I agree with you. People are forgetting that he is 21_ 22 years of age, 5 years younger than Brooks. At 27 I still don't see anything special. Whilst he is a great defender he has a poor kicking and talking game, 2 important ingredients. I think Madden will surpass Brooks for skillset before the ripe age of 27 if given the opportunity.

Fair enough. But if Madden ever has a game as good as Brooks' first one, that'd be a start. And we can scoff all we want at Brooks' Dally M but if most halves, let alone Madden, ever had a season that good it would be rightfully be their career highlight. To get to Brooks' level is a long way.

I think he's headed for the back row - whether he likes it or not.
I don't hate him at centre as he's a big body...
But you're right, He doesn't have the speed to be effective in the comp...
His defensive reads are mostly poor...
And has tendency to ball hog - Not great traits for a centre.

Most of us are probably trying to make the best of a bad situation, Guy has some mongrel and is in our best 17 players...
But I'm not trading halves, hookers, or Current Backrowers for him - Id have him at lock Behind Joffa and Peach...

AD isn't a better defender than JTJ, might be better than Gildart but last year his defensive efforts were terrible. People say he puts in this effort but defensively last year he wasn't up to scratch.

I love AD and he’s clearly a skilful attacking player but agree with your comments around his defence. It’s something that he really needs to work on

Anyone thinks of playing Doueihi at centre needs to realise that he would be one of, if not, the slowest centre in the comp. And you Simply cannot play him alongside Maumolo or Noffa. It's suicide to play two slow players side by side. If Doueihi plays centre we need to find a winger to go outside him. Maybe Peni

I’d say Garner is s fair bit slower!
I am happy with the Doueihi coming back in the centres, especially after a acl. Running straight little sideways stepping but less pressure on the injury comeback the better! Worry about the ifs, next season.
Perfect way to come back in the centres.
We have plenty of halves playing well at the moment, I think madden is coach coming along nicely. Just give him time.

True but you can't slot him straight into the halves after his fairly long stint on the sidelines. I thought he played well there last year but if Brooks and Hastings form a combination for the next few games hes out, it would be stupid to start Adam in the halves. Now, if hes not in the halves or playing centre (I'd have To'a and JTJ ahead of him in centre with laurie at fb) hes likely off the bench in place of Madden

Munster was a fullback first up in NRL. Yeah he was lethal there as he is at 5/8.

For sure man Storm didn't lose much when Slater retired he was a gun at fullback.

I would love to see the club and NRL look at a loan system with the English Super League. Imagine how good it would be for Madden to spend a season running a team over there, while we take a young forward under our wings and show them how tough and how hard you have to work to play at the top level. I think it could be a great way of fast tracking young play makers. It's just so hard for young halves coming into the NRL. Super league is a great stepping stone

I just said he's in our 17...
I don't think he's quick enough or defends well enough to be at centre
His defence isn't up for the middle
And he doesn't take the spot of any of our halves...

I agree he might get the utility spot in most teams in the comp - Be interested to see how many starting Halves, Locks or Centre spots he gets in fit squads though...

My guess, Not many.... Maybe the Dogs.

Mostly his defence, especially positioning. Quite often makes the wrong read and takes the wrong man

Mick Cronin wasn't a speedster but he could defend, run strongly, set up his wingers and kick a goal or two. Our issue is our fundamental lack of genuine pace on the wings.

He'll be lucky to crack it in first grade anywhere other than centre. Doesn't have the motor for the forwards, nor the defensive will. He's good close to the line at centre and can probably set up his winger. Not good defensively but I think we've improved as there as a team. Slow, poor defender, ball hog...I think we've all been calling out our centres for the past few years for doing exactly that.
5/8, he's no chance.

If he wants to play 5/8th fulltime he needs to add 2 core components to his attack
1) Ability to rove right to left, he does favour the right bigtime.
2) Kicking game. His bombs are great but telegraphed. If he has zero time his kicks suck, if he has heaps of time I would hate to be a fullback under his bombs.

Madden not ready yet. It realistically may take him a few years to develop to NRL level, if he ever does. He reminds me of the talent level of Billy Walters. Could see him going to Super League for a shot.

was only the rabbits game when Hastings took the gig fulltime, the Parra game Brooks started and Hastings took over could be a reluctance to do the job fulltime. In saying that he certainly seems like a high % kicker.
