Now it gets interesting. Api K an upgrade on Hodgson at 9 ability wise but probably blocks Simpkin’s path and not a leader like Hodgson.

Api isn’t a spring chicken.
But he is fitter than Hodgson.

Problem though is he isn’t much of a ball player and my thoughts are we are looking at Hodgson for this reason firstly.

Pros and cons with both…API offers more in speed,health and age.
Hogo offers more in leadership, direction and a kicking game, but fitness and age are a issue

Hobo a leader? Is that because of his age he gets that tag? What sort of leader spits the doomy and refuses to be captain any more?

One that has an issue (and rightfully so) with his coach.

One that stands by his soldiers till the end.

I think to be fair to Balin, he never actually played a game and pretty sure his contract was paid 90% by Manly.

Officially played 3 games over 2 years for tigers. 2 in 2016 and 1 in 2017 where he lasted only minutes after being knocked out …. Retiring later that year. If we paid 10% that’s still too much.

I agree with you that to get the best from all players it helps if they have a bond with each other and the coach.
Getting back to my point though, if a player doesn’t like the coach and as a result outwardly shows signs of dumb obedience (going through the motions , following coaches instructions, in a way that causes failure) then that player is not a leader. And WT should not be paying a premium for “Leadership value”. Place a valuation on his leadership after the first season and pay him accordingly in the second season.

I think his signing was stupid, but he was a mate of the coach, and the coach was was waging war with our current hooker. All pretty childish stuff.

I saw Pascoe today at Big W Macquarie Centre.
Asked him straight out if Hodgson is coming and he basically said we are waiting for Canberra to come to the party salary wise.
I said “but they don’t want him hey and he doesn’t wanna be there. So we have the upper hand”. He replied “yeah”.
BTW I didn’t realise he is quite tall
