We need centre’s plain and simple. Bradman Best for Brooks straight swap. Okay Peach at 6 until Douihei returns round 14.

There is no chance Newcastle allow Best to leave, nor would Best agree to it. Don't know why you would suggest the trade given it is not a possibility.

Who do we get for him then?

So we’re going to strengthen another clubs halves and, all the while leaving us with the worst halves in the comp. great going.

We've already got the Worst halves in the comp with Brooks here. Except we're paying him Marquee player money

That’s debatable. If leaves, there is no debate.

People need to understand that Hastings is the bloke who would replace Brooks, not Lam. Lam would be relaxing Billy Walters as depth, Peachey replaces Mbye, Doueihi as 6 still. That's actually pretty decent business

Brooks is a far better half than Lam and Hastings.

We know how you feel about him Paws but he quite simply isn't working for us anymore mate. The club can't continually put their hopes into him year after year without success.

I think he'll stay anyway

I believe he is working pretty well, even better when Sheens gets here and implements a game plan which suites the strengths of Brooks, Liddle and the remainder of the team.

Sheens isn't the coach. The game plans will be Maguire's. And if you think Brooks is working well then you're a terrible judge. Even Brooks'so called awesome defence had him miss the 6th most tackles in the NRL, more than any other Tiger

**Andrew Johns makes promise to Tigers halfback Luke Brooks if he joins the Knights**

I think it was mentioned earlier, this surely isn’t allowed?

1000% no. It's against the Nrl to even negotiate, still has 2yrs.
Anyway Brooks is only 26 years old. How many halves peak in their early 20's? There's also every chance his best is ahead of him.

Lost the trust as a supporter Iam afraid.....time to GO

I still think brooks could be given a new lease of life if he plays 5/8th - with Hastings calling the shots.

Take the pressure off him and just let him play.

AD won't be 100% on return - so he can play centres this year and move into 5/8th next year.

Brooks move on next year or play 14 for a year.

I would see if Klemmer is interested. He is kind of surplus to requirements now at Newcastle with the rise of the Saifiti's but still on big coin. So makes sense for Knights to be willing to part with him. He's from Western Sydney and might be keen if offered an extension as part of the negotiation.

Think starting halves will be Hastings and Peachey, presuming Brooks has gone(and for everyones sake i hope so)
Knights will probably offer up an overpriced underperforming Klemmer or similiar..someone THEY wanna get rid of
We need to drive a harder bargain than the peanuts we usually accept...

Can he play 7?

Brooks doesnt have the smarts to follow a game plan... know that from years of experience... more like game plan major mistake a the most damaging time

My preference would still be to keep Brooks, but if Utoikamanu and Blore step up a level next year, Twal continues to tackle everything that moves and we add Klemmer and one decent forward recruit eg I Papallii, then suddenly we have the look of a pack that a decent halfback may be keen to play behind.

Sounds correct up until when we rely on our average under all conditions half back

What do you mean?, in this scenario we don't have a halfback we are trying to build a forward pack that will attract one to the club

We havent paid peanuts but still had an underachieving monkey for toooo many year. I wish Luke all the luck at newcastle, if he becomes a superstar half then good on him

Klemmer is still putting up very good numbers. 160+m per game including 60+ pcm. Just shy of 30 tackles a game at 97.5% efficiency. His form last year would still see him be the best forward in our team, yet alone if he could regain form from previous years.
