pundits) about our junior pathways programs, as it’s often mentioned of late and usually advised every time.

In defence of Gus, he signed on for Bulldogs after they'd done all their recent signings?

I am sure Gus would be quite concerned about all the overs the dogs have paid to stitch together a squad for 2022.When it all unravels and they are underachieving look for Gus to do a fire sale of the overpaid players.I doubt he will rebuild the team in the same haphazard way of quick fixes like they have been doing over the last few years.

They desperately need a half and a hooker.

Luke Brooks & Jacob Liddle.

Who plays hooker if Liddle goes?
Can’t see us starting the year with our only 6/7 option being Madden/Hastings (if Hastings can actually get here).

Zach Docker Clay...

Man ill tell u who was a gun player...

Adam Docker.

Retired in similar circumstances to our Simon Dwyer.

Dunno if it’s the right comp but didn’t we sign the most recent Justin Hodges winner ? Some forward?

Ezra Mam is the one to look at... was the rookie of the year for Q Cup, think he's in the broncos system

Remember this post when he's a star!
