@tigerballs have you heard anything about Herbie Fanworth or Briton Nikora possibly joining? @THE_POM mentioned them in his last post and was just curious if you’ve heard anything on your end?

Sorry Glen, I've got nothing on either of them. Love to have Herbie on board though. I still think Luki will be onboard fairly soon.

Would love that to happen.

What makes you think Luki is on his way @tigerballs

Makes me wonder why Tigers would throw their hat in the ring for Brandon Smith, when it’s obvious from the video that he’s going to Roosters, more embarrassment when we miss out

Cant believe no one has posted highlights of Luki
Strong carriers by Heilum led up to his first half try using great footwork and strength, he scores with two defenders on his back.
🔥🔥
FYI - There aren't any highlights of him in FG but I found when he was featuring in U17's for his jr club Cairns in the grand final !
Enjoy !

WT have made him a very decent offer which the Cows can't match. He's been invited down as soon as the border opens so we'll see how things go after that. He's also had offers from Qld rugby and probably the Dolphins by now, but we are in hot pursuit.

Don't think there's anything embarrassing with the club aiming high. It helps sets standards and drive or define the culture.

nothing to lose....who cares if he knocks us back. we obviously need to offer overs, and if it gets him thinking then it pumps up other offers...
and if people laugh at us then who cares really? it doesn't change anything at the moment. I'd rather be in with an offer than not even try.

No chance for Smith. He basically laughed us off months ago. It’s the tier below him that we should be looking at, like Papali’i. Herbie Farnworth is another name constantly thrown around that would be a good target. Personally, I’d be going hard for Dylan Brown.

But also in saying that moths ago we were weaker back then Sheens wasn’t at the club yet and we didn’t have Papali’I signed either things are slowly turning like I said it is very slim that we get him but we are starting to try and build for at least 23 and that’s what Sheens wants if by a miracle we did that’s one way to get the ball rolling for 23 signing Dylan Brown wouldn’t add to the change that Sheens and the fans want it would just be another average signing at best not a big one

There have been little improvements, but no marquee player is going to choose us over the Roosters.

Mate, a 2 man tent player wouldn't choose us over the Roosters . . . . let alone a marquee player.

Brandon said that he was really impressed by the way the Roosters negotiations where kept quite, and not played out in the media like the Dolphins conducted their meeting with Smith.

Take not Lee keep your mouth shut or stay away from player signings.

Would be good news for my Helium joke. Which I stole from somebody else.

Still Cannot believe the NRL have not stepped in on the top clubs and recruitment.. Roosters for Example have Ex -players selling the club and how they look after you OFF the field and after playing career ends and we all know what that means.. Weekly Golf games, Assisting them in studying, memberships, and jobs after playing careers, etc.. but Clubs like us get ripped a new one for offering a club legend a job after he retires and was signed elsewhere to another club at the time.. Plus we get our Salary cap effected for 2 years..

I know I am salty about it and I am sure by the letter of the law there is a loop hole they slip through but as a league fan it just pisses me off and puts me off the game.
At the end of the day we would offer him 900k to 1mil but the Roosters will pick him up for 600k which doesn't add up to me.. As a player you might get a 10 year span to earn your money and just letting 300-400k a year go by is not true.. They have to be getting the difference elsewhere and some day someone is going to spill the beans and the NRL might actually do something.. Not holding my breath though
Don't get me wrong I do not blame the players at all and if I was a player getting offered this it would be hard to say NO.
Anyway back to dreaming about adding a quality Rep player to our team that the big clubs don't want :face_with_rolling_eyes:

How can he say it was kept quiet when everyone in the world knows he met with the Roosters and he's even been blabbing at length about it himself. If there's anything about the Cheese negotiations you can say with conviction, is that it is entirely being played out in the media.

Exactly my thoughts. When Smith says "Like, they want you to be set for life. They don’t want you to walk away with nothing from rugby league. They just pushed that. They can tell you how they are going to help you with life … it was just mind blowing.”

Smith just revealed what we already know..payments (in whatever form) are made outside the cap, yet the NRL continue to 'hear nothing, see nothing'.

I wonder what Kyle Flanagan would say to that?

Except this in no way confirms payments outside the cap. I think it clearly refers to helping players invest their money wisely as well as providing opportunities and support around further study or networking for post career job opportunities. None of that is actually a cap breach unless they promise they will provide a post career income.
Im not saying there is/isnt cap rorting happening. Im just saying that interview does not confirm it.

Exactly, The people they have around the club are there for the people they have in and around the club. Listen to Bouris on the few podcasts he's done...
It's not hard to see what advice he'd be giving young guys with too much money.
They'd invest properly, Have them negatively taxed.... That's the kind of guys they've got around the club.
We've got A bloke who makes a living organising the odd battle of the bands and charging kids in bands to play at them.

No point getting Salty, they're run on another level.... Say what you want about paper bags and all the other crap. Every club cheats the cap... And would cheat it better if they could. Roosters don't need to. They have the right people, With the right connections doing all the right things to help the club and it's players...

I admire them.

Lets not kid ourselves.......he is choosing Rorters because the paper bag is probs as big or bigger than the "contract". Along with that, i loved it last year when they only got 50 % of the 50/50 calls(instead of 120%) that little bit#h Robbo blows up in the media conference, & all the calls go their way for the rest of the games & they STILL couldnt win the premiership. 🙂 🙂
