Andrew johns want to coach luke Brooks at Newcastle. Will that sway luke Brooks

Brooksy still has 2 years left on his contract?? It’s against the NRL rules for the Knights to even negotiate with him. Buzz off Johns

Parramatta are considering handing Curtis Scott a lifeline next season.
The Eels, Rabbitohs and North Queensland have discussed signing Scott but it is Parramatta who has emerged a shock contender in recent days.

This could be an amazing comeback

I'd rate Marshall at least a good light-year-and-a-half behind those other three.

You just can't make comparisons from different times

Good for him

Here's an idea Johns. How about we get Ponga and you can give Luke that new start you say he deserves-if he wants to go and if we want to let him go.

I think Ponga is a shoe in for the Dolphins personally. Wouldn’t surprise me if he’s their first signing.

I think you're spot on!

Anyone who is saying this Brooks story is just media spin is kidding themselves. Johns isn’t going on the record saying he’d like to work with Brooks if the move isn’t in the works

Offering 1.4mill a season he is a shoe in ,the problem with that is he will have all the expectations on his shoulders .. that might not be a good thing in the long run!

I think Knights definitely want him - hard to judge what's coming from Brooks camp though. The Tigers seem insistent that he wants to stay and Brooks might be saying that but maybe his management is working on it in the background.

I'm sure the stories will keep coming

Ponga aside, is there anyone they have that we might want assuming some kind of trade deal is possible?

That’s what Latrell said about our offer, he didn’t want the pressure of carrying the team?

Just because he said that doesn’t mean it’s the reason.

Frizzle or Best, but we need a half for at least the first half of the season, so I can’t see him going anywhere.

Daley, Kenny & Fittler all great 6's

Benji too

I am a Benji tragic, but he is just not in Daley, Kenny or Fittler's class.

Though it must be said that Benji was arguably as exciting, if not more exciting, to watch week-to-week. Yes, a champion at both club and rep level and a deserved Golden Boot winner, but I wouldn't put him on their level.

Because beyond pure brilliance, all round game, ability to single-handedly turn contests AND a winning CV; they had the one thing that puts them in the "greatness" discussion - consistency.

He got in their class the day of the Cronulla try in 05.

He surpassed them that day against Parra . That try he set up with the around the back pass , was seriously “how did he do that”. The cameraman missed it , there was a second where he didn’t know where the ball was , and there was near to no space , not to mention the insane dummy before hand to create the space to begin with .

This Brooks stuff is starting to look a bit like the Oshay stuff last year. The difference being Brooks has a lot more class and is not making any public comment.

Starting to think the club denying it is a negotiation tactic to get full compensation.

I'm afraid you need more than one or two plays to get in their class.

He may be snapping at Daley but Kenny, Fittler and the mighty "Joey" - he wouldn't hit with a cannon.

However, as Benji has retired, we are not going to sign him - could we stay on thread, maybe for those that want to continue this discussion it could be a topic in the lament thread.
