Some people may not know this, but I’m kind of a skeptic when it comes to this club. I have been reading people getting excited for juniors coming through on this forum for a decade, and more often than not, the juniors fail to deliver. Most of the juniors everybody was getting exited over 3 years ago are now considered deadwood. Way too much stock is put into our juniors before they even debut. It’s forgotten that they are coming up against 16 other clubs also producing juniors.
You are skeptic, no way.
Pathways or development is crucial to the success of this club.
It's been identified that clubs like penrith's players were developed in recent times.
The difference between us and them is there is a flaw in our system.
We are either not developing our kids fully or we are not managing them properly. The later is more likely.
This no doubt has happened for a long time otherwise we would have tasted success more often.
I like the way Simpkin is getting a chance to develop. Just because he's not always in NRL doesn't mean his development stops.
IMO, KOE needs to be of a higher standard and run like the NRL coach runs his side. That way there isnt any disparity when moving up and down in grades.
KOE should be the pinnacle in development which atm is far from that.
So now we have better tools. A new COE and hopefully our pathway structures have been tinckered with.
In any event, we must put more emphasis on developing these kids to play top footy
and remain in our system.
Home grown first graders is what we want topped up with some marquee players.
We'll never have cap issues by doing this.
We are in a difficult period right now trying to get a new coach but we must be wiser with our cap and not start the mess all over again.
