I like Bailey Hodgson. He's Josh's nephew, only 19 but from what I've seen he's a smart fullback that can easily shift into centre or wing if needed.

We're not getting Saifiti or Best in exchange for Brooks.

Then we need the Knights to take on his full contract

If he requests a release on compassionate grounds we won't have to pay a cent

Why would he want a compassionate release?

If he wants to move up to Newcastle because he wants a move out of Sydney and a fresh start. He wouldn't be the first player to move because they want a change of scenery and a fresh start after struggling at their old club for a while

If he did that he'd probably have to take a pay cut so not sure if he would go down that route or if he'll leave at all. Plenty of off season left to figure it out, Knights are certainly trying to get him over there

I honestly think that’s scrapping the bottom of the barrel as a reason. If we were overflowing with halfbacks then whatever.

I hope the tigers show some backbone. As poor as some people think brooks is, he is in demand and we need quality players ASAP. Having John’s comment weakens Newcastles bargaining position in my opinion

Brooks has openly said that he doesn't want to be coached by Madge again ..hence why i believe he'll be playing for Newie this season .. for those who say he's still contracted to us for 1 or 2 more years .. so was Moses and Matheson but they left .. all you have to do is use the mental health card and your out.

The question is what do we get out of this possible transfer of Brooks to Newie ..?? I really hope to see Brooks stay as i'd like to see how the Hasting / Brooks combination goes

This could be more than Chinese whispers, seems like the media are hearing something that they know is coming from a reputable source and they are using that source as their assurance, and the source must have a legal agreement with the reporter that they remain anonymous unless legal action is taken about the story which usually doesn't happen or unless the story involves defamation or something else serious.
I suspect that the main culprits here are the player managers.

Brooks needs to go, followed by nofa and then all the old loser tiger mentality players are gone. I don’t care if we have to start the year with twal at 7 get rid of this guy.

No he does not and by all reports he, the WT, Sheens and at least half the rest of us are happy with that outcome.
So get off his case and live with it.

New to this site, for me it is a "no brainer", as we are a club that most of the NRL seem to be avoiding like the plague and we have a local junior who the 8th immortal wants to work with if he joins Newc who incidentally supported the venture when the other 3 ditched, dally m HB of the year 2 years ago. At the very least the daily telly would have an absolute field day sighting roster mismanagement again, making it even harder to lure talent. He goes and has a great year, the narrative just gets louder..leave tigers and win

Good post. Wests Tigers will be in deep,,,,,,,,,, if they lose Brooks this year. Unfortunately many of our supporters remind me of the old Romans who wanted blood at any price.

How has he been unfairly vilified? He's the halfback, highest paid player and told all and sundry that it was 'HIS' team and he had the keys. He then produced extremely poor performance levels

He still has two years left on his contract. He has not produced extremely poor performances. The fact that Newcastle are trying so hard is a sure sign that he has something to offer. With a new and very experienced half by his side at Wests tigers you will see what he is really capable of. By the way, to whom did he declare that it was his team.

Oh ok, just cause the media says it its right. Lets check their credibility. Hooper & Buzz both wrote articles saying Maguire was sacked. Then got dirty when they got caught out talking BS & tried to spin it that the Tigers changed their mind. Clearly not credible & uninformed. Reed was adamant that Brooks was going to Canberra. More BS. Fox sports have had run multiple articles saying Brooks was going to Newcastle( among other clubs) . Funny , Fox sports running article today saying supposedly "in a twist" Brooks now staying at Tigers. They dont even believe their own Cr#p cause if you notice no one takes responsibility for the articles ... they list as the writers Fox staff writers. . I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion but seriously , we (this forum) need to stop giving these media clowns oxygen. Why do we even concern ourselves with the rubbish they vomit? Why would you want join the circus & become a clown with them by repeating the crap ? The dump they take every morning has more substance then what comes out their mouth when reporting on the Tigers.

Hey can I be frank. Over the recent past, after reading some crap that on here. Would be happy for some on here to also change clubs. With the change you would be happy. And with that change so would I. You can be a passionate supporter, which great!!! But when you keep putting down the club, the players, the staff consistently, then you are probably a supporter that I would not want to be in the trenches with. We are going through some hard time, poor decisions in the past, which we can now see but may have been a risk at the time. We don’t have great cattle. We truly are a bottom 2 team atm, but we are building. Cannot think of a worse pack than us tbh, not to mention centres. So that covers about 60-70% of the team. It sucks, I know. But a Clayton change of one position that is not our weakest, that would make us just dumb! The club is t that dumber, but I can’t say that for some of our supporters. We are all entitled to our opinions, but what really irks me is when ppl same the same thing over and over again, because they are no more than a keyboard warriors. And to all keyboard warriors out there. The time has come. Go away and do t let the door hit you on the way out. Apologies for my rant. Don’t mean to upset anyone. Just a bit of a vent.

I get the feeling that there is a big clean out planned for the next 12-18 months. We won’t see the benefits however till at least 2023. Because we keep bloody coming 9th...
I see it as a massive problem.
We're more often than not - So close...
Gives the perception were just 1-2 Players away from being a top 8 side.

The reality is, We've been very lucky a lot of other teams have been down for so long... And our squad has always been lacking - and player for player much further behind the opposition than our season finishes would suggest....

Sometimes (Not often) I wish we'd win back to back spoons so that all and sundry would finally realise - We're not a top 8 Squad, And haven't been since - well - we made the 8...
(Bar 2012/13 - we should have made the 8 that year)

Other clubs have proven NRL Players as depth... We have Johnny No-One, Or Jnr Pauga...
No offence to those boys, But they're not Nene McDonalds, Josh Mansours etc....

Realistically, Our entire squad for far too long has contained no more than 15 NRL Players, And even then - Not many of them are in the top tier of Players....

We've never had the cleanout we needed... And on our current trajectory - We won't anytime soon.

People keep saying we need a centre but we have Kepaoa, Gildart, Peachey, Hoffman and Kei with Talau to return from injury too. It's not that we don't have any centres at the club, it's that most of them are yet to prove they're anything but average.
