I’m not deflecting. No 2 years isn’t long term. If I sign someone to a 2 year deal around this time starting season 2022, he can sign with a rival club a year later. For a club that has no stability like us, 3 years is a long term deal.

Mm don’t think I am mate. Just because they’re common in the league. Ideal amount of time for a player to be tested out by a club sure, but they don’t scream security.

IMO it’s good if a player doesn’t feel secure. They will work harder to improve. It’s a good thing if they are in demand. Means they are a better than average player. As a club we need to improve on retaining the better players.

The west’s tigers 2 year deal is the stepping stone to another club deal

Historically yes I completely agree. I’m confident we are improving the roster management. Our salary cap management is soooo much better in the recent past which will give us wiggle room to retain players we want to.

EELS TARGET FORMER NSW BLUES STAR

The Parramatta Eels are set to target Bulldogs winger Nick Cotric for a move away from Belmore in time for next season.

Brent Read reported on Triple M that the Bulldogs may look to strike a deal with the Eels over the former Blues and Kangaroos star to help ease salary cap pressure on the club.

“Nick Cotric has been linked with Parramatta a while ago,” Read said on Triple M.

“He is on a big deal at Canterbury.

“My understanding is that he is still on Parramatta’s radar and there is still a chance that something could happen there with Nick Cotric.

“When you think about that Parramatta side Blake Ferguson has left and Maika Sivo injured his knee in the latter stages of the year and may miss the start of next year.


“They are really short in the outside backs and Nick Cotric is on their radar and there is the potential for a deal to be done there.

“Canterbury have a really tight salary cap. With Canterbury’s salary cap and the way it is placed their top five players, none of them are spine players.

“Spine is a real weakness at that club and it needs to be reshaped. The cap needs to be reshaped and the squad needs to be reshaped.

“The only way you can do that is by moving players who are attractive to other clubs and Nick Cotric is one of those guys.”

Still just 22, Cotric has scored 49 tries in 107 games for the Raiders and Bulldogs since his debut in 2017 and played one game for the Blues and two for the Kangaroos back in 2019.

Fair enough with stef, top 4 club will go after him and will be hard to retain. I rate douehi but less so and simpkin has good old potential. Opinions of course.

Can't remember any Grant's playing for Redcliffe .....maybe lower grades
