If we somehow get Hodgson and they don't take Liddle I would be on the phone to Dogs for a swap for Cotric..
I don't think they will get Moloney from Eels so might be tempted.

Honestly if that’s the case Madge wanted another Prop send him to Dogs in exchange for Thompson we might have to throw a bit of money as well but that’s what I’d be doing

Looks like we have recruited well from QLD with the focus on pathways

The Wests Tigers have six of the best – Queensland schoolboys merit prop Herman Tofaeono (Keebra Park SHS), 2021 joint Justin Hodges medallist Chris Faatugu (Marsden SHS), outstanding Wavell No. 13 Junior Taungatua (Wavell SHS), middle forward Mou Taumaletila (Marsden SHS) and utility Kienan Tempest (Marsden SHS) who is a David Stagg clone.

Throw in brilliant Kirwan SHS outside back talent Dudley Dotoi from Far North Queensland and you have a bag full of good kids headed to the Wests Tigers.

And yet the majority of the forum are still carrying on like Jason Taylor is running things.

People need to wake up to the fact that this club is indeed doing good things and stop blaming them for the past mistakes.

Maybe the club should communicate a lot better with there stake holders … if this younger talent is on the books TELL us ,explain what’s happening and the direction the club is taking . COMMUNICATION costs nothing it’s easy but the most fundamental resource that organisation do not use effectively.

Still feel it wouldn't matter. Most people are still hung up on Josh Addo Carr etc

I actually met Addo Carr on Cup Day. Lovely fella. Asked him why he didn't come back to the Tigers and he said we didn't want him

At the price he was asking...

Can only take a man at his word

For sure. I just recollect a heads of agreement or was that latrell?

There was a HOA but only if the Storm agreed to a release for 2021. WT wouldn't agree to a player swap to secure the release so the Heads of Agreement was null and void

Doesn't that suggest we wanted him?

Fact that we wouldn't agree to any player swap to secure his release would suggest we didn't want him that much

You do realise it doesn't work that way?

It does for players under contract at clubs with backbone and when players have integrity not to down tools. We had to release Momorovski to secure Laurie. Exactly the same

So it is been reported that the Titans will throw a million dollars at smith , this is on top of Fifita who is on 1.2 million then there is tino who is said to be on $750,000 . So that’s $3,000,000 of there cap so they have to get 27 players into around $6,000,000 that works out at about $222, 000 per player , now they have a couple more rep players who would be on double that amount , yet it never gets questioned by the media how the hell can u get all under the cap , I guarantee if it was the tigers doing it , we would be on the front page .

You can do this for any club with reported contract values.
Apparently last year Brooks was on 950K whilst we had Mbye on 850K, Packer on 750K, Nofoaluma on 650K. Leaving about 223K per player for our remaining 26 players. Chuck in whatever we were reportedly paying BJ and Doueihi and half our squad would of been left playing for a pie and coke from the canteen.
1) All teams have their big money players and their squaddies on minimum wage.
2) Dont believe all reported contract values.

Keegan Hipgrave forced into retirement - some extra dollars for Papali.

A beer and a pie. Seriously though, I don’t see it affecting Papali’i either way. Hipgrave is a contract they need to replace for next season. Doubt it comes into play for 2023.

Normally after a Pom offering we get about 10 pages of instant activity, but even he did not stir up much interest today.
Sadly you have to be realistic, we were absolutely terrible last year and have basically got the same squad..so what’s to get excited about

I can only wish the roosters are enticing players with money, but I think the uncomfortable truth is that players are going there to be successful and sacrificing the money. If this generation values winning over money, our hill gets even steeper to climb, Ryan Matterson was on $180K at the chooks . When his upgrade request got leaked, whilst a WT. Many started to entertain the notion of the roosters actually being under the cap.

The Roosters are NEVER under the salary cap. This cr3p about players playing for unders "just to be at the Roosters" is a Politus inspired myth .Just because payments dont show up on the books, dont think for a second players are not receiving delayed payments for years after they retire from third parties, supposedly at arms length from the club.

1000 % Agree this happens..
Even retired players joke about it yet we get done for offering Farah a job AFTER footy when he was also leaving our club..
I've said it for years now but all payment should be paid through NRL and TPA need to be scrapped or heavily looked at by NRL.. Unfortunately the NRL have no balls to fix it

As suggested before, all players should be on a points system. The more valuable a player is the higher the points. All clubs can pay players what they want , however they can only spend the same amount of points. If a player is a local junior, you get a discount . If a players is a local junior and stays with the club 10 years , you get a discount. If you buy a player that was a junior at another club, you never can get these discounts, not matter how long he stays. The beauty of this system is it would stop the likes of the Rorters waiting for all the other clubs(like the Tigers ) spending the time developing these kids just to have them "stolen " with more money. For one thing , clubs like the Rorters would be forced to develop their own juniors and Uncle Nicks paper bags would be rendered redundant in buying any more premierships.

This cr3p about players playing for unders "just to be at the Roosters" is a Politus inspired myth .Just because payments dont show up on the books, dont think for a second players are not receiving delayed payments for years after they retire from third parties, supposedly at arms length from the club.

after moving to bondi a lot of players suddenly have some pretty decent share accounts from what ive been told

And if the player doesn't want to move to Melbourne?

as Penrith said with .ansour you will not be playing first grade, so he took up a swap with souths

The Roosters have a way around the cap. It's called perks.

A day of golf at a top-of-the-line course could cost your average punter well over a thousand dollars. If Uncle Nick is there, you won't pay a cent. And we all know about the infamous "games for money", and how terrible Nick Politis is at winning them.

Wanna hire a nice car for a short getaway? And how about staying at a nice hotel? Easy. Nick has you sorted. I imagine there are also a lot of nice bars/restaurants in Bondi where they won't pay a cent ("nah nah got you bro"). Imagine the financial advise those guys get too. They'll all be on the same stocks, picking winners. Maybe your partner is an Instagram influencer...would be easy to hook her up with sponsorships.

So while the contract may read $800K/year, really the value of the contract is likely upwards of $1M, thanks to all the perks you get just by being a Roosters player. A lot of those perks will likely continue in some form if the player retires at the club. Especially if your retirement is favourable for managing the roster.

I can't hate on them for it. Every club can do it, although most will eventually get caught. Although if your club has been at the top of the ladder for a few years, I can see the NRL pretending they saw nothing.

Is it fair?

Nope.

But every team in every sport in the world does it. The difference with the NRL compared to other sports is that you don't usually have half of your teams sharing the same region.
