I'm not in the know or anything, but two separate people have asked the bloke on LU if it's Adam Elliott and he hasn't shut it down yet....

I thought he said it was a player contracted at a club. Elliot has been released - so don't think that's the player the guy is talking about

Curtis Scott was awful at Canberra and Storm let him go for good reasons

His defence was notably terrible this year for Raiders as well

Curtis Scott
2019 tackle efficiency 87%
2020 tackle efficiency 85%
2021 tackle efficiency 90%

2021 Tigers tackle efficiency
Chee Kam 89%
Roberts 83%
Talau 78%
Leilua 77%
Kepaoa 65%
Pauga 56%

Trouble was in 2021 he only probably attempted 40 tackles and missed 4 - in that 40 he was probably third man in on 30, another six fell over him and he missed 4.

IMO Scott is an improvement on what we have (right at the moment, with our inexperience, inconsistencies and injuries).

At his best, Scott struck me as a win at all costs type player on the field. Something tigers are really lacking in. If he’s fit and ready to go for the preseason, I’d offer him a short term deal to get us through 2022.

I’ve kind of lost track with our roster spots at the moment so I won’t argue this point.

Love the name

Haha yeah, haven’t been able to shake “ferret” for over 25 years in my local sporting circles ?

I can relate to that, for many years I was the oldest in my football team by a long way. Most of the lads were 18/19/20 and me mid 30s and bald. I was given the nickname Devon very early on and even now playing in an over 35's comp and many other baldys around I still get called Devon.

Could be Thommo.

I would probably entertain a thomo for Musgrove swap.

I agree, I definitely would be down for that. With Thommo what you see is what you get. Mus is largely and unknown and has so far failed to live up to any hype. Seems to have regular long term injury woes which have prevented him hitting any real form. Thommo is quality, hard hitting and hard running.

I would like thommo as a strong experienced first leader.

But don't think the club would swap Musgrove. He only signed a long term deal last year, apparently for understanding what dragons offered him because he wanted to play under madge.

He had that shocker against Parramatta but had a sesson ending injury from that game so assume he was injured affected.

Would like to see Musgrove with a full preseason and a string of games to establish himself. He's strong and aggressive which is what we need

I hope you're right. I don't think Elliott is the sort of back rower we're after, judging by the players we have in Flegg such as Webster-Mansfield and guys like Tuilagi, which speaks to the work Woodward does with his analytics and looking for certain body types.

I don't think the Musgrove extension is talked about enough on here, perhaps because some have forgotten he exists. We extended a guy for 3 seasons who had played 38 games in 6 years, and isn't very good anyway. It's not as bad as the Nofo extension, but it's close.

Given the clubs position, we need to have a strong year, if say there should be a change of approach from hartigan

- need to fill all 30 spots by late this year, no leaving empty spots for later like last year. Need to give all players time to compete for spots and make combinations and learn defensive pattern

- all new signings need to be strong defenders

- 3 or 4 out of the 5 spots need to be natural leaders who are vocal and don't give up

- need to go hard (overs) on at least one player in 2022 or 23 who is a leader and will drive culture change but also change narrative for club

- no more problem children. Need players who set good example

I don't mind leaving a spot or 2 open ...you always seem to get a few blokes who decide that their club isn't what they want or need at the time ...if we can get some upgrades mid season ...I'm all for it

I felt at the time it was a nervous knee jerk reaction by the club due to Dragons offering him about the same. 2yrs max at that stage would have been more than fair, possibly even 1yr with a 2nd in clubs favour given there was no real extended periods of form to gauge him off.

The Nofo deal was pretty much the same. 4yr deal for him given this season's form now seems completely ludacris.

Musgrove has been extremely unlucky with injuries, this years trials and the all stars game I thought he was a standout. I hope he gets a full pre season and I good run with injuries, he is huge and aggressive he will surprise a lot of people and he is definitely just the forward we need

Not even the Wests Tigers would sign Dylan Napa for five years. Maybe Two or one with a one option . Five years , surely not

Hopefully we won’t sign Napa at all, you may as well sign a tree stump and stand it in the field for all the good he is.

Agree to a point.

The tree would have to have a low branch to be able to attack the head.

Who was our best player in 2021? I'm hoping for a start we can get through this offseason without losing our best player from the year (like we did the last 2 years with Matterson and Aloiai).

His first 3 years at souths he played 27 games which is not that bad considering he was only 19-22 years old in strong team.

Then he was in trouble with the law for 2 years and didn't play.

Then signed with wests- having a season ending injury this year and was injured last year.

He's still only 25 so as a prop has his best years ahead of him. But yeah his career to date has been disrupted to say the least. But wouldn't write him off yet and we need players indebted to the club

Best I feel if gauged on effort and execution is a toss up between Stefano and AD with Laurie in the mix.

I get the idea - but last year we didn't sign anyone and just moved Tuilagi up (who could play 1st grade anyway). So we essentially played dteh season with one less payers and a lower salary cap than other teams.

We need to sign Scott.
Yes, not for overs and not in a bidding war.
The guy is only 23. Won a comp at 19.
If his head is right he will be QUALITY.
And we are beyond desperate for centres

Just my opinion - would not touch with a barge pole.

Some clubs, maybe could take a risk.

We are not in a position to take any more risks. We are still at least a year away of being competitive, depending on what they do with AD (5/8 for mine), we will have for next year, Talau, Gildardt, Kepaoa, Kei, Pauga, Hoffman and possibly Roberts.

Would not say we are beyond desperate, in need of, maybe. Could be worth a crack at Braidon Burns and if the talk on here has any legs that Zac Lomax is a chance, then that is about it for 2022. Look into possibilities for 2023 if we still need a centre, as there will be a few more available. Better than having to try for a halfwit (don't care how good or bad he is or how much he cost).

We are one of the clubs that MUST continue to take risks. Albeit considered and clever risks.

You are entitled to your opinion of course....

We take risks, we could end up with the equivalent of Mbye, Packer, Reynolds or a McQueen and that could just about finish the club permanently.

Worst thing we could do is panic and buy halfwits who will bury us.

Wait for the right people and trust in the youngsters I say.

He’s got $1.6m to bring to the party but the party is over. All trading is done. All that’s left is rejects/swap deals from other clubs and the bargain basement bin, good luck in there!

Yes, the unsigned market is dross. But surely you know there will be plenty of signings across the NRL before kickoff next year? Mostly from players who sign for 2023 and get released early.

I can’t see that happening at all. Everyone goes on about early releases but I’ll be willing to bet there are none.
